Okay so I was thinking that the R&C Pub was different from the R&C resturant (they have different menus).

I wanted to try a Scotch Egg but wasn't planning on a full meal so thought I'd just run by for a snack since I thought the pub was a QS or a snackbar.

When I go to WDW reservations it shows the R&C and the Pub together for reservations.

Is this one place? Do I have to make a reservation to get an egg? Help!!!

If you make a reservation it is for the restaurant. The pub does not have reserved seating. "Rose & Crown Restaurant & Pub" is just the full name of the establishment.

You can't use dining credits in the pub, if that's relevant.

nope not on the dining plan, have very few plans for actual meals so doing OOP for a few TS and I know that even the DDP plan would be too "dining" for me. Even the QS meal was not working for my food plans as I'm not a huge dessert eater and I often split meals and I'm pretty happy with more quick little meals than big eating.

Now if they had the Disney Snacking plan maybe.

Thanks for the info, I just couldn't figure out why I had to make a reservation for a boiled egg.

We love those Scotch eggs that we can get at the pub. Sadly, there are only 4 tables with chairs in that pub and they are pretty hard to snag as the pub is always full of beer drinkers. They do have some standing tables and the bar area, of course, so you could stand while eating one. They come halved with a mustard dipping sauce.

AWWWW MAN!!!!!!! Now you've gone and done it! I haven't had a Scotch egg in years and now I can't stop thinking about it. And I still have 39 days to wait!!!. Thanks for that.:lmao:

I'm at like 32, so just a week before you I'll be having my first Scotch Egg. Sausage is not my favorite thing (in fact detest italian sausage but like breakfast type okay) but everytime I read the description I just go a little spacy...and start to drool.;)

Not to worried about sitting, if anything I'll take my egg and go. It kind of has that portable ambiance to it.

They serve it on a real plate with real silverware; I don't know that they will do it in any type of "to go" container.

We love the scotch eggs. Had them last November at the Pub. They did not have a to go plate.

oops, okay well good thing it's not a three course meal:lmao:

I was kinda thinking, it's a boiled deep fried egg, kinda lends itself to self contained and portable.

Solutions:
1) When I can't get a "scotch egg", I substitute.
2) I get a single malt scotch and a hard boiled egg.
3) After 3-4, I don't miss a true scotch egg.

OMG! I didn't even know they HAD these there. Recalculating:goodvibes...OK, my DH just loves these but there's no way we're going to sit around and wait for one. I'm going to see if I can order one at the pub from the bartender "to go". I have only 3 days til we're at epcot so I'll let you know if they're able to accomodate me. I don't think it's an odd request and I'm sure people get doggy bags all the time. We're just snacking around the world as well.

1) The bar does not have "to go" food.
2) But, you could always wrap it in a napkin and walk out.
3) Or, just stand at the table and eat it.
4) This is a pub, not a restaurant, so no ADR's.

LOL, I know, but every restaurant I've ever worked will put it in a to go container for you if you ask them to when you order. It's Disney, I'm pretty sure they have one around:lmao:

We don't drink and I'd hate to snag a table and waste some server's time just for a scotch egg.

I've never thought of a scotch egg as a "portable" type of food. At least not the scotch eggs I grew up eating in England. The are rather big, the egg is usually sliced in half then placed into the middle of big patty of sausage then lightly fried. It is meant to be eaten with a knife and fork and quite messy. I've never seen anyone walk around eating one on the go before, as it's not exactly a finger food type of appetizer.

A scotch egg is a whole hard boiled egg wrapped with sausage meat covered in a layer of breadcrumbs. Its very portable,a bit smaller than a tennis ball. Its usually served cold, my kids have them in their lunch boxes all the time. I cant see any reason why you couldnt wrap it in a napkin and go.

No servers in the pub. You order at the bar. Just pick up the egg in whatever form you receive it and carry it out with you (assuming you're going to eat it right away - I really wouldn't suggest letting it sit around - it's not in the shell). Bring a Ziploc if it will help. they might be able to put it in one of those paper containers they put the fish & chips in, all you can do is ask.
