Girls hair-do at Harmony Barber Shop?

I remember hearing that the MK barber shop will do a fun hair-do for girls. My daughter would love to do BBB, but I just can't justify the prices. (read: I'm cheap)

Has anyone had their daughter get some special treatment at the barber shop? If so, can you share details? What did she have done? How much did it cost?

Thanks!

Both my girls have gotten several haircuts at the barber shop in the past. Our youngest got her first haircut there!

I will try to remember to post pics this evening...

The girls get haircuts, sometimes a nice Mickey or Minnie scrunchie to hold up their hair, and coloring of their choice. All topped off with Pixie Dust.

They do a great job there, especially for the price. My kids bug us every year to go back for haircuts.

My 9-yr-old DD got her hair pixie-dusted at the Barber Shop during our late August trip this year. Here's a picture of her "do" from the back:

She didn't get her hair cut, but the stylist put a little pony tail on each side, pulling her hair back and out of her eyes, then put two colors of gel in her hair (DD chose red and orange) and then put a LOT of pixie-dust on her hair - basically bigger pieces of multi-colored glitter. As far as "special treatment", this is a standard hair gel/glitter package you get - and it only costs $7.50 (I'm proudly cheap at well!)

DD was very pleased. There was a LOT of glitter on her head, and I would probably ask them to do a LIGHT dusting rather than heavy. All day long, she was dropping glitter all over, and it took a bit of washing at the end of the night to get all that out of her hair.

while DS was getting a haircut and a "cool dude" at the barbershop in June, DD decided she wanted some paint and confetti. her barber was not that nice/great and very hastily pulled her hair into a messy ponytail. then, he painted THICK stripes into her hair, sprayed a lot of hair spray on her hair, and DUMPED confetti on her head before she could tell him that she only wanted a little. her eyes were HUGE. it was so not what she wanted, but she was a good sport about it. he said, "well. i guess i know what you're going to be doing this afternoon" as i tried to get some of the confetti off her ponytail. i don't know why he was in such a foul mood.

anyhoo, she still enjoyed it. it was a PITB to wash her hair though and i kept finding confetti in her hair throughout the week (she has thick hair). so, if we were to do it again, we'd be sure to stress that she wants small stripes and minimal confetti. anyhoo, here's a picture:

(don't mind DS. he'd had his face painted, but kept wiping it off. so, i took it off his face, but he insisted i leave the black on the one eye.) :lmao:

We had DD's done a couple of visits ago and it was awesome! But one logistical note-- I recommend having it done early in the day. For one thing, go there on park opening and there won't be a huge wait. And also, at some time during the day we swim at the resort pool, and this MUST come out before jumping in! :goodvibes In order to get good value from the hair do, I think it's best to do it early so when you leave to swim (or go to bed for that matter), you don't feel like it's a waste washing it out. Which, by the way, I got in the shower with DD since it was easier to get it out of her hair that way!

Here is a picture of my dd's do. She loved it, got lots of compliments, and it was cheap. We had a great person, he was lots of fun. Be aware, that's it's first come, first served, no reservations. We had to wait a little.

The hair cement was a little tricky to get out! Also the humidity made it not dry completely. But I would do it again in a heartbeat!

At the Barber Shop, my 4 yo daughter got pigtails (her favorite 'do) with colored hair gel stripes, pink and purple of course, topped off with pixie dust. She loved it! It was much more "Disney does punk rock" than princess-style, though, so I'm not sure if it would be a substitute for BBB.

We've never done BBB, but we did buy a tiara at DHS and I put her hair up like a princess. That may be another less expensive option.

I know I'm resurrecting this thread, but I'm so excited to do this with my daughter. She's almost 4 and BBB is just not on the radar. Secretly, I really don't like the results that I've seen from the BBB. She is SUPER DUPER excited to get her hair gelled and covered with pixie dust at the Barber Shop. Thanks for the pics!! It makes waiting even harder, though!!!!

My dd wants her hair cut in Disney, would I have to pay on top of the cut for the colours and sparkles?

Btw fairiesstoneofall I love your dd's dress!! Where did you get it, so pretty :)

We are leaving next week and we have reservations for my granddaughter to have her first haircut there. Not sure of the extra cost for the sparkles. We were told it is all part of the package. So when I get back I will let you know.

That would be great! Thank you! :flower3:

Have a fantastic time..., I wish I was going so soon ;)

Here is my dd's picture this past trip. You can now make reservations, but they were still accepting walkups as they had time. She loves it, and it's really cheap!

Please keep in mind that Harmony Barber Shop is just that - a barber shop. The people who work there are trained and licensed to cut hair. They are not cheap "fairy godmothers" in spite of what posters here recommend. If you want what BBB offers go there. If you want a hair cut go to Harmony Barber Shop. They give awesome cuts!

I don't know the exact current cost of a cut, but I'm pretty sure it's still under $20 and the confetti and gel are usually included. Tips are appreciated I'm sure. But they can't be put on your credit or keys to the world card - cash only.

When we got this done last year, we did not have to pay extra for the paint/glitter. It was included in the price of a haircut.

Both of my kids did this our last trip and loved it.

DD5 got her hair in a ponytail with her hair kinda wraped around like a bun, with pink and purple stripes on the sides and sparkles on top as shown. I put her princess crown on and think it was cuter than BBB.

DS7 got his hair spiked with the blue paint and sparkles on top. He also got the Mickey head on the back (like the one the girl in the picture had onthe side of here head), which I would not recommend, since it takes forever to dry. He actually got it on the seat riding Space, they were really nice and said it happens all the time. I also placed a plastic bag in his car seat on the way back to the hotel, good thing or I would have had that paint all over my car seat.

They wore their raincoats on Splash so they would not mess up their hair.

We went back the next day and got a refil on sparkles. I let them keep in for two days. I read on here to wash it out before you go home so it does not clog your home drain lol.

We will be doing this again on our next trip. It was $20 total for both, including tip. Enjoy, it was really fun!

We did this in June and the girls LOVED it!!! At around $10 including tip, this is truly a WDW bargain;)

Question: When you ask them to put the hair up in pony tails - do you have to provide the scrunchies, pony tail holders, etc.... OR do they have it there?

I am taking a crown from home - have a CRT ressie at 1:15 PM and HBS at 11:30 - i was thinking that my daughters ( 7 yrs old) can get their hair done in pony tail (will they do a bun???) and then soem pixie dust and I can just put a crown on top.

ANy tips, advice????

Thanks.
