I have a Sony A-300 that I have been using almost exclusively for my grandkids ball games. My DGS had a game tonight. I normally use the viewfinder when taking pics as I find I hold the camera a little steadier. His first at bat I took pics and after he scored I went to check them. My live view screen was white with a bunch of lines. I tried everything I could think of and nothing changed. I have no idea what happened as it worked fine last night. After freaking out just a little I called Best Buy and thankfully I have an extended warranty so it will be fixed. Unfortunately I now have to use a handheld for my DGD's dance recital. :sad1: I have been thinking of a second body so I may be getting one this week. I think I will be getting extended warranty's on all future camera purchases.

Sorry that happened to you - but just because you had one bad experience, is no reason to jump off the deep end. Stores won't admit it to their customers, but internally they all agree, extended warranties are the biggest profit maker out there. The chances you will ever need it are so slim that its just like guaranteed profit for the stores. It costs them nothing to keep up with. I forget the numbers, but extended warranty sales are a big earner for electronics stores...
Its a personal choice, though.

Usually I don't get them but this is the second camera I needed to take in for repairs. I needed to replace the shutter release button on an advanced P&S. The warranty also covered the lenses for 4 years even if I dropped them. This repair alone makes the cost a break even for me.
