Shuttergirl taking on the US hehe - NOW WITH some PHOTOS See Post 1 for links

Oh Yipee Ms Shuttergirl!! Must hurry and get the dishes done and my 5 year-old's bedtime routine done so that I can sit down and relax looking at your photos :cool1:

I love your photos. They bring back so many memories of our trip last year. I agree that the view at WL is amazing. Love the fireworks shots too. Mine were a disaster.

Bummer about your fireworks shots. I just kept shooting non stop and hoped for the best :lmao:.

I'm glad my photos brought back happy memories for you.

Oh Awesome photos Ms.Shuttergirl!

Somebody was clever to wear a poncho on Kali river rapids :rotfl2: I was not so clever!!!

The necklace your DD had the pearl set in was absolutely divine! How clever to get that before you went. I had a look at the settings and there wasn't any thing as cute as that available!

I cracked up at how wet your family was after the water ride at Universal :rotfl:

Oh that photo of how the mousekeeper had set up the chipmunks was SO cute! Just gorgeous.

Fabulous photos! Fabulous trip report! Sorry it's over :sad1:

Well the poncho seemed like a good idea but I still got pretty wet :rotfl2:.

The necklace setting was lovely wasn't it. I got one for myself too and it was sooooo inexpensive.

That water ride at Universal is crazy. Everyone came off soaked unlike Kali where only a select few of unlucky people do.

Loving the photos Ms.Shuttergirl. Can you tell me how you do it, I can download to facebook but for the life of me can't do it here? I am a little computer dumb as you can see. Your family is beautiful, it is nice to but a face to your name. Its funny I imagined you to have red hair just because your profile pic is of ariel......

Aussietravllers has given great instructions.

I have had dyed red hair before if that helps haha.

Wow!! Love the pics, but I'm not surprised. I was expecting them to be nothing less then spectacular and I'm not disappointed :).

I'm so glad that your DD got to meet Mary Poppins!

Loved the Yankees pics, nice to see a different perspective seeming as the game we went to was during the day. Don't know if you've seen my pics, but I've got a pic of my family in the exact same spot outside Yankee Stadium!

WL looks amazing! And I love your view!!

Ooooh I must go back and look at your Yankees photos. It really was a great experience and my DH is so obsessed he is trying to convince my DS to give up cricket and play baseball hahaha. And there is a National Baseball League starting and Canberra has a team so DH is beside himself. Oh dear :lmao:.

Mary Poppins and Bert were wonderful.

Thanks for the comments about the photos.

Hope they live up to the hype :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I loved your photos! My boys sat on my lap and looked through them with me and I taught my youngest a few new words to master in the next five years :D

Thanks for sharing them with us :D

Oh the photos are just lovely. It really does add to the TR! The children loved looking through them as well. I loved the shots in NY, as well as the chipmunks! Thank you for putting them up and sharing them. May I ask who you bought the Cinderella carriage necklaces from on ebay? They are just divine. It might be nice to surprise my DD with it for Christmas.

Here is a link to the US vendor Shushh:-

The picture on ebay looks a little gold but I can assure you they look very silver and for $3.50 they obviously aren't going to last for long but by the time it wears out we will have it set in a more grown up setting.

What lenses did you take on your holiday?? I do not own a zoom and plan on buying one shortly, but as I have never used one, I don't know what length to get. Top of my list is the 24-105, but it is f4 and the ISO on my 450d only goes to 1600 (I do plan on getting the 7D at some stage before our trip).

Wouldn't mind knowing the answer to this too!

Loved your trip report, can't wait to see more photos - and what a great sense of humour Mousekeeping have, rearranging the chipmunks! :thumbsup2

I've only just had a chance to view your photos, and wow, you have got me SO excited about my trip! You and your family look so happy and excited! How are you going now, settling back into real life?

Howdy!
I'm only up to post #66 and been skim reading. Sounds like you had a blast.
Love the fear of cabs. If you ever go to Chicago?? Do NOT get a cab. You think NY is bad??? hehehe....you ain't seen nothin' yet :rotfl:
I happily survived them as we were walking at least 4 hours of walking tours everyday. So they were muchly appreciated. But if you can't handle NYC?? hehehe...
I even learnt how to drive like them while driving around the city myself. ;)

Anyway...so glad you had fun despite being sleep deprived. I actually settled into rhythm quite quickly this trip....despite our bags being stuck in the cargo hold of the plane for 5 hours (due to the door being jammed) after finally landing in Chicago......oi vey!

Will get around to reading more eventually. Love your trip reports and great photos!!
But currently a walking zombie. Well...mostly walking. Slight stumbling on occasion.

Queenie welcome back!!! We've missed you around here. Discussions never quite the same without your input :rotfl:

Loved reading about your adventure and looking at your pics :) Thanks for sharing

starting to read! Thanks;) I didn't even notice TR in people's signatures - now I',m going to have to gto hunting for them!:goodvibes

I am also reading PrincessInOz short trip TR but it won't let me comment on it, it's really enjoyable though (I'm just looking at her first MNSSHP fireworks photos)

I have just spent all morning re-reading your TR Shuttergirl - LOVE IT!

I did read it at the time, but it was nice to read again now that I am more learned on all things Disney. I think it was your TR that convinced me to add a couple of days in NYC to our trip - and I cant wait for that - I probably wouldnt have thought of doing it without reading peoples TR's on the DIS.

One question that you didnt answer - when you had to make alternate arrangements from NY - did you have to pay for new flights, were they at a premium price and were you refunded from Delta for your original. If so did travel insurance cover it?

Also did you go to the MNSHHP - we will be there in September and dont plan on going, it seems I am mad for doing this I wonder if anyone else doesnt bother with it. While my kids would be happy to get their fill of "free" candy, I think they are a little old for it and that $250 could be better spent elsewhere, (I am thinking of going to I-Fly if I can fit it in)

Thanks

:thumbsup2 Love :love:reading your TR was great :cheer2: but now housework beckons:rotfl: such a let down from the buzz of your holiday Thanks for sharing all those awesome photos:cheer2:

Hope you enjoy it, although PIO definitely writes a better tale then I so good that you started with hers :lmao:.

Thanks

Glad you enjoyed it. I have to say writing it live was lots of fun and I really fed off everyone's enthusiasm during our trip. I wish more people would write "live" but i know it can be challenging to find the time.

With our NYC dramas, we got on another Delta flight 7 or 8 hours later I believe it was. There was no extra charge or anything, just many hours lost. Once we walked in the door at Wilderness Lodge though and saw our view of the castle, all flight drama was well and truly forgotten.

With regard to MNSSHP, we actually went to the one at DL in Sept 2009. I too thought it was a must do but these are my thoughts in hindsight. It was not worth the money. It was fun seeing all of the costumes, without a doubt. The candy was fun but you sure could buy alot of candy with the money from the tickets :lmao:. Other than a very quick halloween themed parade, the parks were just as busy and not that different. I am glad we did it but really thought it was not worth the the cost. With that said, I would totally buy tickets to the Christmas one in a heartbeat because I am mad for Christmas:rotfl2:. I'm sure I would come away thinking it wasn't worth the money either though. :).

Hope that helps.

You are more than welcome. So glad you enjoyed it and that it's getting a "rerun" for a few peeps. As I have mentioned someone on the Dis before, I ended up printing out everything i wrote and popped it into a display book and it is now a priceless keepsake so I thank all my Dis buddies for encouraging me at the time.

Loved your TR:lovestruc

Your kids are gorgeous and they looked like they really enjoyed themselves. And I was so happy you did a final summary - especially about the amount of time you need to experience WDW, I have heard so much conflicting information on how many days for each park etc..

I felt like I was there with you each day - wonderful:goodvibes
