Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall

We've done both, and I prefer Akershus hands down for both the food and for the character interactions. CRT was very sweet and special, and I think everybody should try it once, but the food did not impress me and the princesses, while kind, were pretty rushed.

The food at Akershus, on the other hand, was quite tasty. I liked the cold buffet to start, and then the ability to order an entree off the menu. I realize that I could have ordered another entree after finishing my first, but was quite full and didn't need more food. The dessert plate at Akershus was also excellent. I was a bit dubious about the pastry with the cheese filling, but it was delicious!

The princesses at Akershus were also very sweet and it felt like they took extra time with my DD5 and DS2. Our family's picture at Akershus also came out a lot better than the one at CRT, although that's largely luck of the draw.

As a further endorsement, for our upcoming trip, DD5 asked to go back to Akershus and said that she didn't feel a need to eat at CRT again. She is princess-crazed, so to skip CRT was not an insignificant choice (and she could have chosen to eat at both; as my user name implies, she is my princess and I'll take her anywhere she wants to go).

Just booked Akerhaus for me and my husband for an 8:15am ADR, we then have the Segway tour at 9:30am (meet at Innoventions). Do you think this is possible or should I cancel this ressie?

You may be able to make it - your biggest challenge is the service. We have eaten here for breakfast several times. The service first thing in the morning can be a little slow while they get everybody through the picture line and seated. With three kids, we allow at least an hour for a typical character meal; but that includes posing for pictures and getting autographs. I would allow at least 10 minutes to get from Norway to Innoventions.

Thanks, at least we will just be adults, so we can run if we need to. Going to try another suggestion I have heard about asking for the check the first time the waitress/waiter appears, that way we hopefully won't have to wait for it.

I have a question, which I know has been answered before, but I never paid attention to it because it didn't apply to me.

My understadning is that for CRT, CP or Akershus you can enter the park early if you have breakfast reservations and don't need a park ticket. After your meal, if the park has since opened, how do get out of the restaurant without entering the park? I know I didn't word that well, but I think you understand.

Trust me, I'M NOT trying to sneak into the park, it's just that I've been thinking about the question and now it's driving me crazy. And, it just occurred to me that maybe I'm wrong , maybe you do need to have a park ticket to get to breakfast?

That is unfortunately how it is to dine anywhere in the parks. You need to have a valid park ticket to get in. With this one being at EPCOT the land will be open before the world showcase anyway and therefore you will be entering through an already open park. You also need to remember if you are at MK and want to eat at another park you need a park hopper:) Hope this helps!

Yes you will see little girls dining in their Princess Costumes, however my 2 princess:princess: are not one of those girls. I am like you and don't want to be lugging around 2 puffy dresses with me for the day since when we eat there we always get breakfast ADRs for before the park opens. Instead my girls like to wear one of those plastic tiaras that you can buy either at the parks or at the Disney Store. That way there, they still feel like they are apart of the Princess atmosphere while being comfortable in their own clothes too.

My thoughts exactly.

I have 2 dd's--11 and 8. My 11 y/o is a huge Belle fan and my 8 y/o is a huge Cinderella fan. I know that we will get Belle at the entrance but will Cindy be there also? We will probably do breakfast but will do which ever to see Cindy.

We ate at Akershus for lunch on 5/10 and Cinderella was there along with Aurora, Snow White and Ariel (with Belle greeting people as they came in).

Do people mainly go to this for the princess interaction, or do some people come for the food? I was just wondering, because I was considering going as a single guy for the Norwegian buffet, but it might be weird to see a 25 year old guy in a room full of little girls and princess characters.

I went this past September with 2 other guys, and will be going by myself this October. I'm apparently in the minority of people who like the Norwegian food they served. I had the Kjottkake and it was quite good (even tho it was mainly just Swedish meatballs). Plus the smoked salmon on the koltbord was really good as well.

We've also done both and prefer Norway, the characters do spend more time at the tables and the price is better.
However, the castle experience is pretty cool, but once we did it, won't probably again for a few years.

This photo is PRECIOUS!

We were just there the first week of May and did breakfast at Askerhus and dinner at CRT. I actually felt like the princesses took more time at CRT but I didn't love the food. Askerhus was our least favourite breakfast as far as the food at all our character breakfasts (we also did Tusker House, Crystal Palace, and Hollywood & Vine). Askerhus just didn't have as many options.

We just changed a breakfast reservation to dinner because we were told by CM that breakfast would not be princesses; but different characters. FYI.

Our trip is planned for June 5-10.

Has anyone else been told this or heard this?

Not doubting you were told that, Nana, just wondering since phone CMs are often unreliable.

That would be a pretty MAJOR change since the whole experience there is billed as "Princess Storybook Dining". That's gotta be a misunderstanding on the CM's part.

BTW - if they (CM) weren't mistaken then I will be totally freaking out because our res is for June 7th and we bought a dress and everything for my DD3 to wear - it'll be her first Princess experience.

We love lunch at Akershus. The experience is wonderful as it's nice and quiet, lovely atmosphere and we love the cold buffet. My kids love deli meat and fresh fruit so it suits us nicely.
