OK I am considering changing my Bahamas Dreams ressie to a 7 day MR cruise...:confused3

Will I really miss Castaway Cay???:sad1: I am looking at the 2012 MR cruises b/c i want to do mazatlan versus cabo twice.

Any advice from previous MR cruisers especially if you have been to CC would be greatly appreciated.:worship:

I think Disney should look into doing a CC type location on the west coast.

I would point out that even if Mazatlan is currently being shown as being on the itinerary, it could (at any time) be pulled again.

:cutie:

I'm on the April 22nd MR cruise and feel just the opposite. Hoping the cancel Mazatlan and give us two days in Cabo. Not that I wouldn't feel safe, but I could easily plan two days in Cabo, and I can't see anything to do in Mazatlan and would most likely end up at a resort for a pool day.

Nah, you won't! We have had 3 Bahamas cruises, an Eastern, and a Western (that missed CC! So there's no guarantee!), and a MR. We loved the MR so much that we rebooked it for Christmas. We had cruised to the MR previously on another line, and Mazatlan was our favorite port on that cruise. So I was really concerned about how we'd feel with 2 Cabo stops. Turns out we had a blast in Cabo! We did the 4x4 mini jeeps which we loved, and on the short day just went to Medano Beach, rented jetskis, and played on the beach. Plus I feel very safe walking around in Cabo. My kids got to experience a new country and language, and the people there were great.

Castaway Cay is my favorite port ever- but our MR cruise on Disney is one of our very best cruises. Can't beat the service and relaxation of a 7 night cruise. We love the staff and the beauty of the Wonder, it's our favorite ship.

Looks like you and I are in the same boat...literally! We need to get our meetup thread more active...

We are doing the MR October 2 and Mazatlan has been removed from the itinerary. We have 2 days in Cabo.:woohoo:

Having been to both MR and several cruises with CC including, I'd have to say for our family we 100% missed CC! Not that MR isn't nice and it is pretty cool visiting another "country" but it just wasn't as good as the Caribbean for our family. That said you just can't go wrong on DCL wherever it goes! ;)

You are right..I didn't even think about the possiblity of missing CC which has happend in the past to multiple cruisers!!! So glad to hear you like the MR cruise and Mazatlan. I am actually looking forward to Mazatlan. :lovestruc

The thing that really stunk about missing CC was we took that cruise to celebrate DH's 40th birthday (our CC day was his actual birthday). Left the kids at home... we could FINALLY spend some time at Serenity Bay. :cloud9: But bad weather kept us away. We still had a great day, but if I was one of those people who booked a Disney cruise just to experience Castaway Cay, it would have been a real disappointment. We still had a wonderful cruise. If any one port will make or break your trip, cruising may not be for you. Sometimes things happen.

But just to be safe, we have booked a B2B on the Dream next year for our 20th anniversary cruise (also kidfree!). This time we'll get there!

Going to CC was definitely part of our decision to do our Dream trip last April. And then hearing of the possibility of missing CC due to weather, etc played into our decision to book a B2B. But I agree with the other poster that said it should not be the only consideration for the cruise or it could lead to real disappointment.

On our first stop there (on the B2B), it was really windy and it took them 3 tries before they could dock (according to a CM). And even though we docked, all the excusions were cancelled due to the weather. It wasn't the best day at CC, for sure..but we were still glad to be there. Luckily the next time we stopped, it was a perfect weather day and it was amazing.

That being said, our next cruise is on the Wonder to the MR. As much as we enjoyed CC, not visiting there was not enough to deter us from the MR. Mostly because I am looking forward to a cruise that leaves 20 minutes from my house this time. Not having to deal with airlines, luggage fees or weight limits won out over CC :thumbsup2

But..... My kids have already decided on the Fantasy for our cruise in 2013, so we may have another chance to see CC again :rolleyes1
