The Hero, and His Princess Return DxDDP - Earl of Sandwich (4/21)

I'm loving your reviews. And my favorite part: Josh and your take at the end of each report. Sorry you weren't feeling well for LTT. Beside LeCellier, that is PrincessK's favorite place. I think it's good too, but I'm not crazy about it like she is. Unfortunately for us, we're very much meat and potatoes kind of people and don't try new things often. I'm looking forward to all your reviews. Keep 'em coming! :thumbsup2

Great Yak & Yeti Review :goodvibes
I love the look of your shrimp dish
I am thinking of trying for an ADR as the menu really appeals

Great reviews! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to eat at TH! Y&Y looks great - the green beans and shrimp dish makes me kind of wish we had made an ADR! Oh well there's always next time...;)

Awesome reviews so far!!!! You have many on your lineup that my mom and I are doing come November:)

I'm super happy you have your hero home with you know <3. Sorry to hear that you had a migraine your first night there, they are definitely not fun, and NOT want you want on a trip. I feel for you. Hope the rest of your trip was fantastic!! Can't wait to read about it:)

We ate at Yak and Yeti and sat at the table that was across from you!!! I'm entirely jealous that you ate the green beans. I had considered getting them, but figured I'd be too full and that's never a good thing. Keep the reviews coming!

They were so yummy! You need to get them next time!

YAY! :cool1:

I'm in. Can't wait to read more of your reviews. I have a special affinity for military wives and thier spouses being that I used to be one and still would be if it weren't for a training accident (DH is now a disabled US Marine Veteran). So glad your husband came home safe. I'll have to go back and check out you wedding TR. Yak and Yeti looks good. That's one we would really like to try.

I am sorry about your husband! Have fun on the wedding TR, and yes you have to try Y&Y!

Glad you enjoy. I figure a good breakdown after my rambling would be helpful!

Really enjoying your reviews!:thumbsup2

I can't believe Josh got egg rolls instead of pot stickers!:sad2:

I was really surprised the waiter didn't notice :guilty:

It was yummy! Not the best shrimp dish I had, but very yummy!

Thank you! I am excited, the Photopass CD has shipped, so it should be going in a bit!

I didn't make any ADRs in Animal Kingdom because none of the places really stood out to me when I looked at the websites... but now I wish we went for the Yak and Yeti! I've seen a few reviews of this place and it looks delicious! Your shrimp meal looks like it was really good. Next time I am definitely going to get a reservation there.

I missed two updates! :sad2: but I'm back on board now! :thumbsup2

I completely agree with your waitress at Tusker House, the lunch there is fantastic and you should give it a shot on your next trip! I've never done breakfast there but it looks yummy and not super crowded. I'll keep that in mind next time I'm looking for a character meal.

I've done Y&Y twice (I think) and I haven't had the best experiences. Sorry the waiter brought Josh the wrong appy- where there even egg rolls on the menu? What a strange mix up! I think that your shrimp lo mein looked yummy, I'll have to keep that in mind if we return to Y&Y. I do have to agree that the pineapple wontons are yummy, and I might just go back one day for Yak attacks and those wontons!

Snack Time!!!!

On our way out of the park we stopped at the Oasis Bridge cart, and got a little snack! I got a Mickey Bar, and Joshua got an Almond Bar!
Here is a nice photopass photo of us with my Mickey Bar!

I will replace this later, once I get the CD in the mail!
Josh loved his almond bar “It had almonds in it” --- ? My Mickey bar was as good as they come!
Defiantly worth the snack credits!
Yumm and YAY!

I hate how limited the food is in some of the parks! It can make planning hard! But having the credits to "burn" made us try some things that I wouldn't have otherwise, and I now have a few new must dos!

The wontons were yummy! I wish I could have eaten more of my dessert!
Glad you are caught up!

I'm a fellow Mainer reading your report! What part are you from?
Glad you had a nice trip, sorry to hear about that migraine.

Ya know, Josh is not the only one to think that about the duck dish! I got it last year (I've had duck before in an asian resturant and it was soo good) and it was just blah. I hardly ate half of it. I can't help but wonder though how the waiter mistook egg rolls for potstickers?:confused3

BTW great decision on the Mickey Bar! Those are always nummy!

Great report! I've never heard of an almond bar!

I can't wait to try Tusker House breakfast, it sounds amazing.

Yeah, I feel like Hollywood Studios doesn't have too much to offer either. We ended up going with the Sci-Fi (I see you tried a few places in HS including that one, so I'm looking forward to what you have to say!). The Brown Derby sounds good but it's 2 credits. DF refuses to go to 50's primetime because he says he doesn't want anyone bothering him while he's trying to eat :rotfl: He just doesn't like the whole concept behind that place, though I was there with friends once and it was fun. And Mama Melrose and Hollywood & Vine just seem sort of blah, so we went with Sci-Fi. At least the atmosphere there should be fun!

Great updates - we have onl;y eaten at Yak & Yeti CS which is great. Sorry that Josh was disappointed with the duck - I love duck so I would probably have been disappointed too.

Was there anything out of the ordinary at TH brekkie? Or was it the standard buffet breakfast offerings?

Great PP pic! :thumbsup2

They are so fun! :mickeybar

I didn't try the Almond bar... but Josh said it was good. Tusker House was amazing though, so I say go for it!

We had alot of good food in DHS, I hope you enjoy my reviews!

Bangor, at the moment! I went to college at USM but I actually enjoy eastern Maine a little more.

Nice!

TH Breakfast was normal breakfast food, but very tasty!

Day 1 (5/28) Narcoossee's

Seating time- 7:50

After a wonderful day exploring the animals it was time to head to one of the dinner reservations that I was most excited about!
We took a bus to Magic Kingdom, and hopped a boat over to the Grand Floridian. I was thrilled when we were greeted at the door by a very nice man who welcomed us, and directed us to the podium. We checked in, and I asked for a table on the windows. We were told it would be a bit of a wait, but they would do their best!
We decided to step out onto the deck, and enjoy the view while we waited.

We were very surprised by the number of children that we saw running around! I thought that we had made our reservation on the late side, but I guess not quite late enough.

It wasn’t too long before we were lead to a nice 4 top on the windows!

Our view

We ordered drinks to start : Josh got a coke, and I got a sprite.

I love that the menus are printed everyday!

I knew to hit the timing right, we were going to have to take our time with this meal. I asked if we could have a few moments with the menu before we ordered. Our server brought us some bread and butter. The bread was crusty on the outside, and nice and soft on the inside. It was served with butter that was sprinkled with salt. Butter is one of my weaknesses. I try so hard to avoid it at home, but I had butter every day we were on vacation!

IMG_3197.jpg

For appetizers I chose to go with the mussels, and the wine pairing with it.

IMG_3198.jpg

The mussels themselves were very sweet. I loved the broth that they were served in. The “toast” that they were served with was not very toasty at all. I was not impressed. My whine paring was fantastic, and really complimented both the mussels and the broth.

Joshua went with the calamari

IMG_3199.jpg

Josh wanted a photo for my Disney Friends that showed that it wasn’t just the circles, that there were tentacles too… eww

IMG_3200.jpg

We enjoyed the electrical water pageant, as we waited for our entrees to come, and as we first dug into them.

IMG_3204.jpg

For an entrée I chose the grilled filet minion

IMG_3205.jpg

My steak was very tasty, cooked to a perfect medium rare. I really like the veggies that came with it. The potatoes were so rich that I only took a few bites, but they were very very good. I wiped the sauce off my steak, it didn’t do the meat any favors. I am a big fan of the idea that a really good piece of meat doesn’t need sauces to cover it up.

Joshua went with the Salmon, the Chef’s recommendation for the evening.

IMG_3206-1.jpg

It was very rare, and Josh had never had rare fish before. That took him a bit by surprise. “It was good” He didn’t really eat all the stuff piled on it, as he was more interested in the fish. I am not a big fan of fish, so we don’t have it at home very often.

With the meal Josh ordered himself a few of these

IMG_3209.jpg

Warning, if you have a child, or act like a child like I do, the water parade can be distracting

IMG_3210.jpg

Soon enough our dessert menus appeared

IMG_3216.jpg

I chose the Bittersweet Chocolate Mousse. I am a big fan of bitter, dark chocolate.

IMG_3217.jpg

For me, this was by far the best part of the meal. The mousse was very chocolaty. It was bitter, but not too bitter. I loved the fresh berries and whipped cream that were with it! I would love to have this again!

Josh went with the gelato sampler.

IMG_3218.jpg

It had chocolate, raspberry, pistachio and cappuccino!
Me – how as the gelato
Josh – it was good
Me – just good?
Josh – uh hu

Then it was time for the fireworks!!
IMG_3227.jpg

IMG_3232.jpg

A wonderful boat ride back, and we were headed to bed, dreaming of noming our way through the Magic Kingdom!

I can’t find the receipt, so I can’t tell you how much it was… I will keep looking!
Credits used – 4
Worth the Credits:
Josh – Yea I would say so due to the view. The food and the view.
Me – Meh. I would like to try another signature. I liked Cali Grill better I think….. but I would give it another try
