It's not Buffy, and it's not Angel, but it has some clever banter, and tonight was pretty steamy!

I watched the original ones in the early/mid 2000's that were shown simultaneously in the UK/Canada... haven't watched it recently though.

I caught episode 1 of Miracle Day and really liked it. I haven't seen the more recent episodes yet, however. :-S

This is my first season, too, and I'm enjoying it.

Yup, saw the original run of the series....

Now watching the new U.S. version....though I have to admit, I prefer the original....maybe I should just wait and see if this one grows on me. :confused3

lol yeah saw some of those steamy caps yesterday, i have loved john barrowman since Central Park West

It only started in 2007...
And I said I watched the original series in the early to mid 2000s. I did not research the exact air date. The original productions were a joint venture between CBC and BBC or ITV, i believe BBC... it was on CBC here when it first aired; i believe in 2006 in the original un-edited formats.

Like the Doctor Who reboot in '05, Torchwood was a product of BBC Wales for the first three series; the current, fourth, series is a "joint venture" between BBC and Starz in the US. (It's really a Starz production under license from the BBC.)

The original Torchwood was a CBC/BBC production and had far more explicit material as those things are allowed on public TV on BBC and here in Canada.

Sorry, it was definately produced by BBC Wales for the first 3 series.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torchwood

"The first three series of Torchwood, the programme was produced in-house by BBC Wales."

I know it's a quote from Wikipedia but in this instance it's right.

Also, although Torchwood was post watershed (9pm un the UK) it was always on "free to air" TV available to all of the UK with a digital box (which is most of the UK as we're switching to Digital transmission only over here).

In fact the last episode aired over here has to have the raciest scene I've seen in Torchwood (Jack get's his freak on! Way cool!) and that wen't out at 9pm on BBC1.

Ok, having said that, yes I'm watching the current series, I'm a big fan. I must admit though I'm not liking it as much as the previous series but I think that's because to an extent it's been 'Americanised' and in this case if doesn't really work for me.

And again...

Torchwood is popular in the English-speaking North American continent; in fact, The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation helped to finance the series, as they had the revived production of Doctor Who in 2005. On 2 April 2007, BBC America had acquired the rights to broadcast the series in the United States.[138] The series started on 8 September 2007;[139] the initial broadcast of the series was tied-in to a "radical makeover" of the channel that was to occur later in 2007.[138] The second series started on BBC America 26 January 2008,[140] and the third on 20 July 2009.[17] Torchwood has become one of the higher rated programmes for BBC America with its first series première in September 2007 attracting an audience of almost half a million viewers.[141] HDNet acquired the US high definition rights for the first 26 episodes (Series 1 and 2) and began airing Series 1 episodes on Monday evenings, starting 17 September 2007.[142] On Monday 11 February 2008 HDNet began showing Series 2 episodes.

The Canadian network CBC was a co-producer of series one.

The above is a snip from wiki... it was a BBC/CBC co production.

Lol!

What can I say? Us people who live in Wales tend to get tetchy when people try to steal our thunder. :)

It's not like we get to crow about stuff often... :D

I love the production values of Season 4. Very polished. Though I'm going crazy trying to figure who or what is running Ficor and why they are creating these "plague hospitals" for the dead. Oh, and the ending of the last episode with Mare Winningham and the car (I won't spoil it for those who haven't watched it yet) was so creepy!

As soon as you saw where she was, you knew it was coming, which was even creepier. Yeesh!
