When's the best time to book flight for March 2012?

We were in Disney last May, flew with SW. Not the best experience, but that was my fault, as I totally forgot about the online check in and didn't remember until midnight and got us a C boarding number...:headache:

We are going again March 2-12/2012 and I've started priceing the flights from Buffalo to Orlando. I thought about directair, but it doesn't offer a flight home until the 14th, so with the days of staying there's no saving. So it will probably be Jetblue or SW, but SW doesn't have their prices up yet!:sad1:

I see some people have already started booking, should I??:upsidedow

I booked flights home from MCO to BUF direct on Mon Mar 19th for $104. Flights there on Mar 11th were too high when they came out and are really high now(Jet Blue). I am waiting for South West for those :rolleyes1
If I see a price I can live with, I book. :surfweb:
Good luck everyone!

If you see a price you like, book it. They will either just go up as time goes on, or drop, in which case, you can get a voucher for the price difference to apply to a flight at a later date. I've done this in the past and it's great!

My mom thought I was nuts for booking our Nov flights months ago, our flights have almost doubled in price. Guess it was good to book early:woohoo:

Prices from Moncton/Halifax to Orlando in late Feb/early March 2012 are still very high.....I can only imagine living in Ontarion that you'd have some options.

I'm looking at all possibilities, including using some airmiles for a potion of the trip.

The segment from Newark to Orlando is about $200 return....but I still need to get to Newark.....

Right now, I'm trying like crazy to collect airmiles.....it's the best option for me right now. If I can collect another 1000 airmiles in the next month or two, the taxes and fees potion of the fare is only $150 each.....so $600 return (for family of 4)...that's a price I can live with

Booked our March 2012 flights in April 2011.

Even then I thought I waited too long. The price went up by $50/per person/ one way by the time I decided. Lesson Learned.

Glad I'm not the only one that does the "sooner rather than later" thing:thumbsup2

I am a bit puzzled by something.
You said you were going Mar 2nd to 12th.....but then you talk about flying home on the 14th ?
You can get a flight on Directair from the 2nd to 12th for $177 return including tax ! (using the 50% off sale that is in effect until Saturday.
Code Number OHSOLOW

You can come back on the 15th ,by the way for the same price

I was looking at Direct Air too in the past and they only had flights for my Feb. dates on Fri. Sat and Sunday. But checked again recently and there are now flights on Thursday evening too so it's likely worth checking them again for your dates. Flights may have changed for March too. Not too keen on the hour drive to Orlando and not sure what car rental will be like at Lakeland yet so I am a bit hesitant to do this one. Like the idea of flying into smaller airports though. Just wish the fees for luggage wasn't so high as it makes it hard for Direct Air to compete as well with Southwest and Jet Blue.

Yes....you are correct they recently added flights and go 5 times per week from Niagara to Lakeland.
the drive from Lakeland Linder to the west end of Lake Buena Vista is a 45 minute drive (which is nothing.... really:))
Although the luggage fees are a bit of a bummer, the 50% sale (for most flights about $64 each way )is by far the best deal around (way better than SWA,Jetblue or Air Tran.......even when you do factor in the baggage cost, your still ahead of the game.
For our past several trips, we have gone to villas or condos (with a washer a dryer)so we only take a carry on bag (roller bag allowance is quite generous on Directair of 22"x14"x9"). :thumbsup2

I plan very far ahead. I usually book my DVC accomodations 11 mths in advance, so flights are always on my mind.

:thumbsup2

My husband says it's a sickness! But he doesn't complain when everything is booked. ;)

Here is the link to their carry on and luggage policy....

http://www.visitdirectair.com/policies_and_procedures/baggage/

having said that; if you dont want to read the whole thing...it's $30 for the first piece, $35 for the second. You are only allowed for 2 pieces of checked luggage. I don't recall of the top of my head what the fee is for oversized and overweight luggage. That, you'll have to read:)
