Hi, I just stumble across your trip report, and we were in Disney World around the same time I'm enjoying the report so far. I hope whatever happened next wasn't bad enough to ruin the whole trip!

Yay for arriving at AKL! I had a hard time finding Mara when we visited AKL last year too. Once I found it I don't why I couldn't last year. It is much harder to get around AKL than WL. Once we were at AKL, WL seemed so small and compact. Our walk to the room took forever!

Your food looks good. I'm not very adverturous and stuck to a cesear sald, but your flatbread looks good. I wasn't a big zebra dome fan. I thought they were okay, but with so many other yummy dessert around they ended up in the trash.

I hope your room was ready soon. Nothing is more annoying than being exhausted with no room.

I love the pics of AKL! I think that's where my Fiance and I are going to stay for our honeymoon, so I always get excited when I read reports of people who have stayed there. Can't wait for the next installment!

Great pics of AKL! I've seen a bit of the resort just from being there for Boma. I have a feeling when my mom sees AKL in September she is going to fall in love with the place!

AKL is much harder to get around than WL - WL is simple and smaller, or so it seems. The flatbread was really good, but if I knew the chicken was spicy I would've done something like a salad too. DH is much more adventurous than me in his food choices, so he loved Mara and Boma. I think the zebra domes would've been so much better without the chocolate liquor.

Hi Vivian, thanks for reading my TR! Oh goodness, that is a tough one. After our 7 nights at AKL my DH & I said we actually were ready to stay at a value again. But, I think that is because we don't spend enough time in the room to make it worth paying for a deluxe. Do you spend more time in the room, or at the parks? I would take that into consideration. AKL was gorgeous, and the animals were really cool. We really like the food court at Pop, so many options!

LOL everyone tells me that about being allergic to chocolate. Usually all the meds I have to take to eat it aren't worth it, so I just eat chocolate in Disney!

Haha, I honestly don't remember who won but my guess was probably the Yankess. It's rough being loyal to the O's sometimes - I'm ready for them to have a winning season!

You poor thing! All that time waiting for a room and the inconsiderate CM never bothered to check!

Honestly, I would have bawled my eyes out too. Then again, at that point, I wouldn't have been civil. I'm glad your DH took care of things. I'd love to know what he said to finally get a room to magically appear for you!

But I agree, I think that once they realized you waited around so long, they should have upgraded you, or at least, done SOMETHING nice (and most certainly apologized!!!).

As for lounging on that couch, I would have kicked my shoes off, and laid down to nap since they weren't in a hurry to put me in a room. I actually would have went back to the CM who checked me in and said "I'll be over there napping if you'll come nudge me when my room is ready." And the first CM to give me a dirty look, I'd write their name down and include it in my list of "these people made my stay miserable Uncle Walt"!

I truly hope your vacation picked up from there. Glad you had a good dinner and got to see MSEP.

Wow, what a terrible day. I can't believe the horrible customer service you received. At least you got the savanna view but I agree with you, not worth the annoyance.

I also don't understand the dirty looks people were giving you. Have they never seen a guest waiting for their room before?

What an awful way to start your vacation I can't believe they didn't take the time to actually check to see if the room was ready.

I don't understand the dirty looks from CM's when waiting for your room. I always hear of people waiting for there room or hanging around after they checked out the last day.

I am so happy you finally got upgraded to Savannah view, but at that point it probably wasn't enough. They should have comped your Boma meal or something. Your whole experience and how it was handled sounds completely unacceptable to me. I am glad your DH took it okay and handled it.

I hope your trip gets better soon.

Aw, that was a rocky start I think most people would react the same way... funny how even the littlest thing can get you frustrated when you're tired. The one and only time my DDs (and myself, too) had a meltdown while at WDW was because they (we) were tired.

My BFF and her DH have actually slept on the sofas in the AKL lobby, LOL! While waiting for their room to be ready, as a matter of fact.

I'm appalled that you had to suffer through those things, especially the CM's giving you dirty looks and being so careless with your room. I sure hope you guys got a hold of someone important after your vacation to tell Disney how utterly disappointed you were. Me being me, I wouldn't even have waited. But I wanted to cheer when I found out your husband made someone do something so that you got a better room.

I'm so sorry your arrival at AKL was so crappy! I can only imagine how tired, hot and FRUSTRATING that afternoon was!

Really nice room upgrade, though. What beautiful views! Did you end up with a king bed or not?

I'm glad you enjoyed Boma- eating at your resort is a great strategy for the first night you arrive, especially with all of the problems you had.
