Hoping that winter comes soon.

Seriously. It's hotter than :scared1: here in Austin, and the heat index pretty much stays over 100 degrees as long as the sun's up. In central Texas, you can always tell it's winter because the flip flop quotient drops below 50%.

Other than that, Mrs. Tex and I like summer movies. You know, the ones totally lacking in socially redeeming values and such, but with lots of explosions.

Mine is staying up until 5AM watching my Frasier DVDs and then sitting outside with my laptop, iPod, and a hot cup of coffee (Nantucket Blend, Kathy! ;)) watching the sunrise and listening to the roosters cooing from the farm down the road.

What's yours?
I take it you don't work in the Summer? :confused3

Sayhello

Grab my Kindle and a beach chair, put a few beers in the cooler, then head over to Lake Michigan and sit on the beach by the pier at South Haven, MI

Another Kindle grabber with my glass of Savignon Blanc sitting next to the lake. I would prefer the ocean but it's not close enough :)

Wake up early and relax on my balcony with a hot cup on coffee. Would be nicer if the view from that balcony had a beach and/or palm tree in it instead of the back of a building but, still nice.

Get up with the birds in the morning and walk. Then relax with my coffee and mess around on the computer a while. Scrapbook photos from my last WDW trip and plan my August trip to the world. Watch a baseball game at night instead of marking papers, stay up late reading. It's all good!

My favorite summer activity has to be lying on the driveway at night and watching bats fly overhead chasing the bugs, while listening to the frogs, crickets, cicadas and the occasional night bird serenade us. While watching for bats, we get to scope out the constellations and watch the moon rise. Ahh...I love it....just came in a little while ago. :lovestruc There was a thunderstorm in the distance and I could see the lightening far away. It was beautiful.

I can't deal with the heat of the summer day, so night is my time. :smickey:

Visiting theme parks. :)

I like to go to the beach, have picnics and LOVE the pool. I like to ride rollercoasters and go to baseball games.

I like to open the windows, have fresh air in the house and listen to kids outside.

But mostly, I like to NOT have snow and ice and freezing temps.

The best part of summer is that it's not winter. :)

I love spending time at the pool with the summer school camp kids, watching them enjoy the pool and working on my tan...

sitting in my beach chair at Hampton beach with a breeze coming off the water...

enjoying a ripping thunder storm after days of hot, humid weather...

Sleeping in..

trying to keep control of an ice cream cone so it doesn't melt all down my hand...

being barefoot..

Doing anything outdoors. Kayaking, hiking, running, playing sports, taking my nephew or friend's kids to the park.

Most of my best childhood memories were just playing outside in the summer and that hasn't changed much since.

Camping and hiking! For me they are the best things about summer, probably because I have Lake Tahoe nearby which is such a great spot to do both :)

I also love making my own popsicles and enjoying them during the hot evenings.

Another Kindle reader, a good trashy summer novel = mind candy, NOT running in the side ways rain, the 75 -80 degree warmth of PNW sunshine, walking along the beach searching for beach glass, Mount Rainier National Park, the smell of an evening BBQ, summer time s'mores, and camp fires.
