I've been working out about 5-6 days a week and afraid I'll get on the ship and just say the heck with it, lol..anyhow do fitness classes cost extra? If they do, I want to make sure I bring a little extra for them :)

Just off Dream last week and the answer to your question is no. There is no cost for the fitness classes that they give on the Dream. They do ask that you sign up for the classes, but it's not nessecary. Just to let you know, most of the classes are about 30-35 min long. i went to thier Spinning class and Im so used to my 50 min class at home, i was surprised that this class was only about 35 min!

Thank you! Do you remember what classes they offer?

I know Spinning for sure! When I went there, I did not inquire about other classes. But they do offer free seminars about losing weight, correct exercise for specific areas, etc.

Can I ask if you used SPD shoes or regular gym shoes for spin? My SPD's are really light and I'd prefer to use them... although 35 mins is really short, our gym is like yours and does 50 mins and I do three classes back to back.

I just want something fitness wise to do while on the ship. I used to do spinning, but prefer to do something like zumba. I will do the jogging track around the ship as well. Just want to add some cardio with it!

Oh, I would love it if they had Zumba on the ships. I am addicted to Zumba. I am certainly interested to know what other classes they offer.

Zumba would be fun on the ship!! The gym would probably be too small to have a good class there though. Maybe up on deck??!? They offer spin & yoga classes in the early morning. And you can use the treadmills, ellipticals & bikes anytime they are open. Even if you don't make it to a class, the gym has an awesome view and it is so cool to run on the elliptical or the treadmill or bike while feeling like you are gliding across the ocean.
Don't know if you know, but a big bonus is that when you use the gym, they provide free chilled water and fresh fruit as well as tea. You are also welcome to use the (much more spacious that your stateroom) showers, robes, towels, lounges and the dry sauna!
The gym was a great way for me to work off all of the yummy food! With the daily exercise, taking the stairs all the time and frequent small meals I actually ended up losing 5 pounds on our cruise!!! And I ate EVERYTHING that I wanted!!! Can't wait to go back on DCL - most luxurious weight-loss spa EVER!!! LOL!! :cheer2:

Awesome! Thank you! I have been running consistently and a friend talked me into doing the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred and I've cut back on my running since I have started this program (run once a week now). I do 5 days with jillian, then run, then a day off, then back to Jillian. I don't want to stop what I have going for me right now, lol.

Keep up the GREAT work!!
:flower1: No reason to go off track just because you go on a cruise! :flower1:
Have a wonderful time!

Do you happen to remember if they offered yoga or pilates classes on the Dream? Or can anyone else comment on seeing if these were offered or attending one?

I saw Yoga earlier in the mornings on Castaway Cay that you need to sign up for...not sure if there's a fee though

ETA: When I mean earlier, I mean like 9am-ish :)

Anyone know if the fitness classes on the Magic are free? Do you have to sign up on the day you board?

How fun would it be to have early morning zumba up on deck!?!?!?!

One of my unexpected highlights of our Magic cruise was using the fitness center in the early mornings. I was too amped up and excited to be on the ship to sleep much in the mornings so while my husband and kids enjoyed some snooze time, I went to the fitness center and ran on the treadmills while the sun came up. It was so cool to see the ocean go from black (still dark) to gray to blue as the sun rose. Afterward I'd enjoy a tea with some fruit from Goofey's Galley in a lounge chair and enjoy the quiet, me time. First time I've ever worked out on a cruise and it won't be the last. Another bonus-ate what I wanted and only gained one pound the whole trip.

Yes, you can use SPD shoes on thier spinning bikes. (They have the LeMond bikes) I have some, but left them at home for the trip. I just used regular gym shoes and put my feet in the straps/harness.
