A Disney Dream Come True - Nov/Dec TR ~ Oct10 Another TR :)

Great Epcot day...weather looks good, everyone was happy and you tried some new things (even if they ended up not being new favourites) :thumbsup2

I've lost track...can you tell me what day of the week this was? I'm trying to get a sense from all your awesome pictures of what the crowds are like each day for our next trip as it will be the same time.

Remy was very cute - how was the atmosphere at CdF? I have in my mind that the kids wouldn't really enjoy it but you seemed to all have a good time.

I'll remember that spot in Canada for Illuminations as we did not get a good view of it last time :sad1:

Hello! So sorry for the late reply  I PROMISE to have an update done here later tonight for our day 8! For those that followed my PTR, this was the day that I had to scramble to make a new ressie after Kouzina closed for refurbishment! :headache:

This Epcot day was Day 7 on Friday, December the 3rd. It was an extra magic hours day and the park was open until 12:30am!! :woohoo:

Remy was very cute and very realistic! Honestly, if it weren't for Remy, Chefs de France wouldn't really have been on our radar as a place to take the kids to. That being said, we did enjoy ourselves. If you go, make sure to time your reservation so that you're there when he comes out to greet guests. It was really fun too that we were seated along the path where the characters come in and out of. :thumbsup2

The top of the stairs in Canada was a great view. Hopefully no one tries to plunk their kid in front of you. ;)

That spot from the Canada steps looks great!!! I'll have to keep that one in mind. :thumbsup2

Sorry about the rude encounter with the other family there though, I laughed out loud at what your DH did!

It is a great view, we'll definately try that again. I love that George did that... I wouldn't have the chutzpah to do that myself but it was a lot of fun to watch him do it! :rotfl:

***I was a little hasty promising an update tonight :guilty:  :worried: I forgot it was Survivor night and I do a recap email for the pool I help run AND it's Game 7 on a few NHL playoff games tonight so.........

TOMORROW for absolute sure ..... cross my heart!

Day 8 - Saturday, December 4th
Magic Kingdom (9am to Midnight), Boardwalk, Captain's Grille, Beaches and Cream
*Christmas Parade Taping Day*
Weather: High of 70, Low of 37
What we wore: Pants, t-shirts and hoodies

Coming off of a late night, fun filled day at Epcot, we had no breakfast reservations and knew we could sleep in - hurray!! Sleep in we DID and though my time stamps were off on my photos, I'm pretty sure we didn't roll into Magic Kingdom until around 11am. :scared1:

We had no idea what to expect crowd wise as today was the scheduled taping of the Christmas Day Parade. When planning the trip I hadn't known it was going to be that day, but digging into it a bit more, some things I read said to avoid MK at all costs, and others said to go because most people would be staying away. :confused3 So in the end, I kept it and the cool factor of watching the parade on Christmas morning knowing that we were there that day was awesome. :thumbsup2

I'd read that we would be diverted away from Main Street upon entering the park and would go behind the scenes to Tomorrowland - another cool factor! Our plan for the day was just to see how it went. We'd go about our day as if it was any other but if we got the chance to see a performance here or there, or even a snippet of the parade itself - bonus!

Heading in, our timing was fantastic and guess who was just coming out to greet guests? :hyper:

What a great start! We noted that Main Street wasn't blocked off after all but hopped right onto the WDW Railroad with plans to head first to Demetri's favorite ride. I snapped a picture of the crowds still coming in.....

2010_1204Misc0182.jpg

What were we in for?? Well someone wasn't particularly worried.....

2010_1204Misc0184.jpg

Jumping off in Frontierland, it was straight to Splash Mountain.....

2010_1204Misc0186.jpg

2010_1204Misc0189.jpg

.... and then a hop, skip and a jump to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, also known as to my family..... the CRAZY train!

2010_1204Misc0191.jpg

All passengers securely fastened.....

2010_1204Misc0192.jpg

I thought I'd have a little fun on this particular ride seeing as how I was in the back and all..... I flipped my camera setting to video and recorded the ride. I absolutely love how halfway thru as we're passing the ferry boat we all feverishly started waving at everyone. :rotfl:

Click to play!

At this point we were pretty hungry having skipped breakfast and headed over to the Pickle Barrel for lunch. Standard fare was eagerly consumed....

.... and straight after we made our first attempt to meet Tiana and Naveen.

2010_1204Misc0196.jpg

Whoops! Actually they were coming back out about 15 min later so with a small crowd ahead of us, I sent Alex and Kathryn off by themselves while the rest of us waited. George took the kiddies off to a nearby bench and I was the poor sod who was left behind to stand in the line. Spouses were breaking out regularly to go grab drinks and snacks while someone stayed behind and a Dad from the family in front of me took drink orders from his crew. I laughed and piped in that I'd take a Diet Coke and with a chuckle, off he went. Wouldn't you know it - he comes back and hands out his purchases and hands me a Diet Coke!! I was shocked and a little embarrassed insisting I'd only been kidding, he didn't really have to give me the Diet Coke but with a laugh he said it was his treat. A few more "are you sure?" 's and I thanked him profusely for the drink, George laughing at me from the bench.

Tiana and Naveen came back and we had the most entertaining meet with them. Demetri thought they were absolutely hilarious and Ariana was in heaven.

These two are definately worth waiting for to see!

Coming up next.... Pixie Dust!

There must be werid lighting at that meet and greet. I noticed my pictures have a red hue to a lot of them. Especially on Tianna. I noticed yours does too.
So far it looks like a great day. I hope the crowds didn't get in your way at all.

I didn't notice that before, you're right, there is a purple-ish hue to everything. Even the flowers and Christmas decorations are beautiful shades of purple!

I think hopping on the train first off was definately the way to go. We'd not yet run into any major crowds.

Great start to the day, I can't wait to see if there are large crowds. I would have avoided it :scared1:

It was a risky decision to stick with MK this day but I really wanted to be there for the taping!

Looks like Your MK day was off to a great start, I love the pictures with Tiana and Naveen.

The diet coke story made me laugh, sometimes you meet really amazing people in Disney.

Can't wait to hear more:goodvibes

It's true! For every knob you run into, there are twenty more who are absolutely fabulous. I think I'm going to make a special effort on every day of every trip from now on that I take to do something random and special for someone else. A pay it forward challenge!

ooooo I know someone you can do random nice things for on your next trip :hyper:

I'd go again only if I took Julie's advice and had those alcoholic slushies.

;) :rotfl: oh well....at least you can say you did it.

Ugh, AGREED! We all loved the original Journey into Imagination. Gotta love "One Little Spark" and the Dream Finder.

Tracy, trust us, the original version was a million times better than the one now. It's too bad you never got to experience it. I do have to say I am glad they added Figment again and the ending is kind of cute. But yeah, like mousescrapper said, they shouldn't have messed with it.

hey maybe they will refub it back to the orginal version like they are doing w/ the Tiki Bird room

Tracey sorry the begining of your EP day was just eh w/ the new things...but looks like you had a lovely evening stroll around World Showcase :thumbsup2

also the pix of Demetri sitting on his loading number for TT is just so cute :goodvibes

Your MK day is shaping up pretty good too...curious to see what else you see and do. Love LOVE the Diet Coke story that is great and so glad you enjoyed Tiana and Naveen, bummed i didn't see them in Jan.

Wow what a great start to your day. And already two character meets :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 All the PP pics are GREAT!

Very cool on the diet coke

lol funny how well you know me in such a short period of time :lmao:

And I really don't mind random acts of kindness :wizard:

Hee hee, that's my super power. I usually have this weird ability to pick up on people's personalities. Seriously though, wouldn't that be fun to find something new and different each day to do?

;) :rotfl: oh well....at least you can say you did it.

Exactly! :rotfl:

From what I hear, that would be a great idea.

The meet was a bust but I'm glad to have had that time to myself to wander WS. Everything was so pretty all lit up and with small decorations here and there.

We got more done than I thought we would..... :thumbsup2

Very cool on the diet coke

We had a terrific start to the day. We'd had a fun conversation with another family on the bus from Pop to MK, all of us deciding what we would do first. Demetri had them convinced to go on Splash first instead of Space Mountain - he was very persuasive! :rotfl:

The last time I was there around Christmas was in 2008 and all your pictures of the decorations have me wanting to take my mom there then so she can see them. It looks like you were getting a lot done without any crowds so far.

Your Thunder Mountain video was awesome! I can't wait to show River when he gets up tomorrow!

We didn't get to meet Tiana because her line was always to long. So all my pictures of her have other peoples children in them:laughing:

I can't wait to see how the rest of your day goes.
