DAY 3 - May 16th, 2011 - Day At Sea #1 (Part 1)
For whatever reason, we start waking up around 8:30 (kinda crazy considering we were up late for the movie...maybe were just too excited!). At about 9:30, we start getting ready, even though the alarm was set for 10:00. I call the wake-up call line since they also give the current time when you call. Surprisingly, it was the correct, one-hour forward time! So, I guess well start utilizing this option since they appear to be on top of things. I also check the wave phones, and those have been adjusted appropriately.
At about 10:20, we start heading downstairs. As we turn to walk through Shutters, we see Mom coming out of Animators Palate! She was done with the scrapbooking event...what perfect timing! We head over to Lumieres for some brunch (mainly since our server, Marianne, would be serving). We requested to be seated in her section, and it was honored. She was so happy to see us!
Im sorry to say I dont recall what I had...Im thinking I got french toast. I dont really remember what anyone else had...silly me, I forgot to write it down. I know for dessert, the white chocolate and macadamia brownie pie was ordered by James:
Once we completed our brunch, we went over to Guest Services to sign up for some beverage tastings. James was interested in the martini tasting, and I wanted to do a beer tasting with Dad as a belated birthday present. So, we found times that worked for us, and got those two tastings set up! Around this time, a Princess Gathering was occurring in the lobby:
And then shortly after, we found ourselves walking by/in the shops.
Our progress, as shown on a TV outside the Walt Disney Theatre:
(I really wish I took more pictures of our progress and the sea conditions throughout the cruise...wouldve been neat to do it at the same time every day. Oh well.)
What shall we do next? Play games of course! So, we went to Diversions and ended up playing Scattergories until about 1:30. Then, Mom and Dad stood in line for wristbands outside Mickey Mates. (The wristbands were to guarantee a special transatlantic pin that would be released either the next day or the day after.) James and I proceeded into the Walt Disney Theatre for the Don Ducky Williams presentation! As we entered, he was already doing sketches. It started just after 2:00 and Mom and Dad arrived just in time with two wristbands in hand!
He talked about how he got started and was doing sketches to raffle off the whole time. (As you entered the theatre, you were given a raffle ticket.) He ended up doing about 23 or 24 sketches, and naturally, none of us won. It was such a wonderful presentation and Im definitely glad we went! Here are some pictures from it:
The presentation ended at about 3:00. We decided we were hungry, so we went upstairs to deck 9 to get some food! Chicken tenders and pizza sounded appetizing, so thats what we got. We took the food back to the room, ate it, and then turned on the TV and just relaxed. I ended up falling asleep (and I think James did, too!). At 5:00, we started getting ready for the first formal night! It was going to be a purple night for the boys. We each had a purple shirt to wear with our suits!
At roughly 5:45, we were on our way downstairs to head to the theatre. On the way, I took a picture of a leak in the aft elevator lobby and the dinner menu:
Around 6:00, the doors opened to the Walt Disney Theatre (and yes, we were waiting right outside). We got our seats and waited for the show to start! Tonight was Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story. I saw it on my very first
Disney cruise, and hadnt seen it since. Everyone else hadnt seen it before, so we were all very excited for the show! It started right at 6:30...Drizella slipped, there was a fall or two, and the pyro for Francos exit didnt work. Other than that, it was a wonderful show. At times, though, I feel there is too much use of the projection screen. I took LOTS of pictures (shocking):
