Port Adventures - how early is too early?

We are going on our first cruise in Oct, and can start reserving Port Aventures in a couple of days. We have read that it is a good idea to reserve early. Does anyone know if that means we can/should log 12:01 AM EST? Or do reservations open at something like 8:00 AM the day specified in the welcome package?

If it isn't difficult for you to be up (like it's not the middle of the night to you) it isn't a bad idea to book at 12:01. Especially the more popular excursions.

In my experience, we haven't had too much difficulty booking a little later (maybe we don't go for the popular ones?)

If you do the midnight thing, be aware, ifyou are already logged into the DCL site prior to midnight, you will need to log out and back in after midnight. Just doing a "refresh" will not work as the DCL site thinks it's still the time/date it was when you first logged in.

Refresh worked for me on the two booking windows I had open up last week, so give that a try first. I wasn't IN my reservation, just on the CC page when I did it, then retreived my reservation.

Port excursion reservation starts at 12:01 am but online check-in starts around 3:00 am. Don't forget to choose your arrival time since DCL claims to start linking boarding numbers with the online chosen arrival time effective August 2, 2011 with port terminal opening time changed to 11:00 am. Please read the fineprints when checking in online.

Have fun planning!

Let me start by saying I am NOT a late night person. I start to panic if I'm not in bed by 10pm. I'm going on my 4th DCL cruise in Oct and I've stayed up until midnight on my first booking night to book my Palo reservation and an excursion. That being said everything I've wanted has still been available a week later. I just have never wanted to take that chance. It's kind of turned in to a fun tradition. The whole family stays up late the date our booking window opens. I've never sailed on a holiday sailing or in the height of summer. Your experience with availability may be different if it is a more popular cruise.
