Tell me all about it..........we do not currently have one but I am thinking we should. We live about 40 minutes from Disney, have annual passes, and just booked our third cruise......so I am thinking we would benefit from one! Please share the perks, benefits, etc. on having one!!! Thank you!!!:)

My dh and I just enjoyed our cruise on the Dream from our Disney Visa!:lovestruc

I had over $2000 Disney Dollars that paid for the cruise fare. The key is to charge every thing possible on it and pay it off every month. I only "messed" up once and paid $10 in finance charges..not late, just finance.

It did take awhile, about 5 years. I did spend a few dollars along the way but if you are patient, the rewards are sweet!

I'll be succinct: If you use a Visa card and are prone to visiting Disney Parks then this is the Visa to use! Whether you save up your points for that special meal or have enough to use for a fabulous Disney cruise, it's the card to have!

If you are good about paying your balance in full every month, rewards cards can be, well, rewarding. I would however carefully compare the rewards offered from various cards.

I have a Disney Rewards Visa, but a cash-back card from another bank pays higher rewards. I use the Disney Visa for the six-months no interest on Disney vacation purchases and $50 on board credit it provides.

I LOVE my Disney Visa.
I use it for business expenses. I typically earn about 1200 points a year. I paid for our entire 4 night Bahama cruise with points last Sept. We took our second cruise in June, I paid $575 towards the cruise in points and earned an additional $700 before we sailed. I couldn't apply the $700 towards the cost of the cruise but we used it for on board expenses (drinks, excursions, tips).
If you plan on visiting Disney annually it's a great option!

I love it too! DH and I have been card members "since day one" and have a little over 1900 points right now saved up for our 2012 Fantasy cruise. We've been saving since Sept. 2007. I also use it for everything I can and pay off the bill monthly. But, I've messed up more than once.... maybe three times throughout the years. :headache:

Do the rewards points/dollars ever expire?

I just got the card and I'm new to it all. I've also heard that the $50 OBC cannot be combined with an onboard booking perk which is def the better deal.

I just ordered one because I had a card thru the mail & the first time I used it & paid off a transaction they sent me a $200 Disney gift card - so maybe research a little online to see if u can get that deal? Also there's a special viewing area in the park where can show your Card & meet the characters! They also give you a FREE photo!

If not used, reward points expire 5 years from the statement date they are earned. Reward cards also have an expiration date which will be printed on the card. Reward cards are valid for at least a year.

I've had the Disney Visa since it was introduced. I use an American Express as my primary and the Disney Visa as my secondary (not everyone takes AmEx). Other than the rewards, there are other perks. There is 0% for 6 months on Disney vacations (cruises, etc) as some previously mentioned. Another perk is 20% off all tours, which is better than the AP discount. I've done several tours and saved hundreds of dollars with that perk alone.

We have had the Disney Visa for years and it pays for all of our meals and souvenirs. We use it for everyday expenses and pay it off every week. You do not get the points until you have paid for your charges though.

I agree with the PPs. We have been Disney Visa Members "since DAY 1" also (our card says it) :thumbsup2.

We pay it off each month though. If you are going to charge on it and accrue interest charges, then it is not worth it, you are not gaining anything.

But, we had $900 to spend in California in January 2011 from Visa Rewards alone (saved since our last trip in Dec.'09). We only had 6 months to save up for this Alaska cruise, but they did double rewards the last couple of months. So we are going aboard with over $200 in Visa Rewards in 2 weeks. Hey, $200 I wouldn't have had!

The free pictures are really nice, and the tour discounts. You also get discounts at Disney Store (at least we used to, haven't been in awhile!). You also get 10% off all dining at WDW and also 10% your total order at the World of Disney Store at WDW and DL. We have used the 0% interest on Disney Vacations on many occasions (esp. for cruises!) too.

Being so close to Disney, and going there a lot would make it beneficial for you. But there are definately rewards cards out there that give you 2-5% cash back (or more on some things) that would build up your $$ much quicker if you aren't going to spend the rewards on Disney stuff! :lovestruc

Hope that helps!

By tours, do you mean cruise excursions? Or Theme park tours?

Once you transfer the points to the reward card they expire at the end of the year. If you don't transfer them I think they expire in 7 years.

I think you can get both on-board credits.

You do get your points as soon as your billing cycle is complete, not when you pay it off. I recently purchased a new car and put a $5000 deposit on the Disney Visa. I had not sent in my payment yet(but my statement was issued), and was able to transfer over the $50 credit to my rewards card and use on my cruise on the Dream!
I then promptly paid that sucker off!

AWESOME!! I had a problem with mine when I got it with points not being on there, but maybe it was just a glitch. It all worked out in the end and I just make sure i have the amount I want when I get my card.
