A Stringbean, a Wingnut, and a plan! (A January '12 PTR) TRIP REPORT STARTED!! 1/16!!

Reading your plans makes me wish my kids would let me try more new places!!

I think your idea about using snacks as a meal is brilliant. There could be no better lunch than a Dole Whip and a funnel cake:thumbsup2!

One year ago today, July 19th, was the day of my open heart surgery. The mitral valve repair that really and truly did save my life.

I missed the one year celebration while I was at camp. I am so glad that wise doctors were able to help you enjoy a wonderful life! Here's to many fun Disney trips in the future to add magic :wizard: to the wonderfulness. :goodvibes

We had a fantastic meal at Jiko last September, it was just so darn delicious. I adored that BBQ Chicken Flatbread. Reading about Jiko makes me wonder if we should be going there again. I really want to try new places though, there is just never enough time to fit everything you want in every trip.

Jiko was really the best restaurant of our last trip, we absolutely loved it too! Oh that BBQ chicken flatbread! Isn't it soooooo good??

We really wanted to try new places too, but KNEW we couldn't not go to Jiko. So we're doing pretty much all new places (with the exception of breakfast, mostly repeats there), plus Jiko. It's definitely fun trying new places, but I say there's always space for a favorite or two!

I read your last trip report and really enjoyed it. I saw a post from you on another trip report and noticed a new link in your signature. I'm glad I found it. Happy planning.

Thank you, welcome back!! Glad to have you aboard! :goodvibes

I always forget about Kouzzina as a breakfast option! :scared1: Jiko sounds amazing, I really would love to eat there sometime! Maybe when I'm finally brave enough to stay at AKL! :rotfl:

Hahaha it's easy to forget they have breakfast there, especially if you aren't staying in the Epcot resort area! But I love their breakfast, and it's so easy to hop the Friendship boat to Epcot or DHS after!

:rotfl: I don't think I would ever actually stay at AKL, but that's never stopped us from eating there many times! I would definitely recommend a dinner at Jiko, it's awesome there!

Hahaha awww - well most of the menus seem to be pretty accomodating to kids, maybe you can still go!

I'm really hoping to fit in some more snacks this trip! I agree, especially with a cupcake for dessert! :yay:

Thank you!!! :goodvibes I know, I'm so grateful that there are people that are able to do all of these amazing things.

Congrats on making the yr mark after your surgery :goodvibes and when you guys said you like to dine at WDW you weren't kidding huh :rotfl: you have a great line up of ADR's on day 2 and 3...I truly hope you love CP...we dined there (w/ kids) in '08 and really enjoyed it...the inside is so bright and airy and it is a lovely buffet...I have a sweetspot for WTP, especially Piglet...so enjoy :thumbsup2 plus walking down a nearly empty Main Street toward Cinderella castel is awesome...

(Does anyone know if LTT has non-dairy ice cream that could possibly go atop my theoretical Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake? Yes, these are the things I ponder.)

my youngest is GF and diary free...they brought her a very oversized scoop of dairy free ice cream here...can't remember if it was Rice dream or Tofutti but she loved it

Loved Jiko! Really good. Love the tuna appetizer. It was delish!

Ahh, another contender in our appetizer decision! This one isn't going to be easy!

Hahaha oh no, we mean business when we go to Disney to eat! We love WDW dining! We're really excited about our ADR lineup (more to come!). I think we'll definitely enjoy CP, it seems so pretty inside, and we've heard great things about the buffet! (And I am SO excited to walk down the pre-park opening Main Street!) :yay:

Oooh that's great to know, thanks for sharing! Either one is great with me! :thumbsup2

Yay for Kouzzina!!

Snacks are the best meal (next to cereal. I have subsided for days only on Cap'n Crunch in undergrad :rolleyes1) EVER.

I've never had boar before. Is there something that it's similar to? Or it just like pork with less fat? I think I'm making this way more fancy-sounding in my own mind than it actually is!

We're doing Crystal Palace for breakfast just to get inside early and get pictures. :) We're definitely not character people. I've been debating trying to convince my boyfriend to do Phineas and Ferb if they're still there, but they look so.. awkward? in pictures. I like them in the animated form (and we've watched a considerable number of hours of that show to make that comparison this summer ) much better.

Cereal truly is the meal of champions! My personal favorite is Honey Bunches of Oats ! But yes, a good substitute is an ice cream bar!

I would say, from the small amount of boar that I've had, that it is like very tender and lean beef. It was very much like eating filet mignon (at least, the Jiko appetizer was!). Anyone with more boar experience than I, feel free to chime in!

We're not character people either (at ALL), but I don't think I would pass up the opportunity to meet Phineas and Ferb if I encountered them (with a reasonable wait, of course!). I do get what you mean about them looking strange in pictures, but I tend to think that all of the characters do, kind of . Maybe because (at least the not-face characters) are just so big and don't talk?

It's funny, I love watching Phineas and Ferb, and it usually happens to be on when I am flipping through the channels. Wingnut always wanders by like, "is this the 24-hour Phineas and Ferb network??" :rotfl:. (Not that I'd be complaining if it was!)

(I fully and completely admit that I stole this idea from LL's PTR...with her permission of course :littleangel:)

Have you guys seen these before? The 30 day questionnaire challenges? I had seen the 30 Day Disney Parks Challenge awhile ago, and had always wanted to answer it, and thought that this was the perfect forum for everyone to chime in!

Day 1: Your Favorite Park

Animal Kingdom. Obviously.

:rotfl:

(Sorry, AK fans)

(For everyone who doesn't know the backstory behind this...here you go!)

My favorite park is entirely and wholeheartedly Epcot.

I love Future World, I love World Showcase. I love Club Cool, with its blaring pop music and sticky floors. I love Ellen's Energy Adventure, all 43 minutes of it. I love Boulangerie Patisserie, Mitsukoshi, and browsing the shops in Mexico under twilight.

I love the music.

How about you? What's your favorite park?

Magic Kingdom. I absolutely adore Main Street USA. I could listen to the Main Street Loop on repeat all day long

wow you must be in sales :rotfl: love your descriptions! for me it's Magic Kingdom all the way...:goodvibes The castle, walking down Main Street, the classic rides, Dole Whips, the parades and wow so much more...here is one of my new most fav pixs from MK (from my Jan trip last yr)

(spoiler for my group TR) it was our last morning, a cool beautiful day, and the park was nearly empty just finished riding down to the castle w/ 2 of my pals in the horse drawn carriage (for the 1st time ever) and here I was standing just feeling the MAGIC! Loved it!

I love this Challenge! I was going to do it on my PTR, like you and LL, but I think I'm going to do it on FB instead!

My favorite park is also Epcot, no question! I could live in the World Showcase, if they let me! Just give me a little apartment in France or the UK section and I'll be set! :rotfl:

I can't pick a favorite, really.

Magic Kingdom is the classic park, and if I am in the mood to ride or have the girls with me, Magic Kingdom is the obvious choice.

We all love Animal Kingdom. We enjoy watching the animals and learning more about them. I love watching Brooklynn as she takes it all in.

My favorite ride in all the parks is Soarin'. I love wandering World Showcase, but I enjoy doing that more when I am just having some walking around alone time, because I can stop and take as many pictures as I want without slowing anybody down.

Hollywood would come in last, but I love the lights at night, seeing Beauty and the Beast, free falling on Tower of Terror, and ending the day with Fantasmic.

I cannot answer this question on the grounds that I just don't know the answer. :upsidedow

Poor MeMom, I don't think she can handle picking her favorites. :goodvibes

Mine is Magic Kingdom but honestly I almost want to say Hollywood Studios because I love the feel of Hollywood Studios, it just makes me happy.

DHS was my favorite up until our 2009 trip, where I became obsessed with Epcot! I LOVE Hollywood Studios, it's definitely tied with MK for my 2nd favorite park...then AK comes in a distant third!

I love Main Street too!! I love that it's peaceful and exciting at the same time. (Does that even make sense?)

Hahaha I'll be sure to get good pictures from there, I promise! :thumbsup2

 Nope, not in sales, just entirely enamored with WDW :rotfl:. I do love MK, there are just so many classic and wonderful spots in that park.

That's a great picture! I love the pics of nearly-empty parks, I'm hoping to get some good ones on our next trip!

I've never actually ridden in the horse-drawn carriage, this is the closest I've gotten

Wingnut and I had been making our way down Main Street, and I had no idea the horse was right next to me! It looks like a fun way to start your MK day though!

I love this Challenge! I was going to do it on my PTR, like you and LL, but I think I'm going to do it on FB instead!

I love the challenge too, I thought it was a great idea!

Yea Epcot!!! :woohoo: I would SO be your WS neighbor! I would also consider living in that quaint upper part of the Canada pavilion, that seems like a nice spot too! (And you'd have the views of the waterfall :thumbsup2)

Magic Kingdom! Luv it:goodvibes

I love Magic Kingdom too! I think MK is my close-second favorite :lovestruc

Hey, equal love for all the parks is perfectly okay! I still wish I liked Animal Kingdom more. I feel like I'm missing something there (beyond a sense of direction ) that would make it all click for me.

Soarin' is a great ride, isn't it? I was just listening to that music driving home from work yesterday!

I think the atmosphere around DHS is wonderful, it really feels glamorous and Hollywood on that main front street at night with the lights.

Poor MeMom, I don't think she can handle picking her favorites. :goodvibes

Mine is Magic Kingdom but honestly I almost want to say Hollywood Studios because I love the feel of Hollywood Studios, it just makes me happy.

 If Epcot wasn't such a frontrunner for me, I think I'd have a problem choosing between parks too!

I know what you mean about DHS. There are some parts of that park that are unparalleled, like the Osborne Lights. All I wish is that they had just slightly better dining options!

DHS was my favorite up until our 2009 trip, where I became obsessed with Epcot! I LOVE Hollywood Studios, it's definitely tied with MK for my 2nd favorite park...then AK comes in a distant third!

Hahaha my park-obsession order is pretty similar to yours! (Maybe MK edges out DHS just slightly, but that sometimes depends on the day )

Day 2's question - Your favorite land in the Magic Kingdom?

I'm going to have to go with Adventureland. I adore walking over that bridge from Main Street and jamming (oh yes, I jam) to the area music.

Adventureland also contains a few of my most favoritest rides: the Jungle Cruise, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

I attempted to get an answer out of Wingnut, but he is staying tight-lipped and won't give me even an approximation of area. If I were to play "guess his favorite land," I'm thinking it would be Adventureland as well. Either that or Liberty Square. Probably.

How about you? What's your favorite land in the Magic Kingdom? :goodvibes

I'm going with Liberty Square but you probably already knew that from my report. :lmao: Although, Maine Street is probably my very favorite area. I love the feel that you get when you step on Main Street for the first time during your trip, I just love it.
