First fathers day here :) anyone else??
Nothings going to happen that's different (she's only 3 months) but oh well.

But, I need to get something really really nice for my dad this year.
Any ideas? I don't know what to give him. He plays golf but he already has all the stuff he needs for that I guess and I'm not sure what else would be nice or fun.

Spend as much time as you can with him.

I miss my Dad.

+1 on this. Write him a note telling him how much you appreciate him. Do dad's really need anything?

I still have my dad but almost lost him last year and he is really slowing down. I'll get to see him at the end of the month though when we travel north. :cool1:

Congratulations and enjoy your little one as well. Let her take a nap on your chest. I miss the days when mine were small enough to do that. :sad1:

I'm sorry about both of your dads- losing and almost losing :(
I still want to get him a present but I hadn't thought of a letter saying how much he means to me, that's a really good idea. I'm going to do that.
That's nice about Emma sleepin on my chest, I always put her down when she's sleepin cause I'm afraid of waking her up but maybe I could try doing that anyway. It sounds nice though.
I am already taking my dad out to eat on fathers day but I haven't got a gift yet cause I can't think of anything yet but hopefully I will think of something today or tomorrow. I'll go ahead and start on a letter though. He's a good dad I will have a lot to say in the letter. :)

I've developed a tradition of giving my dad tickets to go and do something with me - a movie I know he wants to see (especially if it's something I know Mom doesn't want to see), a baseball game, etc. I think of it as kind of a 2-for-1 gift. We get to spend some time together, just the two of us, and he gets to do something he likes doing and might not get to otherwise.

Your Dad likes golf? Then when you go in Novemeber to the world get him a round of golf for the trip!!!

Thanks for the kind thoughts. Your dad raised a considerate son by the looks of it. :thumbsup2

I remember the new dad fears. They seem so tiny and breakable but they are pretty tough. That was the easiest way for me to get one of the kids to sleep. Everyone is different and you do what works.

My dad says I shouldn't hold her till she falls asleep cuz then she won't be able to fall asleep on her own, but...I do it anyway. She likes being held.
Yeah lots of new dad anxiety. When I first got her i didn't even know how to hold a baby :confused3

We were told that as well but I believe you can't over hold them. If they are tired enough they fall asleep whether they want to or not. The day will come too quickly when they don't want to be held anymore. Everyone has to find what works for them. No 2 kids are alike and everybody parents differently.

I asked my dad about golf on the trip and he said he doesn't want to play golf while we're on vacation. I wouldn't normally tell about a present but if it would be done on the trip I thought I should ask first cause it would affect his schedule for our trip.
Then he said what he does need is an edger for the yard and then he told me if I wanted to get that for him he would drive me over to Lowes (i cant drive yet) on his way to pick up Emma from the babysitter and I could get it because it's on sale this week. It's not a cool present but he does need it and he probably didn't want to ask for something too expensive since I obviously don't have a ton of money.

Same here my friend. I feel for you. Happy fathers day to both you and your father, I'm sure he's looking down.

Thanks Paul, BTW great job on your post over on DisDads.com. :thumbsup2

Jeremy, if I were your father, the best thing you could give me would be your promise to finish school and not drop out.

I miss my dad very much also. This Fathers Day, I am going to spend as much time as possible with my kids. They are playing in a soccer tournament, and I am coaching again. I love being out there with all the kids. Maybe DD's team can repeat as champs and make it even more special.

Thanks for taking the time to read it Randall! I enjoyed writing it, brought back some good memories of my dad.

I'm not going to drop out. I like school and I get good grades.

Keep up the good work!

Sounds like a terrific father's day Jason. Enjoy it! :thumbsup2

Jeremy, do you plan to go to collage after High School?

Hi Jason, good to hear from you again. How are you doing?

Yeah. And i know i have emma but i dont have to worry about tuition or stuff like that because i have a trust fund set up from my grandparents set up for college. I never knew them but they left that to me so I really appreciate that. :) I don't know what I want to do yet but I think college will be cool cuz it'll be different than high school. Still 3 more years to go though...

This is going to be my first father's day with my daughter (she's 2), I was deployed for the first two, so I'm really happy.

This weekend is also my first anniversary with my wife since 2007.

Me and Charlie Sheen. . .WINNING!!!!!
