Trouble with car rental at Lakeland?

I have been trying to get rates for car rentals from Hertz and Usave at Lakeland airport, but due to the fact that the flight on Direct Air that I was looking at doesn't arrive until 9:25pm, car rental seems to be a distinct problem. The web site won't allow me to get info. as the rental company is not open at either my arrival time nor my departure time on Sunday afternoon. Can't understand this as it makes it impossible to book this flight since we have to get to a condo in Orlando area and need a rental car. Anyone else have this type of problem at Lakeland? Any suggestions?

That's frustrating.

But if the flights are a good deal, couldn't you get a prearranged taxi/limo to pick you up at the airport, and get your rental car the next morning from a rental place nearer your accommodations? Don't panic at the thought that you will be trapped without a car... it's surprisingly easy to get a complimentary lift to a rental place, or to find a rental place you can get to on free transport/shuttle.

Thursday night Feb.2nd from Niagara Falls to Lakeland leaves at 6:45pm and arrives at 9:25pm and then returning on Sun. Feb. 12th at 3:15pm departure time. This means would likely drop off rental car around 1pm or so. No looking at a shuttle since we are staying at someone's condo near Disney but not on property. Thanks.

Yes ,,,, I'm get an error code that you can't drop off the car at that time
"Return Date or Time - This location is closed at the time indicated. Please adjust your return or select an alternate location. [DE357]"

Same problem for https://www.rentawreck.com The issue is Sunday.

My BFF is using Direct Air in three weeks and she has a super early flight on the way home. We rented with Usave and the agent we spoke too said there was someone there whenever Direct Air arrives and departs. They were super accommodating. You may have to call them and explain your situation.

I was having the same issue with a 5:15 pm arrival! But figure it is b/c the flight is in March and that they would have someone there. The $674 for 4 round trip is so far below what we could possibly hope to find that the rental car or shuttle cost is worth it!

Although I have to admit that I will really miss having my luggage delivered!

Bags cost extra on DIrect Air so make sure you have factored that in for your trip. Not a huge expense though since the airfare is such a good deal.

Here are the hours posted on the Hertz website for the location. They are supposed to directly mirror the flights currently going in and out of the airport. Does your itinerary begin in the fall?
We are booked from Plattsburg NY to Lakeland in January/February and our flight times aren't reflected in the Hertz website either and I am having the same trouble booking. I am hoping this is because it's a ways off yet and will have no trouble once the flights start rolling in on that schedule. Maybe a call to the Hertz location (not the 1-800 # because they don't seem to know anything)

and the car rental is closed at both my arrival and my departure times. My flights are for early Feb. 2012 so it is possible it will change by then, but I am hesitant to book my flights now if car rental is unknown. We don't travel often so I prefer to have all my questions answered before confirming anything. SUch a nusiance too since Direct Air have some great deals on right now.

Hours of operation mirror Direct Air's flight schedules and representatives are onsite daily until all reservations from the last flight of the day have been picked up. Follow the links below to reserve your vehicle.

If for some reason the Hertz website does not allow you to book the times you want, you should be able to do it over the phone.
I'm also thinking that since the additional flights were added to DirectAir's schedule, the Hertz website has not updated their dates and times to accomodate them.

My pickup time is not a problem.....but I phoned the Laklalnd Hertz number directly to ask about dropping off (because their office was supposed to be closed) and they said they have a key -drop box right on site and its a simple process.

I was able to book with u-Save for an arrival on Feb 19th and a departure on Feb. 23. Not crazy about my rate, and am hoping I can get better with Hertz.

What sort of rates are people getting? I most likely will need it for more than 1 week, so it seems that that is much higher priced. Any luyck calling direct..etc.

US thanksgiving and it seems that the car rental places would not be open..no biggies as I could stay at the airport hotel for the night... still it is complicated, but worth trying to save the big $$$$

i am waiting to hear back from Hertz because there appears to be a glitch in the online booking system (no matter what day or time you type into the vehicle request line, it comes back as temporary unavailable......unless its after Nov 25th). Hertz has confirmed that their Lakeland Airport location will be open for all arriving and departing DirectAir flights.

By the way, the deal out of Platsburgh.......$505 for 3 folk....taxes incl.....is a great deal !

I got this email from Hertz

Our Lakeland Airport location is closed November 24 for the Thanksgiving holiday. This office is also closed on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. We apologize for your inconvenience.

I also received an email from Usave (the other renter)... They are opened Thanksgiving.
I thought I read somewhere that every day Directair has a flight
