DTD restaurant in evening with 3 kids?

I currently have ADRs at Raglan Road for 6pm in December with DH and our 3 kids (8 and under). Am I crazy to take the kids there ( I like to respect "adult" joints, because when I am out with DH only, we don't like to be around other kids), or can I expect kids everywhere at Disney? Better suggestions for dinner in DTD that DH and I will love the food and the kids won't be invading adults?

I've been there quite a few times there have always been kids there. I don't consider Raglan Road to be an adult place it's quite casual.

I don't know about "everywhere at Disney" but you can expect kids at Raglan Road, unless it's really late.

Keep you ADR at Raglan road. Its a great place!!! you will see other kids there, so dont worry.

Raglan Road is a bit more boisterous/bar-like than other Disney restaurants but you'll still see a lot of kids there. We've been there twice with our three kids, once for lunch and once for dinner to see the entertainment, and we've never been the only family with young children. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

6pm is perfectly acceptable. now if it were 9.. then yeah you'd have issues. besides its not what I would consider upscale at all. very casual. I highly recommend the fish n chips myself.

I am one of those child haters.. don't want 'em anywhere near me. as far as I am concerned, no your little Susie is NOT a well behaved toddler. even if she is.. by some vague definition that parents have decreed acceptable.

as such I choose to dine either is seriously child unfriendly venues( I'd eat at V&A nightly if I could afford to) or I choose to dine outside of 'normal' family dining.. such as after 730 pm. if all I could get is a 6 pm ressie then I'd suck it up and accept the fact that there will be kids in the dining room.

I think maybe we're sisters. OK, so I'm not really a child hater. I just have a really low tolerance for children who cannot behave in a restaurant. And an even lower tolerance for the 'parents' who allow the misbehaviour. That is why DH and I prefer to dine after 8:00pm whenever possible. Having said that, I have no problem with families with younger children in any of the restaurants anywhere on property in the earlier part of the evening.

Now I'm going OT. Why can't at least some of the signature restaurants have an 'adult only' area of the dining room, or enforce 'adult only' dining after a certain time in the evening? I know it's a family resort, but come on, give us grown-ups a break. It would be SO nice to know that I could have a (less expensive) alternative to V&A, where DH and I could enjoy a quiet, relaxed child free meal occasionally.

Minnie: check out Jiko and ask for the wine cellar room. itis MUCH smaller.. I think there were what, 5 tables in it. and all enclosed so you heard NOTHING from the main area.

I will concede.. it will not guarantee child free dining.. we were there past 8 pm and yes there was a pre toddler in a high chair in the room. however it was mostly silent the entire time( was already halfway through theirs when we were seated. the waitress made more noise fussing over it than the kid did)

Obviously we have kids, but we try to be so respectful of where we have them in the evenings. People are paying good money to go out to eat or even to a movie, and they do not want to hear kids. That's why I get so upset when DH and I have a date night and we get seated right next to the only toddler at a restaurant at 9pm, or the awesome family that brings all the kids to the rated R late showing of a movie.

Disney is an exception since it is a family destination, but even there, we would not dare take the kids to certain locations. The kids are miserable, we are miserable, etc.

I think that given the time you are going, you will not only fit right in, but you will really enjoy your meal. The ambiance is nice, the food is good, and even though you'll be there too early for the live entertainment, I'll bet the kids will like it too.

FWIW, according to their website Raglan Road won a National Kids Dining Award: http://www.raglanroad.com/raglan-wins-national-kid-dining-award I wouldn't be too concerned.
