when you take the boat over to the MK, is the monorail station located to left when you get off the boat from Wilderness Lodge? Does that monorail take you to Epcot? If I choose the WL, and we love Narcoosees, could we take the boat to MK then take a monorail ride over to GF?:confused3

Yes, when you exit the boat dock at the MK the monorail ramp is just to the left of you with the park entrance directly in front of you so you could hop on it there. You can also take a boat from WL to the Contemporary Resort and catch the resort monorail right there. I haven't done that so don't know which way would be faster. The monorail won't go directly to Epcot from the MK, it stops at the TTC where you need to change if you are going to Epcot or stay on the resort monorail to go to the GF.

your a genius beebee, thank you! We have ressies at the contemp too, didnt know you could take the boat there from WL.:cool1::cool1::worship:

We just take the first boat wether MK or CR to get monorail. However- we tried it one trip, taking boat to CR, getting monorail, changing at TTC for Epcot monorail, and taking the direct bus from WL to Epcot was faster. We did it just for fun to see!
We love using the boat to MK, then hoping on the resort boats to GF & Poly for our dinner ADRs. Or the boat to CR for dinner. Very handy.

My guess would be that it would be faster to go to MK and then to EPCOT...I could be wrong, but I always feel like I have to wait longer on the resort monorail. Either way you do it, allow plenty of time b/c we returned from EPCOT this one way evening and even with the long bus line, my sister and BIL who took the bus beat us back to WL....just curious as to why you wouldn't just take the EPCOT bus? I definitely think that would be the fastest way to go.

Agree -- as they say, getting there is half the fun...

we have to wait for a handicapped accessible bus for my brother and my husband doesnt do buses, lol:rotfl2: Don't ask:rotfl2:! lol

I believe you'll have to use the boat to MK only then. The boat to Contemporary (and Fort Wilderness) are the small ones and I can't see how they could be handicapped accessible.

I agree with not taking the bus to Epcot because the bus stop is SO far away from the entrance. The monorail brings you right to the front door.

The bus to Epcot from WL is faster than doing the monorail jig for sure, but we did go the monorail route once just for fun. It's like a ride, especially with kids. :). I agree with a PP who said the FW/CR boat is the smaller boat with steps to get on, so not wheelchair or stroller friendly. But every other boat or so to MK is the larger ferry style one that can be rolled onto.

Actually, many of the bus rides from WL to various parks went to pickup at GF so you could check that and it would be faster but that means getting your brother and DH on a bus.

You can take a boat directly from WL to Fort Wilderness too right? If you wanted to do the Hoop Dee Doo Dinner Show.

We will go with WL as our first deluxe choice, taking the big boat to MK will be just fine with us, better than a bus any day, regardless of the time...I don't take buses here at home, I can't imagine doing them again with all the tired little kiddies on them at night...at least the boat has fresh air, lol:rotfl: This is an adult trip, we have 10 days, we are in NO hurry for ANYTHING, we were there for 9 days in 2009, so we take it in stride, up for breakfast at 8ish then parks, lunch at 1pm and relax at the resort/pool from 1ish-6ish...then 7pm dinner/parks/DTD/Boardwalk stroll....:cool1:

There is a boat from WL that goes between CR and FtW. Half the day it goes from WL to CR to FTW. The other half the day if goes from WL to FtW to CR.

Yes, but you have to be able to walk onto it, down a couple of steps. If someone in your party needs to use a wheelchair or scooter, you can't use the boat.

This page has photos of the boats. http://www.wdwinfo.com/transportation/water.htm

The smaller blue boat with the blue canopy is the kind that goes between Contemporary, WL and Fort Wilderness. The larger Friendship boat runs to the MK directly from Wilderness Lodge.

Actually they changed this a while back. Now one blue flag boat goes wl-cr-fw and the other wl-fw-cr. They seem to meet each time at the CR. So ask the driver of the boat which stop is next.

There are so many ways to get to GF from the WL.

We found the most direct is via bus. The Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios buses stop at GF on the way. (Or at least it worked that way last month).
