ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

Ok Poly friends.... we are actually staying at the BWI the night before our CL arrival so I will have to have our luggage transferred. Has anyone done this? Is it easy? Who do I tell to transfer the luggage? We are going to EPCOT most of the day so when we get back we will check into our room at the Poly... since we are staying CL do we need to go straight to Hawaii or do we need to go to the front and check in at the Bell desk?:confused3

We have transferred from POP, never BWI, but a friend has also transferred from AKL & the process was the same ... we brought our baggage to bell services & told them that we were transferring to Poly. They brought out a luggage cart and loaded all of our stuff on (including carry ons) and gave us a receipt with the number of bags. From what I understand you can also call bell services & have them come to your room to pick up your luggage to be transferred, but we didn't want to wait.

When we arrived at Poly and were checked into our room we called bell services & someone brought our stuff up right away. We weren't staying CL, but I would imagine it would be the same. Check in with the CL desk in the car port to be taken to Hawaii. Then when you're in your room call for your baggage. I think we had been warned that the bags may not arrive until after 4, but if you're going to be at Epcot for most of the day that's probably not a problem for you.

Have fun down there fellow No VA'er. Great day to leave as it is cooler down there than here!!! Can't wait to hear about your trip!:goodvibes
So true! I thought it might actually be less humid heading south - a first!

Looks like there are quite a few of us from this thread going to Poly/Disney next weekend:cool1: We check in the 29th also, staying until August 7th. Not staying Club level though as it was sold out when our travel agent booked our trip. I have just over a week to get the packing and all of those fun jobs you mentioned done :laundy: I just wanted to say have a safe drive. Awesome that you're staying at two of our favorite resorts in one trip, WL and Poly!! We loved Beach Club last year but are very excited to be going back Polynesian this year!
Thank you! I'll also be posting from the WL starting Sunday. I'm glad you like our split. It took many resort changes to finally get it just right. In fact, I started out with the BC Deluxe room and after several changes ended-up with the Poly CL.

I hope your trip is fantastic!

I am still waiting for the first posting of an actual Poly LSSSG member using a spork on a Lapu Lapu :confused3 I am waiting people!! :lmao:

Can you wait until the 29th?

I posted a question yesterday here about whether I should procure a chopstick from Kona Island Sushi to supplement my flimsy plastic spork.

Awesome! Thank you! Yea... we probably won't check into the Poly til after 4 anyway!

I plan a Lapu Lapu nightly..... too much?? Naw..... LOL!!!

DO they have anything like that in the CL lounge?? ;)

Just to chime in, we transferred and had bell services come get our bags. We called the night before to schedule it and they were right on time. We will be doing it again this trip for our transfer to GF.

Awesome! I am a Disney Travel Planner and was calling to price the Poly for us for the night before because it wasn't included in our pin code so we had to book a one night only... For the one night was outrageous! :scared1: BUT.. a special offer popped up for the BWI for a Garden Suite Club Level and it was such a good deal I couldn't pass it up! It works out for us because we are hitting EPCOT the next morning!

LOL... well you definitely won't want to return to All Star but hey, if you do... you are still at Disney right? :confused3 That is what I tell myself when I don't get to stay at the Poly too. :sad2:

When you say you threw in a Platinum night.... how did you do that? I assume you had to book different reservations? I mean I had thought about doing that but didn't want to do the whole week of platinum!

Here is a great thread about this so as not to hijack the Poly thread. :)

Basically, I booked one reservation for 9 days and a separate reservation in the middle for 1 night. We are paying for 2 rooms for 1 night, but BIL and his SO will be staying in the 1 room (which has all 5 names on it because the Poly can sleep 5) while we stay in our original room. We all get the amenities of the Platinum plan since we are all on the reservation...just a matter of which room we crash in at the end of the night. As I said, not the most economical way of doing it, but it is a treat for BIL.

WOW! That is pretty amazing! I am not sure I could do that because that makes for one expensive night but I think that is pretty sweet you guys get to do it! :thumbsup2

Sorry, I used a serrated grapefruit spoon.

Less likely to break than a plastic spork considering the fervor I was going at my pineapple with!!! Yummy rummy pineappley goodness!

Geez!! I don't DIS for a day, and you all zoom to page nine!! Guess I have some reading to do... ;)

Thank you all for the lei and lapu lapu info!!!

We have three different resorts booked for this trip so far, and I must say that I think I'm truly most excited about staying at the Poly LOL.

Subbing! :thumbsup2

Can't wait for my next WDW vacation :cloud9: only 73 days to go. It will be our third stay in the Hawaii longhouse and our fifth at the Polynesian. PLUS, it is my best friends Disney fairytale wedding on Oct 3rd! :lovestruc

We have booked a cabana for a half day. I know that both of the normal cabanas are located on that platform near the end of the volcano pool that is closest to Captain Cook's. Is there a major difference in view from them? I just want to know if I should request a specific one or just leave it to chance.

Thanks!

We will be around the same time as you.....Oct. 5 - 10th! Still trying to decide if we want to do the Cabana. I just don't want to be locked into a specific day and time...we may take our chances.

Plus does anyone know what the maximum occupancy is for the regular cabanas?

We're driving!! We've decided we're not ready to subject the flying population to our 18 month old on a plane and while hard to believe, we actually really love the drive. I'm looking forward to it! It also gives us a chance to stop and spend some time with relatives down state :)

.........................

Slightly off topic but since I'm here - does anyone have experience ordering from the Disney florist? I'd like to plan a little surprise in the room. I'm just wondering how far in advance I can set it up and what day it would be delivered (I assume 2nd). I sent them an email and apparently their email is down and I haven't had a chance to call.

:scared1: I could not drive down!!! Our youngest has been flying since her first trip when she was 8 months old. After flying with her older two siblings I swore I would never fly with a toddler again, but we started playing the airplane / school bus game with her. While driving it was a game ....an airplane is worth 3 points, a school bus 1 pt, and then we added things like a Mickey Bobber (antenna topper - had to be Disney themed) that is 15 points!!!! I don't know why but she was so excited to be part of the airplane game and was so calm and well behaved and she was right around 18 months.

As for Disney Florist, my parents and a friend both once ordered and the items arrived the same day at our hotel. I believe if you order ahead of time you can request for your day of delivery and put in some extra details. :wizard:

I have not seen you in a while? Where have you been? I have had some strangers come do our safety checks ;)

Meetings, meetings, meetings, and more meetings....okay I was on one 11 day vacation and have another one coming up in August....but I am sooooooooooooooooo sick of being in meetings!

All of these construction projects are driving me nuts and I need to duplicate myself. I am involved in 5 new committees for the transition into the new wing and CANNOT wait to get away to the Poly! We were originally going to stay at WL, but I couldn't do it. Then I am trying to get my extended family to choose the Poly for June 2012!!!!

Great suggestion! We're leaving in a few minutes and I just threw my grapefruit spoon into my luggage:thumbsup2. Wonder what I could use it for at the WL?

Is it sad that I literally had a dream about lapu lapus last night? We leave in 13 days and I think (ok, I KNOW) my brain is already there! :rotfl2:
