Well I guess it's time for the DCI thread so get going!

Lets start this out with an old classic, Cadets "In the Sprintime When the kings go off to get married!" :lmao:

Someone we all know marched this show.......any guesses?

http://www.myspace.com/video/carson/cadets-1993/8509915

So show us videos of you marching, or some gossip, or your travel plans....:thumbsup2

I googled DCI and still can't figure out what it is!

From google it's possibly:
Drum Corps International
Dialysis Clinic, Inc.
Digital Cinema Initiatives

So i'm at a loss....

HAPPY DRUM CORPS SEASON!!!!!!!!
Dont forget about DCI at the Movies monday night, showing the Texas shows from this weekned.

And as much as I totally love "In The Springtime" by the Cadets, I really really really love 'To Tame the Perilous Skies". Both shows were cutting edge and stunning though.

So who went to the movies?

The sound here could have been louder, and no sound at all after intermission, till about the start of Cadets. High School kids and their constant texting drove me nuts!

BD - Good show, I like the music, but it sure aint the 2010 show!

Cavies - I really liked them, they will win or come in second.

Phantom - After hearing the music about two weeks ago, I was disappointed in the visual, but it's only June. We also need more Elsa's procession!

Crown - Absolutly loved it! I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say they take the whole thing in Indy! :thumbsup2

Cadets - I think the duel uniforms is gonna hurt them in the visual department, and I dont really care for the show. Whats with the new cumberbunds? They make every kid look 50 pounds overweight! And put the chin strap down UNDER your chin and you can wear your Shako's with no problem! ;)

SCV - Kind of got ripped off tonight, I think they will do well with this show.

Bluecoats - I dont remember a damn thing about this show, probably most disappointed in them so far this year.

Bluestars - I like the show, cant imagine how much rehersal that guard is missing out of for hair and make-up, but it was good.

I thought the scores for Friday night were right on! Saturday I can see, but I thought the first set of scores was more accurate.

I DO NOT like how DCI has been split into the "Top 8" and "everyone else".

I also would add I was surprised how each corps was pretty much ready for the first show, a few missing drill endings, but overall they did a great job!

Aw Mike, wish I knew you were going, I would have joined you. :rolleyes1 But then again I completely forgot about it after having been stuck in a meeting all day.:scared1:
I so hope you are correct with the Crown prediction, they truely have captivated me for years now and really deserve it :woohoo:
Thinking we may have to take a road trip the end of July :cheer2::cheer2:

just me

So happy it's DCI season again!

First, it was nice finally meeting you, Mike, in Indy last summer!

Next, we were at the movie on Monday night also. BD did nothing for me. Hated the props, can't stand the hair flippin by the guard. Loved the Cavies, The Cadets, and Crown's shows. My expectations were high for PR, but alas, they let me down. I want more of the ending and more passion. Didn't feel Juliet at all! SCV was men for me, too. Husband enjoyed the Blue Stars. I can't remember the Bluecoats show, and that surprised me.

This summer, our plans are: Bowling Green, Ohio (a little oven an hour's drive), then on to Minneapolis, Murfreesboro and then Finals week.

Looking forward to seeing Madison on the field this year!! Last year they finally won me over!

Scouts have already beaten Blue Stars, Glassmen, and Boston! :cool1:

Got the vacation, room, and tickets for Indy, just need to book a flight today!

MADISON is for real this year! Top 6 at least. Their closser is amazing. The ballad is stunning. Total package. (when havent the Men of Madison had a great package :lmao: )

I got goosebumps off of YouTube. So trying to get back to Minnesota for the show. And jealous you get to see Madison out in Orlando.

Going to 3 shows this weekend. Should be fun. SCV, Blue Devils and Phantom there. Cant decide who to go watch.

This guy takes the scores and crunches the numbers every day to make current placements....

Hey, Mike,

Did you hear that DCI is back in Whitewater, WI for the first time in many, many years this summer?

I checked for you but the bar with beer in buckets has gone OOB...sorry:rotfl:

But I hear beer is bad for your nose anyway.

I was at the Walnut show last night. A few thoughts.

Academy...great new uni's. Amazing first 1/3 of the show, good enought to fight the big dogs, just didnt pull it off for 100% of the show. Not the kids fault, the show just goes flat.

Santa Clara...damn those kids can drum. Great sound. HUGE overacting by the "characters" almost made it too comical. No way they should have beaten PR.

Phantom...WOW. WOW. WOW... I am still truely at a loss for words as to how rich and full and beautiful their sound is. Those words arent strong enough. just WOW!

Blue Devils. Weird. loved the music. great guard. weird props. Now lets talk about the microphones. I am fine with electronics, but if you have to use a mic for your trumpet soloist, find a new one that can play louder. not at all impressed that they did it throughout the show. Do what you have to, doesnt mean I have to respect it.

Have a great 4th!

Heading for an early dinner in Toledo, Ohio at Tony Paco's tomorrow then on to Bowling Green for the DCI show. Looking forward to seeing the Cavies and Crown in person!

Did ya ever get to Packo's before it turned into a tourist trap?

If ya want a really good meal head east on Woodville Road and right across the street from the refinery is a place called Earl's or Cousino's. Awsome steaks at a very reasonable price, and right on the way to Bowling Green! :thumbsup2

Let me know how that show goes, that stadium is a wind tunnel!

Thanks for the tip, Mike. I wish the Glassmen would have their show back at the U of T. I am not that fond of BGSU. I will fill you in on the show. The weather is perfect for a show tonight!
