Hi all

We are embarking on our 1st ever cruise on the Disney magic on July 30th (7 day Med)..... and I was hoping for some answers to a few questions from you more experienced travellers!

1. Do you need insect repellent for onboard the ship?
2. Are soft drinks (e.g. coke, sprite etc.) included or charged extra?
3. I read that there is one formal night when men should where a suit.... is this really necessary? (or can I get away with smart trousers and shirt).... I wear a suit every day for work and would really like a week off!!
4. My youngest daughter is 12 months old...... how did you guys find the nursery (staff, activities etc.)?

Thanks for your help!

No

Free at the drink station and in the dining rooms. You pay if you order them from room service or at a bar or from a waiter by the pool.

My DH just wore a dress shirt and tie for formal and semi-formal as well as Palos. Helped reduce luggage weight!
4. My youngest daughter is 12 months old...... how did you guys find the nursery (staff, activities etc.)?
Sorry, no young kids. I'm sure someone will be along to answer this for you!

Thanks for your help!

Have a great cruise! :goodvibes

Just echoing the above sentiments. My husband also just wore a dress shirt with a tie, and was just fine. The nursery costs a certain amount per hour and has a two-way mirror so you can check on your kids without them seeing you. They do limit the number of kids, so if you know you need it for a certain time, book early.

Thanks.

Some of the other members of our party regularly cruise but not on Disney - and can't believe the formal dress code is anything but formal! (ie black tie/tuxedo). I presume Disney is less formal than other lines given family orientation?

One more question...... On Med cruise do you tip cruise staff in dollars or euros?I was planning on only taking euros to spent during day etc. But suddenly had a thought about on ship!

Thanks again!

Yes, we love the fact that DCL is more relaxed. Last year on the Med cruise, DH rented a tux but this year, we decided to spend the money elsewhere. :thumbsup2 You will see some tuxedos, but mostly jackets or shirts and ties for the men, and even nice polo type shirts too.
You can charge your tips to your on board account which is linked to the credit card you use, so dollars if you are US. You can always put more dollars or euros in the envelopes if you wish than the standard tipping. When you pay with your card, they get a printout of the amount. I've heard its easier for them to manage their money that way. Many of the cruise staff send their money back home to their families. Then any extra euros or cash you give them is extra spending money for them while in ports.

For room service you need Dollar bills (1 or 2 per person per order). Everything else can be charged to your account x
