Greetings From England – The Brits Are Back!! **COMPLETED 07/05**

Hi Linda!

Great update :thumbsup2

Animator's Palate sounds wonderful - especially with the walls 'coming to life'!

Don't worry about lack of photos - we just have to use our imaginations!:lmao:

I know what you mean - sometimes it just feels wrong to take photos. I would feel the same if we were sitting with other people.

How fab you had a mickey bar as your dessert! What a great suggestion!

How many servers did you have? It must be very reassuring having the same great servers every night.

Another great update! Don't worry about the lack of photos - I would probably feel the same way while dining with other people. I love that you got a Mickey Bar for dessert. That's always a good decision!

Great review, Linda, even without photos!

Tablemates can be hit or miss. On our first cruise last year we had "Mr. Know it all" at our table, cruise no two last summer had a DISer at our table and we made instant friends! :lmao:

Your descriptions of the food sound yummy - I cannot wait to try the restaurants myself.
And :woohoo: for ordering a Mickey bar - they are always delish! :goodvibes

Can't wait for more!

Oh Karin you will have a blast on The Dream :cool1:
I hope you get another set of good table mates :goodvibes

Hi Shari
Boo to the rain in England today :sad2:
We had three servers each evening but it's really just the Head Server and his Assistant that you really get to know
We had great fun with them on the last night when it was just the two of us :thumbsup2

You can never go wrong with a Mickey Bar, and it was a posh one, it was seved in a bowl with a spoon

Love the reviews of the food on the cruise! What a great experience!

Yay on sailing off with drinks in hand - as you said it would be rude not to!

Also glad to read that you were happy with the rotation of dining. The second review sounds enjoyable even without photos - love the Mickey bar ending! :thumbsup2

Eek at the awful weather we have been getting - hate it.

I'm loving your reviews!! And I'm getting so thirsty looking at the drink photos. I'm going to WDW in August with my sister(without my daughter for the first time!:cool1:) and we plan to drink around the world - your photos have definitely given me some good ideas! And in January, I will be taking my daughter on the Dream for a 3 night cruise as well so thank you so much for your cruise dining reviews as well. I'm even more excited now (if that's possible!).

My sis and I will be staying at WL in August and I'm so glad to hear about the waffle menu and the good food at Whispering Canyon. Our first visit to Le Cellier was amazing and now I'm getting nervous after reading some of the reviews lately. Maybe one of those drinks that you had will help! Looking forward to hearing more!

Totally understand about the photos! We went on a Carnival cruise and they now have a "Your Time" dining option, which basically means you can go whenever you want and you don't have designated dinner times. It was nice because they had a lot of two person tables, so we never shared with anyone for dinner! But your descriptions of the food sound so delicious!

Oh for a little Florida sunshine eh? :beach:

I'm loving the cruise reviews! Can't wait to get on that ship in September. :goodvibes

I'm sure you will love the cruise Lauren :goodvibes

I can't say enough good things about WL, we loved it there :cloud9:
I'm sure Le Cellier will be great, I think we just picked a bad night

I was worried the lack of photos might make the reviews a bit dull ;)

Friday 20th May 2011 - Nassau

We woke bright and early after a wonderful night’s sleep to find ourselves pulling into port at Nassau.

We watched from the veranda as Captain Tom did an excellent job of ‘parking’ :sail:

Last night over dinner we both decided to stay on the ship for the day instead of visiting Nassau; It was only a three day cruise and we really wanted to explore the ship and have a more relaxing day as we had just spent a very busy week in WDW and both felt a leisurely day was called for :thumbsup2

First stop after grabbing a morning coffee was Cabanas

DH isn’t much of a breakfast person so I picked up some food from the buffet and took it back to our Stateroom to enjoy of the veranda

IMG_4248.jpg

Pancakes, Muffins and Cereal

Everything was very good; they had just made a fresh batch of pancakes so they were really fresh and light

The breakfast offerings at Cabanas are vast; I am sure that everyone could find something to enjoy and I was very impressed with the presentation and cleanliness of the buffet areas.

Following breakfast we had a wonderful morning riding the Aqua-Duck, playing the Mid-Ship Detective Agency (what do you mean, it’s supposed to be for kids ) and delivering our FE gifts

DH was beginning to feel hungry so in between splashing around in the pool and enjoying the hot-tub (it has a glass floor!) he headed to Tow-Mater Grill to pick up a cheeseburger

IMG_4256.jpg

Cheeseburger

He didn’t want any fries and said the his burger was great and just want he needed

I didn’t feel particularly hungry but couldn’t resist picking up a plate of sushi on our way to the Buena Vista Theatre to watch the new Pirates Of The Carribean movie which had only opened that day

IMG_4265.jpg

Sushi

This was 'OK', it was kind of like the stuff that you pick up at the local grocery store, not very exciting

By the time the film was finished we both wanted to get a quick bite to tied us over until dinner so we headed back to our veranda via Luigi's Pizza

IMG_4286.jpg

Vegetable Pizza

Margherita for DH (sorry can’t find the photo) and Vegetable for me; both slices were very tasty and the bases were thin and crispy; perfect and really hit the spot

We loved being able to take food back to the veranda to enjoy and as we were on deck 10 and Cabanas was on deck 11 it was very quick and easy to do

After more exploring we needed a sweet treat so it was back to deck 10

Banana Ice Cream

This was delicious! I don’t recall ever having banana flavoured ice cream before; I don’t think it sounds particularly appealing but this was just yummy

I never did get chance to get back there for more but if it’s available of our seven day cruise I may well just set up camp next to the self -serve machine for the week :goodvibes

Coming Up Next – The Enchanted Garden

I don't know if you have been to Nassau before, but you actually didn't miss much by staying on the ship! :goodvibes

Thanks for all the photos and reviews - it's nice to know that there is lots of "snack" food. We love to do the same, pick up food and take it back to the stateroom and funnily enough we will be on deck 10 as well - stateroom 10554 to be precise!

It's great to hear that there are different ice-cream flavours. On the wonder it was vanilla, chocolate or a swirl of both, with some sauces to top it off!
And I haven't seen sushi on the Wonder either! Tom will love to hear that! :thumbsup2

What 7 day cruise did you rebook? And when are you cruising again?

Um, that brings me to the conclusion that you have been bitten by the cruise bug too! ;) :rotfl2:

Hi Karin :goodvibes
I had read some mixed reviews about Nassau and I thought we would probably have more fun staying on the ship and we certainly did have fun :woohoo:
We played mini-golf, went on the Aqua-Duck several times, did the mid-ship detective agency, enjoyed the hot-tubs and generally had an awsome time
We have booked a 7 night Western Carribean on The Fantasy for May next year :thumbsup2

Great food pics! Have not had breakfast yet so they are making me hungry, lol!!

At least there was a few photos today :thumbsup2

I agree that you didn't miss much in Nassau! Except for the Atlantis resort, everything is pretty blah there.

And that banana ice cream looks delicious! I love anything banana flavored and would love to try that!

Hi Linda!

I don't blame you for staying on the boat - was it nice and quiet with everyone going ashore or did lots of people stay on the boat? I would want to explore too!

There seem to be so many food and drink options!:lmao: It all looks lovely and I am becoming more and more tempted.......

I would never have chosen banana ice cream normally but we both loved it :banana:

The ship seemed really empty on Nassau day but to be honest we never really felt it was overly busy at any point during the cruise
It's such a huge ship you can always find a quiet spot :thumbsup2

Friday 20th May 2011 Continued

Hi everyone

Following a wonderful day of fun on The Dream we headed back up to Currents Bar on Deck 12 for a relaxing drink

IMG_4267.jpg

Passion Margarita
Jose Cuervo Tequila, Grand Marnier, Sweet & Sour, Lime and Orange Passion Guarva Juice

Sunshine in a glass :cloud9:

DH had a coke and treated himself to a cigar

IMG_4247-1.jpg

We headed back to our stateroom to shower and relax for a while on the veranda before heading back up to Deck 12 just as the ship was leaving the port at Nassau

Tonight’s theme was ‘Pirate’s Night’ so I picked up the ‘Pirate Cocktail’ from a friendly CM and enjoyed the view

IMG_4287.jpg

Sorry, I didn’t take a note of what was in this one but the glass was a cool keepsake :thumbsup2

Our designated restaurant tonight was the Enchanted Garden which was a beautifully designed restaurant

It was a much more adult environment than Animator’s Palate but still had a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere

The décor is in the vain of an old conservatory and very much reminded me of the beautiful Victorian greenhouses at Kew Gardens in London

Throughout the evening the lighting subtly changes and there are other special effects to give the impression of day turning to night ……….. truly an enchanted garden :lovestruc

As per the night before at Animator’s Palate, I didn’t feel comfortable using my camera at the table so it’s a photo free review I’m sorry to report :sad2:

The seating arrangement tonight was different from the previous night at Animator’s Palate and it meant that DH and I could sit next to each other and chat away to our hearts content (we both talk a lot :rotfl:)

Our wonderful servers joined us again and made some menu recommendations and began to take drink orders

I asked our assistant server for some wine recommendations; he was hugely knowlegable and enthusiastic and we shared many of the same tastes.

I went with his recommendation of a very nice Sauvignon Blanc (sorry didn’t note down any details) but I do know it was from Sonoma

First off we were served bread which tonight was a Multi-grain Loaf and Country Current Bread with Chickpea-Garlic Puree; yummy!

Myself and DH both went for the same appetiser tonight; the North Atlantic Lobster Ravioli with Roasted Garlic and Sweet Basil in a light Tomato Broth

The pasta was not quite as light as the Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes I had enjoyed the previous evening but it was still a flavoursome dish and the tomato broth was perfect with the ravioli

We were both pretty hungry so decided on a salad course as well

DH chose the Romaine Wedge; Fresh Crisp Romaine topped with a creamy Romano Dressing and homemade spiced croutons

His comments? …………….. ‘perfect’

I chose the Baby Spinach Salad, tender Spinach tossed with fresh sliced seasonal Pears, Tossed Pine Nuts and Crumbled Gorgonzola

I didn’t really enjoy this dish, it really just was a big plate of leaves with a tiny amount of the other ingredients and little or no dressing and I ended up leaving most of it :guilty:

Not to worry, the entrees were on the way

DH ordered the Grilled NY Strip Steak with Thyme Roasted Vegetables, Double-baked potato topped with handmade Herb Butter

Once again this dish was a big hit and the steak was cooked perfectly. DH really enjoyed his meal

For me; Pan-seared Sea Bass with Saffron and Fennel Risotto with a Sweet Chili Glaze

This turned out to be my favourite entrée of the Cruise.

I love Sea Bass and if it’s listed on a menu I nearly always order it and this was just as great as I had hoped it would be :cloud9:

The risotto was delicious and the sweet chilli glaze really lifted the dish from ordinary to extra-ordinary

Onto desserts; DH chose the Steamed Lemon Buttermilk Pudding with a Citrus Reduction

I thought it sounded a bit heavy at the end of a big meal but in fact it was a very light and delicate dish and as with all of the portion sizes on our Cruise it was not over-facing

I chose the winner though  Banana Foster Sundae; Rum -glazed Bananas, Vanilla Ice Cream, Whipped Cream and Caramel Sauce

Yum, yum, yum :yay:

Following dinner we took some coffee up to Deck 12 to watch the fireworks which was such a special moment; watching the sky light up in the middle of the ocean

Later that evening after exploring more of the ship and browsing in the shops we discovered that there was a dessert buffet

Although we were still full from dinner I wanted to try something so I picked up these

IMG_4302.jpg

Chocolate-Chip Cookie & Pecan Slice

Both were very tasty, I particularly liked the pecan slice

It’s going to be great to be on a longer cruise next year as there is just too much food to pack into three days

Coming Up Next …………. A Little Bit Of Paradise In Castaway Cay!

Yeah! I know I can rely on you to post some yummy reviews for me when I am home typing out daily plans and trip reports! :goodvibes

I really LOVE to see all the yummy drinks you had - gonna get me some of those in August! :thumbsup2

I had a similar experience with salad last year - lots of leaves, no dressing, very little of the extra ingredients. :sad2:
Didn't eat much either. ;)

I so have my heart set on the banana foster sundae! Thanks for giving it the :thumbsup2

So, you are going on the Western Caribbean cruise - we are debating an Eastern Caribbean, as I have heard great things about St. Thomas and St. Maarten! It will be interesting to see what we decide on and what you have to report next year! :goodvibes

Morning Karin :goodvibes

We thought long and hard about Eastern Vs Western and I think both itineraries have plus and minus sides
I left the decision to DH and he just prefered the sound of 'Mexico' and that the two sea days weren't back to back; it was no more scientific than that

I just came upon your review this morning and I am really enjoying it! I will be making our ADR's this time next week and because of your review I will be adding a few places that I hadn't expected too. I was just in London last week and it was quite dreary! I haven't been on a Disney cruise yet, just Carnival, but think I might have to try and fit one in while I am stateside this summer with my son and daughter. I agree with previous posters that you did not miss anything by staying on the boat at Nassua. Atlantis is the only thing worth seeing there and I am convinced that my hubby and I will have to plan a vacay there one day! That bananna icecream looked heavenly and so do all the cocktails that you have been enjoying. :thumbsup2 Looking forward to the rest of your review!

Another great update Linda!

That seabass sure sounds delicious - and I really like the look of that passion magarita!;)

Looking forward to the Little bit of paradise!
