Greetings From England – The Brits Are Back!! **COMPLETED 07/05**

Yeah, that's what I've heard. I'm only concerned because looking at the website, they haven't even opened reservations for August yet... so if you were going the first week in August, that's only a little more than a month away and they still haven't put it up! I can't imagine they would stop doing it though, so I'll just have to keep stalking the website!

And those waffles sound sooo good. I'm actually not really much of a waffle person, but with the strawberries and orange that is something I would probably enjoy!

August bookings opened on 5/28 when they first opened up you could book online but you needed to actually put in the date manuelly(sp) 08/01/2011 (example) and not by clicking on the calendar date. Lately it has been reported that booking was not working online and many have reported they called to book the party.

No word yet about the September or October bookings

:thumbsup2

That was our favorite waffle too! The orange whipped cream was so delicious. And I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Yachtsman, we just had dinner there tonight for the first time in years.

Yachtsman Review coming right up :goodvibes

Yum, waffles :thumbsup2

I love the flatbreads at Roaring Fork - they are really delicious and make a change from normal CS pizza.

Hi Joh :goodvibes
We loved the flatbreads at RF, sooooo much better than the CS pizza and a lovely lunch when you are relaxing at WL :cloud9:

I'm craving waffly goodness right now!

WL is looking like a really good place to stay - a different waffle plate every morning!

Only one cocktail? You are slipping!:lmao:

Only one photo but what happens at WL stays at WL :rolleyes1

Those waffles do look fantastic - I never would have agreed to share!! :rotfl:

I think it's totally fine to fill the card with pictures of drinks. And waffles. And desserts. Hey, those are some of the best parts of vacation! :thumbsup2

Totally agree :thumbsup2
Normal rules do not apply when you are on vacation

We have not done the dessert party before.

Do you see better than standing somewhere else?

We have dinner reservations for Aug 22 at 5:50pm at Tony's, would we make it by 8pm for a 9 show?

Not sure how long your dinner at Tony's will take as I have never eaten there.
You would want to be seated for the dessert party by at least 8.30 to give yourself time to fill your plate with goodies so if you were out of Tony's by 8.15 you would be fine :thumbsup2
I don't think view is particularly better than standing on Main Street but it is nice not to fight the crowds for a spot

I just love all of your reviews! Are you doing a trip report, too, by any chance?
I was excited to read about the dessert party as we are doing this one in August. Now I have to check and see if it's on an EMH night. A day to swim and nap at the hotel and a night of sweets and an almost-empty MK sound wonderful!

Thank you for taking the time to post!!!

Thanks so much for reading along :goodvibes
I'm not sure about a TR yet, if this dining report doesn't take forever to complete I might do :thumbsup2

Hi Linda,

I am back - sorry for the lack of posts, but my computer didn't want to cooperate too much and on top of that I had lots of exams to look through.

Now on to the food! :lmao:

The dessert party is fun, isn't it .... and we have always found plenty of sweets - looks like you did too! :thumbsup2

Plus it looks like we will have to stop by WL one day to try some of those waffles ........ yum, yum, yum! ;)

Love the flatbread at RF too, can't wait for Yachtsman and find out what we are missing AGAIN! I cancelled it AGAIN!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

Hi Karin
Just back from a weekend away so I will be catching up with your reviews later.
We both really want to do WTA, can't wait for them to start taking bookings for October :thumbsup2

I can't wait to book the Wishes Dessert Party for our trip - your pics had me drooling!

The waffles at WL also look very yummy!

Let me know when you have the Dessert Party booked :thumbsup2

Great reviews!! Just got caught up:goodvibes

Thanks for reading my ramblings

Ok those waffles look fabulous! We are staying at WL on our next visit and I have a feeling I will be eating quite a few of those. Thanks for the reviews!

Oh you are going to love WL, have you stayed there before?
We loved the resort and couldn't fault Roaring Fork :thumbsup2

LINDAAAA!!!!! I'm all caught up!!! I've been so sick since getting home from Disney!!! Ok, so many things to comment on.

First of all, I'm so sorry your dinner at LeCellier was so mediocre! We personally feel that place is totally overrated. We've also experienced things being SUPER salty! Odd!

You are making me want to take a Disney Cruise!!!! I don't even LIKE the idea of a cruise, and now I want to take one!! It sounds so relaxing and amazing!! Castaway Cay looked amazing!!! WOW!!

I LOVE YOUR COCKTAIL CHOICES!! We have the same taste in cocktails, it appears! I love margaritas, and all the beachy, mai-tai like drinks look amazing! That Bahama Mama on the cruise looked to die for! Also I will agree that the margaritas from the WL pool bar are some of the best ever!! They have great tequila and they mix it really well! Sorry CSR, your pool bar didn't hold a candle to the WL pool bar!! :rotfl2:

I also LOVE the tuna sandwich from RF. It's such a great sandwich. I usually get cucumbers added to the sandwich as well as lettuce and tomato. The multigrain bread is great. OMG that just caused me to remember that Cobbler from WCC!! WOW!! If I had that giant dish in front of me there would be some problems!!! I would dive in head first!!

OK finally, your report is making me pretty positive that we want to go back next year from May 13-22 instead of our usual anniversary week. It was TOO crowded this trip on our usual week! No bueno! We need to head down there earlier. Now how do I save enough to fit a cruise in there somewhere!?!?!

Can't wait to read more!!! You guys are adorable!! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

We loved the resort and couldn't fault Roaring Fork :thumbsup2

This will be our first stay at WL, we've stayed at AKL and I hear they were designed by the same person so I have a feeling I'll be right at home! :thumbsup2

Thank you so much! That information definitely helps.

Congrats on being the Flag Family - that's real neat! I never knew that WL did that.

And those waffles... they look so delicious! I will definitely be checking those out during our trip in July... All in the name of research, right? ;)

Aww thanks for reading along :goodvibes
Sorry you've not been feeling good, better to be sick when you get home than at Disney
Hope you are feeling 100% now, I suggest an Agave Margarita, it's the best medicine there is

This will be our first stay at WL, we've stayed at AKL and I hear they were designed by the same person so I have a feeling I'll be right at home! :thumbsup2

Oh you will love it at WL
Make sure you do the Lodge Tour one morning as you'll get to hear much more about the design of the hotel :thumbsup2

Congrats on being the Flag Family - that's real neat! I never knew that WL did that.

Being the Flag Family was such a memorable experience :cloud9:
Make sure you try ALL of the waffles and report back :woohoo:

Monday 23rd May 2011 Continued

Tonight we headed over to The Yacht Club for our reservation at the Yachtsman Steakhouse

We decided to drive over and arrived in plenty of time for a drink before dinner

Once we had parked the car we headed in to Crew's Cup Lounge to fully test the bar tender at Narcoossees claim that he made the best Agave Nectar Margarita on property

DH grabbed a Coke and we headed out onto the Veranda to enjoy our drinks and the wonderful view of Stormalong Bay

My Margarita was good but a little too heavy on the Agave Nectar which meant it was too sweet (Mr Narcoossees may have been right after all :thumbsup2)

I checked us in at Yachtsman and within a couple of minutes the sound of the buzzer managed to hide the sound of our rumbling tummies and we headed into the restaurant

Your first stop upon entering the restaurant is to peek through the window of a separate ‘butcher room’ where all of the steaks are proudly displayed and you get a little talk about the meat ageing process and the various cuts

I think I heard DH's stomach rumble at this point

We were led to an excellent table in the window which gave us a lovely view of Stormalong Bay and it felt like a very private area in which to sit

I loved the décor of Yachtsman, it was light, bright and airy and the high vaulted ceilings gave a real sense of space.

There was certainly more than enough room between tables and because our table was in the centre of a bay shaped window there were actually no tables to our left or right

Soon we were introduced to Oscar who was to become without doubt the best server we had all trip

Oscar looked after us superbly all evening and it was an absolute pleasure to chat to him throughout our meal :goodvibes

He really was a delight and enhanced our evening even more than the fabulous food I am about to describe

Oscar talked us through the menu and made some suggestions before bringing us some iced water and a basket of bread

Sorry I don't seem to be able to track down a photo :guilty:

The basket contained some Sourdough and some Onion Bread

The Onion Bread was simply to die for, it was incredibly fresh and light with a delicate and delicious onion flavour :cloud9:

DH had become slightly obsessed with Sourdough on this trip so he was more than happy to eat all of that whilst I devoured the onion bread

I decided to have a glass of Sauvignon Blanc (sorry didn’t note the details) but it was another excellent glass of wine (thanks Oscar for the recommendation :thumbsup2)

I opted not to have an appetizer but DH couldn’t resist ordering this;

IMG_4493.jpg

Charcuterie Board: Smoked Duck Sausage, Venison Terrine, Black & Blue Beef Tartare, Artisanal Cheese and Accoutrements

To this day DH can’t stop raving about this Appetizer, he enjoyed every single mouthful and would happily go back to Yachtsman night after night just for this dish :worship:

He tells me that all of the flavours worked together is perfect harmony and was by far the best Charcuterie Board he had ever tried

I was getting hungry for my entrée after hearing DH praising this dish so highly so I was very happy when presented with this:

IMG_4494.jpg

Wild Atlantic Cod with Lobster Risotto, Top Neck Clams, Delta Asparagus and Sherry Lobster Pan Sauce

Beautiful presentation and a beautiful dish

The Cod was perfectly cooked and the Lobster Risotto was the perfect accompaniment, it didn’t over power the delicate taste of the Cod and worked really well with the fish

And here is DH’s entrée

IMG_4495.jpg

Filet Mignon; 8-oz Filet, Mashed Potatoes and Red Wine Sauce

Could it possibly live up to the appetizer he had given such glowing reviews?

Hell yeah, he loved this just as much :cool1:

It was a perfectly cooked and melt in the mouth tender filet with a huge helping of the most creamy and fluffy mash potatoes you could wish for, his verdict ………. Perfect

Onto desserts, and here is DH's choice

IMG_4496.jpg

Signature Banana Napoleon - Custard, White Chocolate and Banana Mousse, and Crispy Phyllo

He nearly licked the plate clean  Another 10 out of 10 from DH

And for me;

IMG_4497.jpg

The Yachtsman Sundae - Trio of Gelato with Amarena Cherries

If I was going to be ultra picky, and I hate to say anything bad about this meal as it was such a wonderful evening, there were quite a few ice crystals in the Gelato which meant it lost some of the creamy texture I would have expected

So Yachtsman Steakhouse provided us with a truly fantastic dinner and definitely the best of the trip so far

The service and food were both impeccable and our wonderful server Oscar was a total star

With huge smiles on our faces we headed back to Wilderness Lodge wondering if any of our upcoming ADRs could possibly top this one

Coming Up Next ……………………Breakfast With Pooh!

Great review again, Linda!

Your DHs starter looks like something Tom would definitely enjoy too! :thumbsup2

Sorry about the dessert - I hate ice-cream with crystals in it! :sad2: I can't say it often enough - but I really really love your reviews! :thumbsup2

Morning Karin :goodvibes
Thanks for reading along, I didn't get chance to update over the weekend so I have a lot of catching up to do
Have you ever tried Yachtsman?
We loved it so much in there :thumbsup2

No, we have not been to Yachtsman yet! I guess that is part of the problem :lmao: ....... I book it every year and then we tend to cancel, mostly because we have never been and don't know what we are missing, ;) it's a signature and we need to change before eating there.
Maybe I can figure it in again this summer - I just dropped the ADR I had for August!

Oscar was our server too last year. We still talk about him now. He made our two children feel right at ease in such a fancy restaurant.
When we got home i emailed the B/YC and told them what a delight he was,and how he made our meal extra special. I do hope hes still there next year

Wow, your meal at Yachtsman Steakhouse looks fabulous! My family really needs to try this place. My Dad loves Filet Mignon, and your DH's looks absolutely perfect!

Yachtsman looks great. I am like Karin, have booked and cancelled several times on previous trips. No chance of going this trip as I feel it would be wasted on the kiddos so will have to wait and see if I can persuade DH to do another adult only trip next summer - and, if we do, we are DEFINITELY GOING TO YACHTSMAN!!!!

Great review of The Yatchsman! We actually had ADRs for that on our trip but had to cancel them and now I am so bummed that we did. I'll definitely have to add that on again for our next trip!

I'm so glad you had Oscar!! He's been our favorite server for 2 years and we'll continue to wait to sit in his section. I even took my mom there in March, and I wasn't sure he'd remember me with out my other half... but he did and promptly asked where he was! He's always a joy!! \

Glad you had a great time!!

LOVED the look of Yachtsman!:lovestruc

Your Hubby's starter looked amazing!

We have never been there either - might have to look into it.....:rolleyes1
