For anyone who is flying to WDW, Direct Air has a 50% off sale until July 30. I just checked the prices and for 4 people to fly from Niagara Falls, NY to Lakeland, FL the cost including taxes would be $656.00! DH really wants to drive (yuck) this time round so not sure if I can talk him into flying or not but thought I'd let everyone else know about the sale! :goodvibes

Just remember there's no Magical Express at this airport, it's not MCO... you'll have to arrange shuttle or car rental :goodvibes

Yes, that's correct, thanks for pointing that out. There are a couple of rental companies in the airport and some in the surrounding area with free pick up service I believe. Their hours don't seem as flexible but with saving that much money on the flight it's worth the extra work. :)

Is there a shuttle from this airport to Disney? If so, does it run at all times? Most of direct air flights return home at 7:30am so would need one to leave from Disney at 5:30amish?

So tempting for November..wished they flew in October. The shuttle does not seem too bad.. for 3 people under $100 each way. I would save over $500, inluding needing the shuttle. Of course the price of the shuttle might be close to the cost of a car rental.. not sure what the prices are for car rentals in Lakeland At least I have a few days to decide

When you say "wished they flew in October"....Is that when you want to go ?......because ,They do fly in October.
I priced Hertz to pick up from Lakeland and drop off (the same day )in Orlando.
It was $36 incl tax.....you would of course need transporation after the drop off (unless it was dropped at Disney location and you were staying onsite)
I also priced for week in November (pick up and drop off at Lakeland).
$196 incl tax

Thanks for the info about the car prices. $36 one way is pretty good. As for the October flight... I =guess is it just my location (Plattsburgh) that is only starting flights in NOvember. Would have loved to gone to MNSSHP. Oh well another year then ;)

Ahh...sorry
I incorrectly made the assumption that you were flying out of Niagara Falls

Did you use a discount to get these rates. When I do a same day pick and return (different location) I cannot get lower than $54 txes included...

Booked.. decided to fly from Niagara instead of plattsburh.. a few $$ more expensive and 3 hour longer drive.. but more flights and better flight times... now to get my car rental!!

No discount codes.
I am actually doing 2 one day rentals (a few hours actually) at the end of November and one day at the beginning of December (Going from Lakeland to Port Canaveral and the reverse when we get back from the cruise).

I was a little off when I said $36....its $39.

This is a copy of the rental to the port.

Good for you :thumbsup2
Hope you get the car sorted out.

I was so tempted with this offer, I just about booked it one way last night. They only have the 3 flights a week, so the return isn't such a good deal since we'd have to stay two more nights.
I decided to check the reviews for direct air first, and found out that they cancel flights, alot. So with all the planning and money I have tied up into this trip, I really would hate to miss the first few days of it! So I didn't book.

Hope all goes well with everyone else, I would have really loved to save some money!!

Hello Disney Fans,

I posted this a few days ago under transportation and just directing it here! Thanks for any help!

Just wondering if anyone has flown Direct Air out of Niagara Falls NY to Florida and if you can provide details on your experience with them. I assume going to Disney we would want to fly into the Lakeland/Orlando airport?

We are planning our trip Nov 24/25 to Dec 2/3 and right now they are cheaper than flying out of Buffalo.
I have read mixed reviews, some real bad ones, about Direct Air from other airports.

Thank you

I would like to know the same. I am flying out of Plattsburg, NY on the 26th of November and returning on Dec 3rd. I have never flown on Direct Air, but am a little nervous. I continue to check the fullness of the plane on those days, and the plane is no where near full! Thank Goodness I did purchase the trip insurance through WDW, but I don't know if I should have these fears or not.... I don't want to cancel this trip! We are riding the shuttle on H and H transport. Another thing, will they be at WDW on the day of departure so we won't miss the flight?

I am bumping up this older thread because I found it doing a search for info on DirectAir. I booked out of Niagara Falls NY for late April with the 50% off sale. About 750 for the 4 of us, with bag fees, taxes and seat selection. (560 return for four people without the extras). It was 80 dollars to select all of our seats which I debated about. In the end, dd who will be 15 is a nervous flyer and ds is only going to be 8 years old, so it really was important that we sit together. I don't imagine the plane will be full, but you never know.

I do have a friend who has used them several times from Niagara Falls NY to fly elsewhere in Florida, and he loves them so I am happy to give it a try.

We'll be renting a car with Hertz. I am debating right now on renting one directly from the airport or getting a taxi to somewhere else in Lakeland to rent.
Has anyone done this? Other locations in Lakeland seem quite a bit cheaper than the airport itself, so it would be nice if I could.
Otherwise I will wait for a deal or use our Hertz gold status and a CAA code or one of the mousesavers codes.

Interested to hear if anyone has used this airline for a Disney trip recently! I will report my findings as soon as we do.. but we're still six months away:goodvibes

ETA) the 50% off sale ends today, but it covered dates really far out so it is worth a look!
