Grrr! Coupons are the pits right now!

For weeks now coupons in my paper have stunk! I am finding very little I can use and even less that match up with a sale! WTHeck is going on?! I used to do very well and had a good but not crazy stock pile.

I'm having a usable coupon drought!! I'm thinking of just moving over to Aldi for anything that isn't on loss leader at Meijer for the week. I don't want my groceries to cost $40 more per week!!

Those coupon-wacked people are affecting the rest of us. The manufacturers can only absorb so many coupons and those people who buy $400 worth of groceries for $50 are killing them. The decline in usable coupons has been predicted since the TV show and internet sites started.

I noticed that a lot of the pages in the coupon inserts are now ads and not coupons???? I mean, there were always a few pages of ads for Grandma shoes or housecoats, but now there are just ads for shampoos, etc. with no coupons?????

Although, I am still finding enough to keep me happy for now. I had a decent run at CVS yesterday and it had been a few weeks since I felt like I had a good coupon day there.

I've always hated shelf clearers and can't understand why anyone needs more then a few backups of an item. I don't watch those shows because I think it's greedy and sort of weird for the most part. The change is affecting my budget dang it and I hate that too! I'm going to pout about it for awhile,

So it's not just me! I thought that the coupons lately were pretty lousy too. Hopefully this is not a permanent thing. We can only hope, right? :confused3

I have been going to ebay or the clipping services for the ones I want the past few weeks. I still go out and get 8 papers a weeks but have been ordering more specific coupons recently.

the coupons most definetely have not been that great at all. i have been doing most of my shopping at aldi lately. there are some sundays that i haven't even bought the paper. even the printable coupons aren't that great. i will keep shopping at aldis! hopefully things will get better.

I totally agree with you. The coupons lately stink!! ;) I actually went grocery shopping last Thursday and did not have one coupon to use. My dds were absolutely shocked and kept talking about me not using a coupon. That's all my 15 yr old dd could talk about.

i know the feeling. i missed the sunday paper a few times in the last month and have not even cared b/c i know its not that great. i bought all you for the first time at walmart last week. it was only 50 cents more than the sunday paper and had some great coupons, maybe i will just start buying that. the good news is palmolive dish soap had a coupon out this weekend for ANY size, i can now use that at CVS today, if they still have any of the smaller size thats on sale still in stock, will not be surprised if the shelf was wiped clean yesterday....

I have found that coupons come and go in waves (as far as good deals). We are definitely in a dry spell. I did have a good day at CVS yesterday (lots of stuff we needed, pain relief, soap, floss, etc) but it was the first time in a month I had been. Haven't been to Publix in a while either. If I cannot match up coupons/sales I just shop Aldi and the vegetable market. I have been to Aldi once a week for the last month, so that tells you how long it's been since the coupons were worth having!

The thing about shelf-clearers is that most stores have a limit on sale items per person but they don't seem to enforce it routinely. I like the stores that program their registers to ring up sale items at the regular price if you exceed the limit.

I thought it was just me, that the coupons weren't good for us. I now look through the sunday paper at the supermarket before I buy it, and if I can't make back at least the 99 cents, I don't buy it.

The other thing I noticed is that printables aren't available for too long. I had an e-mail for a softsoap coupon and when I clicked through, no more available.

That show has not only ruined the coupon supply but my store has stopped doubling them. RRRR bad TLC

I also noticed a lot more say "Do Not Double." There goes our double coupons as well!

There goes the free toothpaste- all the new coupons are saying DO NOT DOUBLE.

I agree the coupons have not been as good. I am finding better higher discount ones on facebook lately.

Around here that stopped a couple of years ago. One store chain stopped because Walmart wasn't doing it and they needed to compete. I really miss doubling!

One of our main grocery chains will now only take 4 coupons for the same item & I'm glad!!!

I don't understand the idea of clearing the shelves. Someone I know just purchased 11 jars of relish. Why? Seriously, how much relish can one family eat?

I've also noticed that magazines like Good Housekeeping, Woman's Day, etc. don't seem to have any or as many coupons as they used to. All You magazine is the exception.

I'm hoping that more and better coupons will come out this fall as we get closer to the holidays.

In the meantime, I'm trying to find more coupons by going to the websites of the products I like. Sometimes you can print coupons out from the website, or they may occasionally send you coupons if you sign up for their email newsletter.

Many coupons have always said DO NOT DOUBLE. That is not from the show.

Also, its still possible to get free toothpaste. For example, CVS has Crest toothpaste $2.99 and get back $2 ECB. Use a $1 coupon and you get it free.
