Hellooooooo Everyone! I am so excited to be joining this side of the boards! I am completely new to DCL so please forgive my silly questions! :goodvibes

My DS3 (Jack) and I are going to be embarking on a 7 day Mexican Riviera cruise leaving from LA on 10/30/11. Here we are in Nassau in front of the Pirate Museum in May:
cC

We originally had a 5 night WDW trip planned for MNSSHP and F&W Festival. Then on Friday, I got an email saying that a bunch of Travel Agent Appreciation Offers had been released for upcoming sailings so I checked it out and decided instantly I wanted to do it. I was at work, so I ran next door to my boss to see ifI could take off that much time, and then verified with my agency it was ok for me to take advantage of the offer (since I am a newer agent) and within an hour was booked!! It was such a fantastic deal, I couldn't pass it up. We will also spent 2 nights at Disneyland after. So now we have a 10 night vacation for roughly the cost of the 5 night WDW trip I had planned!

I have cruised twice with Jack, once when he was 1 1/2 with NCL on a 3 night Bahamas cruise, and just this past May (he had just turned 3) with Carnival on a 5 night Eastern Caribbean. I also went on Disney's "Big Red Boat" before DCL existed, when I was 8 (or 10, I can't remember). Cruising and Disney are my two favorite vacations, so I am thrilled to be combining the two for the first time ever! I am a bit sad about missing MNSSHP and F&W, but we went to WDW last September (TR here) and December (TR here), so it's probably best we are trying somthing new!

Traveling as a single mother is interesting to say the least. There is a lot of juggling that goes on, but as Jack gets older, it gets easier. I am especially excited that Jack will have such an awesome kids club on the Wonder, so I might actual get some "mommy" time!! :cloud9:

So in summary:
Who: Me and Jack
What: 7 night Mexican Riviera on the Wonder, 2 days at DLR
When: cruise 10/30-11/6, DLR 11/6-11/8

I am hoping some of my readers will follow me here... If you are interested in checking out a mini TR (not completed yet) for my May cruise, it's in my previous PTR here. I also have a couple blogs, one specifically about our adventures, links are in my signature!

Awesome! So glad someone is taking advantage of those rates. I have been waiting for something here on the east coast...got excited when something started to appear...ack! It was west coast. Enjoy! And looking forward to reading more about your plans!

I'm heeeeeeeeeeeere! :teeth:

:welcome:
And you're 1st!

I am so glad I could take advantage of it! My vacation time rolls on October 20, and I don't have any to spare till then, so I was thrilled there was a sailing after that!! I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

I'm here and sooooooo jealous!

:welcome:
Jen, I am still jealous of you about the AEP thing. 13 days???? That's less than 2 weeks! Next year we will swap and I will do AEP and you can take a cruise!

So today I spent some time at Target... returning $45 worth of stuff I had bought fro our WDW trip. I felt bad since it was on about 8 different reciepts, but I really don't need any of it, and I had them put it on a gift card which I will probably turn around and spend on cruise stuff :lmao: They do have a cute tote bag I had been eyeing before, and it's 25% off now, but they still have a ton of them, so I am going to wait it out a bit longer to see if the price drops more!

In other news, I had been concerned about Jack being allowed in the Oceaneer Club since when I pulled up my reservation online, it had him listed as eligibel for the nursery :scared1: There was no way that was going to go well, so I emailed and got a response within about 2 hours! They told me that once I begin online check in, it will ask if Jack is potty trained, and if so it will allow me to register him for the Oceaneer Club. Thank goodness.

This is a great example of how clueless I am about DCL. This is really going to be a (fantastic) learning experience for me. I have cruised before, but Disney is a different animal, and I can't wait to find out more. My next project is to find out about FE's, and see if I can find others going on this cruise!!

HI! Joining in!

My DH and I booked a MR cruise for December 11th of this year, so we're very much looking forward to it!

Can't wait to hear all about it!

Hi Stephanie! I'm Lauren. I saw your picture on MWT and realized I had read some of your reports before. I'm looking forward to reading about your plans and trip. I need all the help i can get to convince my DH he will in fact like cruises!

Hey Lauren! Thanks for joining! I will do everything I can to help you in your quest to convince your DH!! I am still working on my may (non Disney) review, it's on my original fall PTR, and I will probably post it on my blog when it's (finally) finished!

For those of you who are new to my insanity, every two weeks (roughly) my family and I have Disney movie theme night. We rotate on who picks the movie, and then have food and an activity, and sometimes some decor all themed around it for dinner. It's a fun way to disneyfy our lives, especially while we are waiting for a trip. So without further ado... we invite you to Be Our Guest!

Yep it was Beauty and the Beast night at our house last night! This was my sister's choice, and it was relatively last minute, so I apologize for the lack of "flair" involved!

Our activity was decorating bookmarks. (Belle loves to read!)

For dinner we had crepes made by my sister (this is why she chose a French based movie), Nicoise Salad (minus the tuna) and French cheese (Brie).

For dessert we had chocolate mousse! (if you look really closely you might be able to see the rose engraved on these glasses)

It was a quickie night, Jack has been sick, but he enjoyed it anyways!

Omgosh. This is literally the cutest/awesomest thing EVER! The food looked fantastic!

This is something I need to keep in mind whenever we start having little ones :goodvibes

Thanks!!! The funny part is it's not just for Jack, I just use him as an excuse, lol.

I forgot to mention I made one trip purchase! I got the 2011 Unofficial guide to Disneyland!!! I LOVE unofficial guides. I will use any excuse to buy them. I am not sure when they put out their next year's edition though, so I will hold onto this to make sure they 2012 edition doesn't come out too soon. I haven't had a chance to start reading it, but I can't wait! I have the WDW practically memorized... :lmao:

Did you mention where you were staying at for Disneyland? Or did I completely skip over it?:confused3

Nope, you didn't miss it! I am going to get to that in my update todsay :goodvibes I am trying to pace things so I can force people to keep reading :lmao:

Last night I was at Target ( in case there is anyone who doesn't know, Target is my favorite place on earth, except Disney) picking up a few items and I realized I was getting close to spending $50. I have a coupon that gives me a $5 gift card once I spend $50. So I decided it must be time to buy the tote bag I was eyeing, since it was already on sale anyways.

I also discovered that the Unoffical Guide for 2012 will probably be out late August/September, so I put the 2011 edition down and will return it soon, and get the newer one :goodvibes

Now onto trip info. As I said before, we will be spending 2 nights after our cruise at Disneyland! I :lovestruc the Disneyland Hotel, but there is NO WAY I could justify spending over $300 a night on a room. And I am NOT payint $250 a night for Paradise Pier. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but I have stayed there several times, once before it was even PP, and I just can't justify that kind of $$. So I looked around at Good Neighbor hotels and found the perfect one!

ry%3D400

It is located right across from Disneyland! It's newly refurbished, and it EVEN has Disney themed rooms, so we can get our Disney fix. Also it was only $134 a night, which is WAY more reasonable! They have several Disney themed rooms:
Nemo:

Mickey:

Pirates:

Cars:

Princess:

And a Toy Story Suite!

The pool is nothing special, but we will probably had our fill of water anyways:

And they have a cute kids check in area:

As well as a small market/Pizza Hut Express:

When I made reservations, I only asked that we NOT have the princess room, since Jack will love any of the others. I am super happy with our choice, I have heard lots of good things about it from other people in my agency, and it's the right combination of Disney and price and proximity.

I bet you and Jack are going to have a fabulous time :cool1::sail:

I hope you don't struggle with the shower curtain like I did :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Bring an over-the-door hanging type of thing, it works great to keep all those little things organized and out of the way :thumbsup2

Hope Jack enjoys the Club so you can have some Mommy Time :goodvibes

Do you have late dining? If so, make sure to take advantage of Dine & Play ;)

Hi! We are on the same cruise!!! Looks like you found us on the cruise meets board and let us know if you have any more questions about FE. I had a ton of questions at the start as this is my first DCL cruise too (my first cruise period actually)

Those Fairfield rooms look great. One of our future trips will most likely be there. Skip wants to go to CA. I do to, but just not enough time and money to fit it all in.

Lol, are the shower curtains tricky? Just what I need! At least now I know in advance!

I though I had bought an over the door thing but now I can't find it... I will have to search in the depths of my basement!

I am sure Jack will enjoy the club this time around. It's Disney, how can he not??

We do have late dining. At first I was concerned, so I waitlisted us for early dining, but the early seems really early! I think we will be ok with late, we are probably just going to be staying up real late and sleeping in :cloud9: I am hoping to do the dine and play at least a couple days.

:welcome:
Yes, I found the board, and I am looking forward to the tshirts etc! Is there an actual meet planned as well? I found a FE I want to order. So basically I just buy little presents for all the people on the list? Is there some guideline of what to buy? And everyone posts their room # and we just deliver them? lol, I guess I do have questions, lol. I bet you are going to love cruising, though they say DCL ruins you for other cruise lines. I guessI will find out! :rotfl:

CA is expensive, and there is so much to see there you could spend weeks and not see it all! But it's so worth it! I lived there for 6 years, so if you ever have questions, let me know! I am really excited about the Fairfield rooms, I am looking forward to being surprised!
