I'd Walk a Mile for a Cupcake- an SSR Quickie! 4/4-4/7/11 FINISHED!! 6/29

Hi, neighbor! I live very close to Scotch Plains! :) I have to tell you that I LOVE your trip report! I cannot wait to read the girl's trip report, and then go search out the REST of your TRs!

I have a pressing question that I MUST have an answer to! HOW did you transport the cupcakes in a bag without getting them all mushed up together?!? I cannot BELIEVE Starring Rolls did not have to-go containers, let alone bags!!! I'm outraged!

Thanks again for the laughs and entertainment!!! :)

OMG those cupcakes why did I never stop there.... and they probably dont have bags cuz people dont make it a foot past the store without devouring them.. cuz i would look like that
ClaraAnnaDerekMommy355979531406_C_Detail.jpg

Thank you for the laugh. I would have sat by you on the boat because being a Dismom, I would know that you had some wonderful plans.
Your food pictures are not good for my weight release :lmao:

Sounds like us, we run around with our heads cut off trying to get everthing on the last day. But it is all worth it.

All of those cupcakes have me DROOLING! I failed to get one this past trip and I'm kicking myself for not doing so.

Looks like I'll just have to make up for it on our December 2012 trip! One of each please! :thumbsup2

So I watched the boat pull slowly away....

and I knew I had to hoof it. I had to get back to EPCOT, and I just couldn't stand the thought of waiting and waiting at that dock for the next boat. So off I went-

IMG_1409.jpg

See those people up there? They ate my dust about 1 1/2 minutes after this pic was taken. Then I saw-

IMG_1410.jpg

And-

IMG_1411.jpg

I flew by a family with a stroller- and then-

IMG_1412.jpg

IMG_1413.jpg

I was pretty happy walking by the BWV, knowing that I would be back here in a month. Pretty freakin' HOT, but happy, nonetheless...

IMG_1414.jpg

Water water everywhere, and not a drop to drink...man, was I thirsty! Did I mention it was hot and humid that day? OMG, I was sooooo thirsty!

IMG_1415.jpg

IMG_1416.jpg

The Yacht Club was set up for a corporate event-

IMG_1417.jpg

Did you notice the boats in the pic over at the BW? One was heading to DHS...one was going to Epcot....

IMG_1418.jpg

IMG_1419.jpg

I am a fast, fast walker....especially in WDW. I don't mess around. But that day I was fast even for ME, I was pretty proud of myself! I even stopped to high five a passing family on a surrey bike- and STILL....

I beat that friendship boat to Epcot- well, actually, i think I tied it, because the people were just getting off as I power-walked by them and swiped myself back through the International Gateway.

Seriously. I beat the boat.

And for the record....I had NO guilt WHATSOEVER when I chowed down on my great big yummy PB Cupcake at home- NONE. Too bad I am not that motivated every day- I'd be a size 0 in no time!!!:rotfl:

IMG_1420.jpg

I still had to get to the front of the park- so I continued at my breakneck pace-

IMG_1421.jpg

IMG_1422.jpg

IMG_1423.jpg

I called the boys on their cell phone- they had just gotten off SOAT and were on their way outside to meet me-

IMG_1425.jpg

Here they are!

IMG_1426.jpg

IMG_1427.jpg

We wasted no time, and headed straight for a last ride on Test Track-

IMG_1428.jpg

Here I am, sweaty, smelly, cupcake lovin mom of the year-

IMG_1429.jpg

We had a SWEET ride...

IMG_1430.jpg

IMG_1431.jpg

So sweet, we actually slept through some of it-

IMG_1433.jpg

Up next- the end of our quickie trip......

Ellen! I forgot you were still running off with your cupcakes!:goodvibes Look at you! Mother of the Year - running through WDW at breakneck speeds, high fiving other guests, jumping over fences, leaping over attractions - landing just in front of the boys as they exited SOAT!:thumbsup2 Sorry to see you on your last ride, but so happy you arrived with the cupcakes intact!

Hi Ellen!

Finally all caught up again! I just love your style of enjoying the parks, especially seeing proof of your bravery on Splash! :rotfl2:
Really good photo of you!

You are a wonderful mom for heading over to DHS for the cupcakes. And I just know about the container/bag dilemma at SRC! We now travel with a plastic container to get things back to the resort! :lmao:

No more luck with transportation? Can't wait for the next installment ....... popcorn::

Well, I finally came back to finish up! The mystery is solved! Hope all that suspense didn't hurt too much! :rotfl:

And I will be better prepared in the future- although I may just try the BW Bakery cupcakes next visit and see how they measure up- their PB cupcake sounds pretty awesome, too- and it's a HECK of a lot closer!! :rotfl2:

starring rolls was to die for...if I had not been munching on that carmel corn I may have gotten one myself. I think we redeemed the transport mojo....

Yea- we had some great mojo on our trip!!:thumbsup2

Hi Ellen!

Just catching up on your reports and just wanted to say that this report has made me feel so good for my future. I sure hope my boys, who are now 7 and 5 are as close as your two seem to be and will not mind coming with me to Disney when they are older. I too was talked into Splash Mtn during out last trip - the things you'll do for your kids! But I don't think I'd go to another park in the HEAT to get them cupcakes - even if they were from Starring Rolls!

Going to look for the Dismoms update next! As always, I'm enjoying your trip reports. What will I do now with a break between your trips?? Better stretch out that Dismoms report!! :thumbsup2

Well hello stranger!! :goodvibes I'm glad it makes you happy to see that a mom can go with her older but not yet grown sons to WDW and still have fun. We really did have a fantastic trip- and if your boys are as close as mine are, you will have fun together, too!! And way to suck it up for your kids on Splash, Mom! :rotfl:

ANd not to worry- we are still on Day 1 of DISmoms....but it should start going better now, what with school FINALLY out- although we have a TON of baseball games instead! And I will write about our 9 day cruise in August- even if it's not Disney...sniff snifff....but we will still have fun!

Pods and I just booked a new trip for next January- we're going to the Riviera Maya in Mexico, to an all-inclusive- Iberostar Grand Paraiso. Pods is SOOO looking forward to that trip- it has his 2 favorite vacation activities- golf and a swim up bar! :rotfl:

Oh, those cupcakes look like so much deliciousness Are they as good as they look? Strange that the store across the street has bags to makeup for SRC not having them :confused3 Oh no! Now you are going to have to swim back holding the cupcakes up over your head! :scared1:

Yes, they really are as good as they look. Totally worth every calorie! SRC had little bags, but no big ones to carry them all.

And bite your tongue on that swimming back thing!! Haven't you heard? We're supposed to stay outta the damn lakes! :rotfl:

Exactly why I didn't want to change the reservation. It seemed somehow "wrong" to use VWL points to stay at OKW. But - despite that - I did end up moving the dates of the reservations slightly and taking all 5 nights at OKW. It was really a good bargain, point wise. Plus, I have never stayed there before, so it will be fun to check out the refurbed rooms. This is sort of a weird trip anyway. It's one of those trips that was never set in stone as far as dates, so it helps to be flexible. After I stay at OKW then the only DVC resort I still need to try is BWV. (well, except for the one in Disneyland and Aulani). I'll be checking out HH in October. Slowly, I am made the DVC rounds.

I am glad that you are happy with your decision- and OKW has such a great vibe- plus you are sooo right about the points! :worship: I am very, VERY envious of your HHI stay- we aren't going this year for the first time since we got our DVC, and it is REALLy hitting me lately. It's such a great place. I hope you love it as much as I do. Someone's writing a great TR about HHI on the Mousecellaneous thread right now- it was their first trip, and they loved it. How long are you going for? So jealous!!:goodvibes

:rotfl2: Now the TR title makes sense! Those must be some good cupcakes! No...I have never tried one. Will have to remember that in Oct!

I am cracking up reading your description of the boat ride and cupcake photography. You must have been a sight only a DISer could love. :goodvibes. I amuse myself all the time on my trips ( and sometimes at home :rolleyes1) so i sympathize. :upsidedow

The cupcakes were worth every step, I promise. If it weren't for the DIS, I would never have known about them!

I'm very glad to hear I'm noth the only one cracking herself up around here!! :thumbsup2 I find it cathartic, laughing at how stupid I am- KWIM? :rotfl:

I am right with ya! Peanut butter is my kryptonite! That and the butterfinger cupcake looks to die for!

We once had a layover in Memphis and the Neeley's bbq was right there by the entrance to my plane so I grabbed a pulled pork sandwich to take home and stunk up the cabin:rotfl:

You are a girl after my own heart. :thumbsup2 We weren't that impressed with the butterfinger one- it didn't have filling, it was straight cake. But then, when I brought back my next cupcake run after the DISmom trip, Tyler's beloved Marble Cupcake wasn't filled, either.

I really hope it's not a trend.:sad2:

OMG, funny post Ellen. I could see you sitting in the back of one of the boats doing all that multitasking with the phones and cameras. You are a truly devoted DISer to her fans! :thumbsup2 And I thank you. :worship:

Glad to make you smile- :)

 I can totally see myself suffering from "heat stroke" too :rotfl2:
Although I would NOT be walking from HS to Epcot...although something tells me that you didn't have too many options.
I love cupcakes but the one that does it for me in SR is the banana split :upsidedow MEK remember that this is the same one you had for dessert at BD :thumbsup2 I usually have mine for breakfast though....you know banana :confused3

Tracy

Yea- those other desserts in that case look very yummy, but I'm like the PP who just said Peanut butter & chocolate is her kryptonite! Can't ever pass it up! But breakfast sounds like a good time for bananas...awww...who amI kidding. I'd get the PB Cupcake then, too! :rotfl:

Oh this is extremely exciting! Very suspenseful! :)

Hey!! School's out!! When's lunch??

Yeah, that sounds like something I would do too! :)

Good girl!! :thumbsup2

Hi there, neighbor! Thanks for the compliment! :goodvibes If you go looking for the TRs, you'll be busy for a while- I can't seem to stop writing them!! Keeps me on vacation even when I'm stuck at home.

They did get smushed- but not horribly so, because they were in waxed paper and little bags to keep seperate. Still tasted great in smush-form, tho! :thumbsup2

Hope we see you over on the DISmoms thread- that's a fun, FUN trip!!

OMG those cupcakes why did I never stop there.... and they probably dont have bags cuz people dont make it a foot past the store without devouring them.. cuz i would look like that
ClaraAnnaDerekMommy355979531406_C_Detail.jpg

:rotfl::rotfl: Yes, yes you would DEFINITELY look just like that!! :rotfl:

Thank you for the laugh. I would have sat by you on the boat because being a Dismom, I would know that you had some wonderful plans.
Your food pictures are not good for my weight release :lmao:

Sorry- I know food porn just does not help any diet- and awww...you are the sweetest friend... thanks for sitting with the crazzeee lady in the back of the boat! :rotfl2:

Sounds like us, we run around with our heads cut off trying to get everthing on the last day. But it is all worth it.

I am not usually THIS hyper on the last day- but I had limited amounts of time on this visit- so I made the MOST of every second! It WAS worth it!

All of those cupcakes have me DROOLING! I failed to get one this past trip and I'm kicking myself for not doing so.

Looks like I'll just have to make up for it on our December 2012 trip! One of each please! :thumbsup2

Good girl!! And it's always good to have something new to look forward to!

Bump to the front---:thumbsup2

THANK-YOU!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

Well, I didn't forget I was running with the cupcakes- I just ran out of time in the month of June- too many speeches to make, i felt like a celebrity!! :rotfl2:

ANd who said it was the last ride??? :rolleyes1

Those must be some darn good cupcakes! I admit I would be scraping that icing off as I don't like icing!

Couldn't help but notice your bracelet. I have a Disney one also, having fun filling it up!

You certainly get around. I don't know if I would go to Mexico it seems a little dicey right now. It's a darn shame.

IMG_1411.jpg

This is the view you get, when you (rent) points from DVC members. On the other side of the tennis courts, is the parking lot for Valet. That really was our scenery. But nothing beats hearing the fire works for Illumintions and Fantasmic.

I can't believe you beat that boat back. What day was this. My sisters made me walk from the Yacht Club to Disney Studios. You should of heard me *****in.:lmao:

I've heard good things about the PB cupcakes! I wonder if they are baked in the same kitchen?

Well hello stranger!! :goodvibes I'm glad it makes you happy to see that a mom can go with her older but not yet grown sons to WDW and still have fun. Oh, you mean just because it's water, doesn't mean you can swim in it?:confused3 I was going to bring my bar of soap next time and take a bath too!:rotfl2:

I'm very glad to hear I'm noth the only one cracking herself up around here!! :thumbsup2 I find it cathartic, laughing at how stupid I am- KWIM? :rotfl:

See, I keep telling everyone what I've learned on the DIS - such useful information and so under appreciated!

Sure, they get you addicted to the filling, then take it away!

ANd who said it was the last ride??? :rolleyes1

Of course you are a celebrity - you're a DISMom!

Holy Cow I can't believe you walked that far and beat the boat.

Love it!

I will have to check out the HHI TR on Mouse ect......, but I plan to write mine right here. We are going for 5 nights. I paid one night with points, but then the member cash rate dropped to......ARE YOU READY?......$150/night for a two bedroom. What a steal!!!!! So the last four nights are cash. Silly to use points for that when its so cheap. It's the soccer mom trip. The ladies wanted to go to HH instead of Disney world. Still not sure that I agree with it, but I am really looking forward to it. Not sure if we will leave a day early and stay somewhere over night. Now there's talk about driving overnight, which I am not a big fan of. But the one stipulation when we picked this is that I am NOT the designated driver. YEAH!

Loved you last update and can't believe you walked on the way back. You go girl! That was one seriously long walk. :worship:

Love the test track pictures, especially the one with you sleeping! Too funny!

Can you look at Member cash rates online, or do you just call?

We had a really fun ride on TT, and it was time to go...almost.

IMG_1434.jpg

Tyler had mentioned when walking by Spaceship Earth that we hadn't been on that one in a long time...so off we went...

IMG_1435.jpg

IMG_1436.jpg

IMG_1437.jpg

And then it really WAS time to head back to SSR...buh-bye Epcot...see you next month!

IMG_1439.jpg

IMG_1440.jpg

We actually headed back a little early for our DME....because I had promised Timmy a ride on a Surrey bike while we were at SSR and, well...it was now or never. While we went for our ride, Tyler used up the rest of his arcade card. SSR really is a pretty resort, and it was fun to tool around a little bit and see some of the areas we had missed. Even if I was peddling as fast as I could, because we kind of didn't have a lot of time- the nice CM who rented us the bike, no matter how many times I stressed we had to get on the DME in an hour, just didn't seem to get the concept of time. She spent about 20 minutes explaining the Surrey to us. When we finally went out, we went past the new pool that was being built at the Paddocks. But since I couldn't slow down too much, these are the only pics I took-

IMG_1442.jpg

IMG_1443.jpg

:rotfl: Pathetic, huh? These I took while I was peddling-

IMG_1444.jpg

IMG_1445.jpg

The CM who rented us the bike was very surprised we were back so quickly- and I explained AGAIN we had a DME to catch. Still, she looked baffled by the whole concept. Don't most people just LIVE at Disney? Why go?? :confused3 She was nice enough to take our pic before we got off, though-

IMG_1448.jpg

We hustled Tyler out of the arcade, I filled my mug with Light Lemonade which I CHUGGED!! Grabbed our bags...and the DME pulled in. PERFECT!!!!

IMG_1449.jpg

I hate that STUPID movie!!

Before ya knew it, we were on our last thrill ride of the trip-

IMG_1450.jpg

We are fortunate to be able to go to WDW every year with our kids because of our DVC. But THIS trip was SPECIAL in so many ways, because it was just the three of us, and because we truly had so much fun together on a trip that was last minute and really wasn't planned. :grouphug: So if you're ever on the fence about whether or not to hit WDW for just 3 nights at the last minute? Do IT!!! We'll treasure our memories forever!! :lovestruc

Thanks for reading- hope you'll join me over on the DISmoms TR!:goodvibes
