OMG! OMG! OMG! Guess what I just found out about the NYC cruises????

Holy crap, I am so excited I can't believe it......

A couple of months ago, I added my niece and nephew to our 8 day Magic cruise out of NYC next August. Well, my sister doesn't want to spend the money so this morning, I called to have them removed from the reservation.

(you didn't need to know that , but I am babbling)

Anyway, while I had her on the phone, I asked how I could look up the Port Canaveral excursions on the website. I know I can't book until 105 days out, but I wanted to see what they were offering, particularly WDW. I knew they would be offering a day at the parks, obviously, I wanted to see the pricing. She said they have not put the info on Port Canaveral on the website yet, but this is what she could tell me about WDW:

On the Port Canaveral day, we will be getting a one day Park Hopper Pass with transportation.....to quote Adam Sandler in Bedtime Stories...."For Freeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

For my family of five, a one day park hopper pass costs $639.

Between the online booking stateroom credit of $250 x 2 (two staterooms) and now this....I think this is well worth the cruise now. We won't have to drive to FLA, just NYC (4 hours as opposed to 24 hours).

So, if you are on the fence about booking out of NYC, just know that the price of your cruise includes a free day at WDW.

Wow, that is great news! I think that would be a major selling point for people questioning PC as a port stop (thinking it would be a huge expense to take an excursion to the park.) Thanks for sharing...

LOL! That was the main thing posted about on opening day for those cruises. The cruises out of Galveston do not go to PC. Glad this works out for you.

Although that "news" has been out for awhile, congrats to those sailing out of NYC and getting a "free" day at the parks. However, I'm sure DCL incorporated that into the cruise price somehow - lol. Likewise, there is unlikely to be any credit for those who already have an ANNUAL pass to WDW, right? Even before I moved to Florida, I had an annual pass and I know many out-of-staters who do, so leaving from NY does not preclude that situation.

But to everyone else, congrats and ENJOY!

Besides not having to fly (just an hour away from NYC) the day at WDW was a big selling point to us for this cruise. It's a good long day too..I think all aboard is 11:30PM and transfers are included. Can't wait!

Can you do that? I thought I had read that they will be specially coded to only be used that day and can't be used toward another ticket purchase.

You can do that with NORMAL WDW tickets! I hadn't read about the one-day-only use! If true - that stinks!

I am not sure I figured this out correctly, but the 8 day Magic is less than the 4 day Dream. Not sure how Disney would have factored the price in.

Here is what I did.

I took the price of an 11A stateroom with 2 adults.

8 night 11A Magic total is $3299.12. Divide by two and you get $1649.56/pp. Divide by 8 and you get $206.19pp/ per night.

I looked up a 4 night Dream cruise, because it is comparable to the 8 night cruise, given that 4 days of the 8 night will be at sea.

4 Night 11A Dream total cost is $2046.34 for 2 guests. $1023.17pp which equals $255.79pp/per night.

8 night Magic with a free day a WDW = $412.38/night

4 Night Dream with NO free WDW= $511.58/night

Not seeing how the cost of WDW is rolled in, since we are paying less to cruise with WDW than without.

BTW, the price I used are todays price. The price I got back in April with the online booking discount is considerably lower. I didn't want to use MY price as a comp.

It is stated that the 1 day park hopper is only valid on that day. Works for us, but it does stink for people that have AP's.

It only stinks for AP if the cost was rolled into the price of the cruise. From my calculations (and they could be wrong) it doesn't look like they did that.

Now for AP holders trying to get an extra day for free, yes, it does stink for them. But this truly does seem like a "free" day.

$1000+ pp for a 4-night Dream cruise in an inside cabin is very high, as prices have risen a lot since they were first available to be booked last October. $1650 pp for an 8-night cruise on the Magic in an inside is also pretty high - so you are definitely paying for that park hopper. (7-night Caribbean cruises on the Magic start at under $1000 pp.)

I am trying to compare it to cruises that sail around the same time. So I can't compare a Magic sailing in Aug 2012 to a Magic sailing today. The booking window is too close, the price is much higher the closer to your sail date.

I am comparing prices as if TODAY was the day I decided to book my cruise. Do I want to take a cruise that includes a day at WDW or a cruise that does not. Let me see if I am paying for that day at WDW:

Aug 4, 2012 7 night Fantasy:
2 adults: $3547.40= $506.76 per night (No WDW ticket)

Aug 17, 2012 8 night Magic:
2 adults: $3299.12= $412.38 (incl. WDW ticket)

I know the Magic is an older ship, so we are paying less money to sail on her. If we were paying for our day at WDW, then we would be paying the same, of not more than the Fantasy.

I am just not seeing how DCL has "rolled" the price of the WDW passes into the cruise. People sailing on the Fantasy in the same time frame (the Aug 18th sailing didn't have a quote for the 11A staterooms) are paying almost $100 more per night to sail and they don't get a day at Disney.
