Welcome, Foolish Muggles! IoA/US/MK/SW *July 2013 Trip Report Link*

I need to take some pointers from you guys!! You fit a ton of stuff into one day.

Best pieces of advice I can give are EARLY, EARLY, EARLY and don't let a minute of your FP window expire before you get the next one. Know where you are going next!

Can I just say that I'm exhausted READING about your 1 day at MK so far! :rolleyes1

All that runnin around for FP and all you managed to accomplish! :thumbsup2

guess I'm just used to that other park and EP....

Liking your day so far....

The day did not exhaust us because we were doing exactly what we wanted to. The thing that really drains us on vacation is not knowing what we are doing next

"Where do you want to go?" "I don't know, where do you want to go" and then standing around for 10 minutes talking about it. At MK, we are so familiar with the park that we know exactly what makes sense to do next.

Great day so far, but I bet you guys are ready for a rest. We will be going to Kona on our trip this time. We always do O'Hana's but since we are staying at the Poly we decided to do both.

We love Kona, and it worked perfectly because we used the monorail as a planned break in our day. Oh, yeah, and it's a ride, too!!!

Great day so far! Can't believe your boys don't like MP. My boys think it's funny. My youngest DS loves Donald.
We also love CHH. I gotta try the Anchor's Away- I mean tuna sandwich lol ;)
I have less than a week to go :woohoo:

I didn't say the boys didn't like MP. I said they claimed not to like it. One is a teen boy and the other is a preteen boy so if doesn't go fast or upside down or have lots of shooting or gore, they don't want to admit they enjoyed it!

Don't blame me if you order the wrong thing at CHH! I warned you!

Don't worry I won't blame you lol :)
My boys won't go on Jungle Cruise anymore.
Oh and nice picture in front of castle! I love how the photopass people will take a picture w/ your own camera.

ah see....we don't do that. I've learned what I have to do is offer 2 choices. Leaving it ALL up in the air doesn't work and doesn't end pretty. :rolleyes1 So, I offer "this" or "that"....you guys pick.

Mama is happy...so EVERYONE is happy. ;)

Hi I've been lurking for a wee while now as I love your trip reports (and the beach club thread) and have decided to finally pluck up the courage to ask how you manage to have so many fastpasses on the go at the one time?
Thanks for keeping us entertained with your travels during this wet and rainey Irish summer. Definitely brightens my day:)

Sounds like a great solution!

One of the problems we run into is that our boys have different tolerances for thrill rides. Ben will go on anything at Magic Kingdom, but at the Universal parks and Sea World we had to split up a couple of times. Ben rode Dragon Challenge once and Mummy once, but he wouldn't try Hulk.

:welcome:

I'm glad that you are enjoying the report and that you find the Beach Club thread helpful. I appreciate your nice comments!

Knowing when you are eligible to get a FP is key. And pretty simple, too, because in small print on each FP you get, it tells you the time when you can pull another one. We like to get our FP before we do anything else, so the time window for the next one can start as soon as possible , and we like to get one right before lunch, too.

That's too bad about Jungle Cruise :(

Have the boys seen the Weird Al video "Skipper Dan on the Jungle Cruise ride?". I wonder if watching that would encourage them to return.

It is nice when the Photopass photographers offer to use your camera too. I sometimes ask, but once I didn't and my PP pictures from RockNRollercoaster did not make it to my Photopass account. That was the only time we had our pictures taken there, so that was a new background for us.

No they haven't seen that video- have to check it out. :thumbsup2

We're not big Jungle Cruise fans either. :confused3
You had an amazing day so far!

Amanda

The boys are surprising tolerant of Jungle Cruise. This is one of those rides that I always feel that I have to ride because my first few visits to Disneyland/Disney World, the lines were either too long or it was closed for renovations, so I like to make sure that I ride it every trip now.

Mark read over my updates and now I have to go back and edit.

He reminded me that we rode Big Thunder Mountain again early in the morning- it was still a walkon after Splash and that we pulled a FP for Jungle Cruise immediately after riding it in the afternoon, so that we could try it out at night.

Before we had even left for Florida, Mark and I were (secretly) trying to figure out ways to take breaks that would allow us to prolong our stay at Magic Kingdom into the evening and hopefully avoid meltdowns resulting from exhaustion or overheating. One of our ideas was to have dinner at a monorail resort- take a break away from the park for a couple of hours, ride on the monorail for a bit and enjoy a nice sit down dinner.

I made a reservation for the Kona Cafe for 5 PM when they opened for dinner.

We considered taking the monorail all the way to EPCOT, looping around Future World and then travelling to the Poly, but that would have required quite a few transfers, exits and entrances, so instead, we decided we would ride the resort loop through the whole cycle (MK, CR, TTC, Poly, GF, MK, CR, TTC and Poly). We could just sit back in air-conditioned comfort and enjoy the views!

I think we boarded the monorail sometime around 4 PM.

Here we are pulling away from the station. The clouds looked a little ominous:

While we were on the monorail, Nate asked “What time are we eating?”

“Our reservation is at 5:00”

“Then why did we leave the park???”

Can I tell you that my heart filled with pride when I heard this question!

Mark and I may not have passed along an expertise in mathematics or a love of reading to the boy, but I am proud to discover that he has inherited our Disney Domination DNA. A commando soul lives on in the next generation. :)

Despite the protestations that we should still be at MK burning up rides, the rest of us recharged as the monorail went ‘round and ‘round.

Next up: Dinner at Kona

Great monorail pics! I love riding the monorail. Definitely something to look forward to. I'm trying to raise the next generation of Disney freaks. I think I'm doing a pretty good job. Zachary may be my best hope since he got the earliest start. :lmao:
It's funny about Jungle Cruise. I think I went to Disney twice as a child. This would have been in the late 70's and we definitely stayed off property. I remember my parents didn't care for Jungle Cruise, Peoplemover, or Carousel of Progress. I didn't return to Disney until I had children (my 1st trip since the 1970's was in 2008 while 20 weeks pregnant with Zachary). Tom has fond memories of Carousel of Progress (his dad was an engineer and that was a required attraction for each trip) so that's become a must-do. We also discovered that we loved Peoplemover. We didn't go on Jungle Cruise the first few trips and then in August of last year we tried it (we had been in line for Aladdin's carpets when the ride broke down so we got in line for Jungle Cruise instead). At the end of the ride, Tom turned to me and said, "I think we can wait another 30 years before we ride that again!" :rotfl2:

The monorail really is a ride!!! and a good one. My DH thinks I'm nuts b/c I take so many pictures of it. I must have one of every color from last years trip lol. My screen saver is even of the monorail going in front of the castle that I took from the GF when we stayed there in 08. I'm glad someone else appreciates the monorail like I do.
That was a great idea to ride the whole loop for a break. Can't wait to hear about Kona. We almost ate there this year. I can't remember what we decided on instead so maybe next yr.

It was kind of fun being on the airport mini-mono this year, teasing the kids that it would be their only monorail ride of the trip... :rolleyes1

Wow, Jungle Cruise is taking a beating!!!

It is amazing that when we ride, there are still some new jokes that are added to the script. We had one skipper last year that quoted Willy Wonka as we were entering the Asian tunnel.

The monorail is not only a ride, it is a game, too! Last year, my boys decided to do "punch buggy" whenever they saw a monorail go by. "Punch buggy, Blue!" "Punch buggy Orange" "Double for Tronorail!"

Fortunately, we didn't see the return of the game this year.

Do they still have the Tronorail? That was the boys' fav. (what a surprise lol).
I only have 1 picture of that one.
Cute punch buggy game- hope my boys don't pick it up lol.
Can't wait to read more!
Only 3more days :woohoo:

Wow, I can't believe your trip is getting so CLOSE!!! How exciting!

Good question-I don't know if the Tronorail is still around- I'm guessing no.

Here is my Tronorail picture from last year:

Do NOT mention the punch buggy game to the boys. It was NOT fun. Especially when they decided to involve us.

More monorail:

You will have to get your camera out again, new (refurbished) monorail color coming on line:

Peach

Just saw this thread and thought of you, but hopefully you will have an easier time following it than I did!
