DISmoms 3! If the Tiara fits... 5/13-5/17/11 Complete! 11/8!

i was so worried that with this new helper thing I got that i too would have heightchallengosis. But upon discharge my loving husband clarified that I'm good to go on crazy rides...Wooo-Hoooo!

As for MK that day, all I remember is not having mascara on. Yeah it was that kind of day. Tears came and went and came. Seriously I thought I was losing it. It was awesome.

:banana:SO glad you are good to go on crazy rides.....that would really, really stink if you couldn't!!!!:banana: (any excuse to use a dancing banana!!!) Also happy to hear that you are on the road to recovery.....You've been in my prayers!

As far as the MK day....I think I should have left the mascara off as well...... because I WAS losing it! :rolleyes1 (Just ask Kara - and Capt. Jack :rotfl:) But what better place to lose it than MK?

That's GREAT!! I thought you had said you couldn't, and I know how bummed you were- very happy to hear that you will be back on RnRC and everything else on your next visit! :thumbsup2

So how are you feeling?

We were all looking forward to Tea once again, at the GF- it really is SUCH a girly thing, and for me, it is something I could NEVER have tried if it wasn't for my DISmom pals. :cutie: So here we were-

IMG_3631.jpg

The birthday girl was presented with a rose-

IMG_3604.jpg

She is sooooo ladylike.....

and we proceeded to peruse the menu- which had some different teas on it this year...

IMG_3605.jpg

IMG_3606.jpg

We were actually seated at the same table we had last year, AND we had the same server as last year, too! She remembered us, too! Not that we're surprised....I think we do tend to leave SOME sort of impression on the masses, whether it's good or bad.......

IMG_3608.jpg

Most of us went with theThe Grand Tea - The classic English tradition of Afternoon Tea, Grand Floridian style. We offer you a variety of tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts, followed by your choice of our freshly baked tea pastries or English trifle, accompanied by a glass of Domaine Ste.-Michelle sparkling wine and your choice of tea. $29.00 per guest. Iron Horse Cuvee $6.00. -

IMG_3610.jpg

Aren't they practically perfect??

IMG_3611.jpg

Laura, though, decided to try a new one, Princess Kate Tea - A Spring tea served with a classic dish of potted shrimp followed by a medley of cheeses, an array of seasonal fruits, and cheddar cheese biscuits. A scone, jam tart, and a selection of delicate pastries is accompanied by a glass of Veuve Cliquot champagne and your choice of tea. $38.00 per guest. It began with the potted shrimp-

IMG_3614.jpg

We were starting with tea sandwiches, which are one of my favorite things in the world-

IMG_3615.jpg

I apologize for my shadow-head in all the pics, but I couldn't get rid of it!

IMG_3617.jpg

Laura then had a LOT of cheese, fruit & cheddar biscuits-

IMG_3619.jpg

IMG_3620.jpg

While we had the world's BEST scone-

IMG_3623.jpg

As if that wasn't enough, we were offered a gorgeous selection of pastries-

IMG_3624.jpg

It's so HARD to CHOOSE!!

IMG_3625.jpg

IMG_3626.jpg

I HAVE to get the swan-

IMG_3627.jpg

Cont'd next post-

I think this was some sort of a mocha kind of pastry-

IMG_3628.jpg

We could also have chosen-

IMG_3630.jpg

IMG_3632.jpg

After tea, we all went shopping next door....I think all of us were trying on dresses, but I think Lonnie was the only one who ended up making a purchase in there- which she wore the next day- and we continued the shopping spree in the Basin store, which was SO BEAUTIFUL!

IMG_3633.jpg

IMG_3634.jpg

IMG_3636.jpg

I stocked up on pretty soaps, a lip scrub and shampoo bars, and then we were on our way....

IMG_3638.jpg

IMG_3639.jpg

The woman who sits in the GF with the dolls was there, and Laura and I went over to say hello. And she was sooo happy we did, it was really sweet! I forget her exact story, but I know Laura knows it and hopefully she can impart some of it here....

Anyway, we were back on the monorail...

IMG_3641.jpg

on our way to Epcot-

Because it was almost time for our crazy evening to begin at La Hacienda and beyond....hang on everyone, you're in for quite a ride! Up next-

I nabbed this from another thread. It was a treat to meet her:lovestruc

The lady who is always at the Grand Floridian Hotel is my sister, Lynn, who lives near there and is definitely Not homeless.

Her late Husband, Bruce, used to be there often, too, but would often go off and do other things while Lynn listened to the music.

She takes her bags of teddy bears with her everywhere and has for many many years.

Lynn has a terrific sense of humor, but she does hear the beat to a different drummer, as the old saying goes.

Bruce suddenly passed away from a brain aneurysm October of 2007, which was a shock to all of us. He had a fantastic sense of humor as well, and the two of them couldn't have been more perfectly matched.

Lynn will be 67 in March, so she isn't as old as some thought. I am 65, and at times, websites like this one are somewhat of a struggle for me to figure out how to use, so I hope you will be patient with me.

Even as a child Lynn was rather overly imaginative. I remember when one night she got me to drag her into our closet so she could pretend she was a doll and 'catch' all of the toys come 'alive' when the rest of us were asleep. She was probably around 7 or 8 at the time. She was dissappointed the next morning that none had come to life, but she reasoned it all out that the toys must have realized that she was really a human and not a real toy.

So, Lynn is not homeless, but she is OCD. One day she will no doubt tire of going to the GF and go off into something else.

She and Bruce used to love to hand out teddy bears to children, but only after asking the children's parent's permission first. They have been going to Disney since it opened, and have spent a small fortune there, taking 4 kids there very often, spending almost more time in the place where people camp than at their own home, renting golf carts. So, if anyone thinks either of them were or are freeloaders, they are very wrong.

The person who wrote #43 on the original site about my sister needs to learn compassion for those less fortunate than she is. With the way the world is today, she could be homeless right now. I hope that is NOT the case, but if it is, I can't help but wonder if she would even give a thought to what she wrote about homeless people when many thought Lynn might be, and she really didn't like the idea of Lynn being in the hotel if she was homeless. I seem to remember that she didn't even want Lynn there if she wasn't a guest at the hotel. My goodness, don't you think there are literally thousands of people that go into these hotels to eat in the restaurants, or listen to the music, etc. It is a public place.

Lynn has a LOT of friends at the hotel, as well as a few like the above person, who resent her being there daily.

Who is she hurting? No one.

At any rate, I hope this satisfies everyone's curiosity. Thanks to all of you who were kind in your remarks about her.

Lynn's Sister,
Tracy Joan

Thanks for posting that, Laura- it really is a lovely story, and I agree- it was a treat to meet her! :)

Then he looked at me and said, "Hey, I remember me? The Magic? April? We shared a moment........" ;)

HEHEHE!

But apparently Ellen's meds were NOT working!!! Cause that H2Ochallengosis was really coming on with a vengeance!!!

Love this picture of Ellen!

Hi everyone!! I'm starting my RCI TR- here's a link-

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=42345976#post42345976

I hope you'll come by to read! :goodvibes

I'm all subbed up!

While we had the world's BEST scone-

IMG_3623.jpg

Love scones with Devonshire Cream, love them! DH and I had tea at Harrod's in London and it was the best ever!

Oh those photos of the tea are wonderful, but making me sad! We used to have something similar in my hometown.

There was a local lady who had a B & B in a gorgeous old Victorian home in our town. Every weekday afternoon she offered high tea from 3-5 PM. It was only about $15PP. She served biscuits (not cookies!) scones, and wonderful cake. It was great to visit and have conversation with friends.

But the kicker was after you were done she would come around to your table and read your tea leaves from your cup!

She was a witch and would do palm readings, fortunes, star charts, and was licensed to perform marriages, etc...

Now I know you're thinking this is a little kooky, and it really wasn't. She wasn't all tacky psychic like out on the highway with the neon billboard. It was a gorgeous parlor with old fashioned pink cabbage rose wallpaper. She had several dozen sets of old tea pots, cups, warmers and cozies. Lots of antiques...

And her readings were very spot on. We visited her once or twice a year, and she was always very on the money with me, my mom, and our friends that went with us. She was very spiritual and lovely.

She passed away a few years ago. I miss going...:sad1:

Can you see it???

I'm so glad!! Thank-you!

Wow- I bet that was amazing! I have had it at St Andrew's (the hotel at the Golf Course) in Scotland and that was incredible, too! Actually, I will be going to another really nice one next month- at the Palm Court in the Plaza in NYC- I'm bringing one of my Goddaughters for her 14th birthday. Can't wait! :goodvibes

I want the tea right now...oh it was sooooo good

Yea...I'm a big fan, too!

Oohhh,,,I LOVE that- what a shame she passed away, it sounds like it was a very unique experience with someone out of the ordinary!

I know it seems like we just ate, but we had more food plans- and I guess we must have done SOMETHING before we went to La Hacienda, but I sure don't remember what! Anyway, we were going there just to try their Ritas and to split a couple of appys....and MOST important of ALL, we were going to be joined by an honarary DISmom, Jen- Nenner1! SO we put in our name (we did have an ADR, though) and proceeded to wait...

IMG_3660.jpg

Soon we were joined by Jen and her family-

IMG_3661.jpg

IMG_3662.jpg

I was lucky to be on the Magic in October with them, and it was so wonderful to be able to say hi again so soon!! They were celebrating Sarah's birthday, and had been having a blast. Of course, I thought it was Savannah's Bday, so she's the one who got a gift- sorry Sarah!! I owe you one, little girlfriend!

IMG_3663.jpg

Ron was going to take the kids and Jen was going to join us for some girl time, and we were all very appreciative! But Sav looked like she wanted to join us, and since she IS a 25 year old stuck inside a 5th graders body, we let her tag along. :goodvibes We actually waited for quite a while for a table, but we were adding an extra person in, and they were very accomodating. Finally, we went inside-

IMG_3664.jpg

The REAL reason we were here-

IMG_3665.jpg

We had heard that there were some different Ritas in this place, and you just KNOW whenever Rita's around, we have to go and say hi!

Hell-oooooo Rita!
IMG_3672.jpg

This was a Mango Blueberry Basil Margarita - El Mayor premium silver Tequila, coconut rum, orange juice, mango, blueberries, basil, served on the rocks with a hibiscus salt rim. - $13.00
and it was YUMMM-OOOOO! We also had-

IMG_3666.jpg

And some sort of a tequila flight-

IMG_3667.jpg

IMG_3668.jpg

And someone had Orange Mango Fire Margarita - El Mayor premium Tequila, ginger liqueur, orange juice, mango, fresh lime juice, a hint of tabasco sauce, served on the rocks with a Tajin chili powder rim - $12.50
-

IMG_3670.jpg

The drinks were really delicious....but we found out later (from a bartender over at the Ditch) that they are made with Oasis- not pure nectars, like the Ditch's are. That same bartender told us that he could supply those same Ritas over at the Ditch, and vice-versa- FYI. For apps to share, we had Taquiza - Taco trio featuring rib eye taco with chipotle salsa, roasted chicken taco with salsa verde and Chilorio(marinated pork) taco. - $10.75

IMG_3674.jpg

I had part of the rib-eye one, and it was AMAZING- I heard on the podcast that there is a ribeye taco this year at the Mexico stand for F&W....I hope it's the same one!! :lovestruc We also tried- Queso Fundido - Melted Cheese with poblano peppers, chorizo and flour tortillas - $12.50

IMG_3679.jpg

Which I would say was not the greatest- I would stick with the tacos.

All those chips made us thirsty, so I believe we ordered another round (BTW- we had told our server that we were only there for drinks and apps, and he was good with that, it's no problemo, senorita!).

Helloooooo Rita....
IMG_3686.jpg

Next thing you know, it was picture time-

IMG_3681.jpg

Then it was crazeeee time-

IMG_3682.jpg

IMG_3684.jpg

Gee....tequila is a LOT of fun, doncha think?? :rotfl:

We sadly said our good-byes, and it was time to move on to our next adventure....ITSK pics the likes of which the world has NEVER seen!! Up next!

Believe it or not I've been to Epcot 4 times and until recently didn't know there was a whole other world inside the pavillion at Mexico:rotfl: The food looks awesome! I am considering buying a park hopper so I can hop on over to Epcot and try it since we will be staying so close at CBR.

Yes, Ellen, I can see that photo and I think you look cute leaning up against that Totem Pole!

Great pics! The girls are too cute in their matching dresses!

The ritas look yummo as always! I'd have to go for the sweeter one, couldn't handle tabasco in a drink! :scared1:

Boy, you're training the younger crowd how to do it right! I think she needs a button that says 2nd Gen Dis MOM in training! :rotfl:

Excuse me???? And fwiw, I have my own arsenal this year..... just sayin..... :rolleyes1

Hey- YOU are the one who posed for the photoshoot....

Mexico has some great food & Ritas- the restaurant we were at, La Hacienda, is actually outside of the pyramid and across from it. :thumbsup2

Yes, Ellen, I can see that photo and I think you look cute leaning up against that Totem Pole!

Well, thanks, but that's not why I was leaning there...

DSC_1719.jpg

:rotfl2:Try enlarging the picture.....not only does she look cute, she also has H2Ochallengosis!!!!:rotfl2:

It's still hard to see when you do that- it distorts everything. Oh well....

Great pics! The girls are too cute in their matching dresses!

Yea- she probably does need that button- she is a really mature girl, I always have fun hangin out with Savannah!:cutie:

What a cool story. Thanks for posting this. I've heard about this lady, but really knew nothing about the background story.

So - back to the tea - if I had known you get a birthday rose I would definitely have gone there. :rotfl: Nice touch!

The spread looked fabulous. Such yummy looking pastries.

I did not know that the basin had shampoo bars. Great idea for traveling.

Yunm - Mango Blueberry Rita - I had one and it was fantastic! So they will make you one at the Ditch? Did I hear that right?

Fun DIS meet and great pictures!
