Disney cruise in September

Hi!

We are from Australia and currently trying to plan our first disney cruise on the Disney Fantasy around the Western Carribeans.

We had originally thought that September would be a great time of year to go as we want to visit Disneyworld afterwards and hopefully it will be less busy at this time of year.

We have however just been reading about the hurricane season and wondered if anyone has gone on a cruise at this time of year or let me know their thoughts about going on a cruise during hurricane season.

We had been planning on going on the cruise that departs on 1 September 2012.

Thanks for your help!!

We cruised back from Europe in 2010, departing Barcelona on the 18th of September, arriving Port Canaveral Oct 2. We had a beautiful sailing! One nice thing about cruising, they can skirt bad weather areas, if necessary.

:cutie:

We cruise hurricane season regularly, and enjoy it time and again. The ships have the ability to change course so we look at it as an adventure. Only once did we have to change a port of call. We've also been in Disney World during a hurricane, and had a blast. The parks delayed opening one day by one hour and we had the parks to ourselves as it was still raining - no lines! Bring ponchos and have a great time.

We did a Western in September a couple years ago and had wonderful weather. We enjoyed it so much that we have booked another Western on the Fantasy in September 2012. If you are going to book, do it soon. The cruise for September just went up a bit. I would book before they really start to rise. Oh, they are pretty good at avoiding bad weather on a cruise. Just get the cruise insurance and have a great time!

I so agree with this!! When it rains the park thins out and it is awesome! Plus it isn't so hot, and as long as you have one of those rain ponchos it isn't a problem.

Thanks Eva!! What date is the cruise that you booked for?

You are exactly correct in your thinking about the parks being less crowded in Sept. They are empty once the Labor Day holiday is over. We love going then. You will find that the parks will close earlier, but that is ok, because with little to no lines you still get to do everything you want. There will be more attractions 'closed for refurbishment', but IMO it is worth it to not have to wait for all of the other attractions.

the cruise will avoid the hurricane. You may experience port changes /cancellation due to the weather - but otherwise you probably will stay so far away from the storms that you will not really notice them.

Have a great time!
