Warning on surprising your kids

Yep. Decided that being it's August we decided to "surprise" the kids and stay at BCV and not BLT (like the past 2 years). Well 3/4 kids took it well but my oldest daughter (and Disney freak) was not happy at all. Tbs is just not Disney to her. I hope she warms up to the place and SAB as the week goes on. She's not bring mean - she just loves her BLT and the "fancy" ness of it v

Very upset theres not TOWL this year.

look at it this way... 75% success!

BCV can have a very nice, upscale feeling, I am sure all will be fine in the end.

Have a great trip.

Just tell her that if she doesn't want to go she doesn't have to and she can stay a Aunt Edna's while you vacation at WDW. I bet she comes around! :goodvibes

:thumbsup2

Just let her walk around the yacht and beach club area - that is "fancier" than most of the other places except maybe GF. Hopefully she likes to swim and the slide and pool will get her in the mood for a good trip.

same happened here...we stayed at BLT last year and this year stayed at our home resort BCV. Our oldest (17) sent the vibes, so we let him wander around the resorts and boardwalk area on his own & explore. All was well in the end. :woohoo:

We didn't surprise our kids but our normal Boardwalk trip was replaced by the BCV last year. The kids like the Boardwalk. They were not impressed with SAB.

we tried the same.: booked brother and family plus my parents at BCV one year, my 2 kids, plus DH and self another (we own at both resorts).

my nephews were very disappointed, and they wound up spending most of their time walking over to the BW.
over my family's objections, we did try BCV again.....still, we just found the resort too noisy, and SAB crowded, akin a town pool rather than a resort feeling.

it was an experience however, and everyone still enjoyed themselves......the nice thing about DVC is that there will always be another trip. we have tried the rest, and found the resort that fits us best :)
