We live in Pittsburgh (I posted this before) and we are taking advantage of the Giant Eagle Fuel perks program by getting 20 cents off per gallon of gas with every $50 we spend at disney(including the entire package giving us $1200 free gasoline for the summer on top of FD) by buying Disney Gift cards, this allows us to stack discounts..... We are willing to have a few back up resorts ready..we will be happy with Mods and above... BCV or BWV are our first choices for 8 nights but if we do Mods, we will do 9 nights for less money on DXDP..would you do the 9 nights @ CSR for less money than 8 nights at BCV or BWV? (keep in mind we are going to see Harry Potter for 2 days while we are there but still staying on Disney property...We will be eating our breakfast and dinners at Disney on Universal days.............

* if you book the Disney Visa, it says you must pay the entire trip with your Disney Visa, not allowing us to use our Disney Gift cards therefore not getting $1200 of free gasoline for the 5 us this summer..so I am flexible!!! I am sure I will get one of the 7 choices of resorts I like..........

How much in Disney gift cards are you buying? You would have to buy $10,000 in gift cards to get $1,200 in free gas. You also have to get 30 gallons at each fill up to get the maximum benefit. Unless you have a large gas tank, you will need to invest in som 5 gallon gas cans. The gas perks expire in a few months so you would have to use them up before they expire. You may want to check with Giant Eagle to see how long they are doing the $0.20 for each $50 you spend.

that was the total of gas pre free dining...so its gonna be less free gas, but less gift cards to buy too I am basing the free gas on the two families going..myself and hubby in one room, mom/dad/bro in the other ....this includes GC for Southwest airfares too, got 20 cents per gallon on $1257 just for that...it comes out roughly $1000 in free gas using $4 a gallon for an estimate... for the entire trip, flights included. thanks for the heads up though and I am well aware of the rules with the giant eagle perks........been taking advantage for a long time, gotta get savings somewhere, right? I bought another $1000 2 nights ago the promo was still 20 cents off per gallon, now its back to 10cents off per gallon so I wait till it goes to 20 cents a gallon again.. It will go back to 20cents a gallon off for mothers day week....unfortunately we use that much gas....and we have 3 gas cans we have a summer home on lake chautauqua in NY and drive 380 miles r/t quite often, especially spring/summer....and we have 2 boats and 2 waverunners that unfortunately require gasoline...so, that is NOT alot of gas for us at all. our Yukon has a 27 gallon tank....so each fill we only have to use one gas can for the extra and our other vehichle is smaller and only requires 13 gallons in the tank so we have to use 3 gas cans for that fill! You have 90 days to use the fuel perks, that is nothing for us!! thanks for the heads up though....it could be less beneficial for those that don't use the gas perks...my mom doesnt so she is letting me have hers and I will throw a couple bucks her way towards her trip!! Oh, and we are using a $200 Disney GC just for tips and we bought Universal Studio GC from giant eagle for those tickets, so thats where the $1200 in free gasoline comes out to when you add that in..... all in all, it saves me a lot more money doing FD general public vs. having to use the Disney Visa.....and pay it off that way......besides, all credit cards have zero balances, want to keep it that way...

I think how she meant the program worked got lost in translation here - I think under her figures, she gets $0.20 off the price of a gallon at fillups (either for a certain number of fillups or for a certain span of time, say 90 days) for each $50 she spends. So: $50 = .20/gal discount, $100 = .40 discount, up to eventually 4.00 (or more) discount, assuming the promo isn't capped.

I'm pretty sure you only have to put the deposit on your DV. I'd call and see if you can book now using your DV for the deposit and then pay the balance using the GCs.

theres a few ways to do the math, your doing it wrong..

for example lets just say my mothers trip and mine is combined to = $8000...my mother's paying the whole total...

I have till July to pay off the trip using disney gift cards...We are using disney gift cards for every aspect of the trip including tips/deposit/payments etc... So lets just say I go to the Giant Eagle grocery store and buy $8000 dollars worth of gift cards..with the promo, I would get .20cents off per gallon of gas for every $50 dollars I spent.. 8000/50=160....I would of spent $50x 160 times meaning I get .20cents off 160 times...when I leave the store I have $32 off per gallon of gas to use in 3 months...gas is approx $4 per gallon so that breaks down to 8 tanks of gas for free, one tank is 30 gallons, at $4 a gallon that is $120 per tank x 8= $960 in free gas...there is not limit on the amount of discount off gas you can accumulate, the only limit is 30 gallons per fill and the remainder of the $32 off per gallson of gas remains on my card to use for the next fills or it until it expires in 3 months from purchase..Im staggering paying off the trip with gift cards that way the free gas discount will stretch into Sept/early Oct..., you have 90 days (3 months to use the discount from the time you buy the gift cards)) So, yes, we will be getting $960 in free gas on top of the FD discount.....I charge the disney gift cards on my disney visa and get rewards too, lol.
Its confusing I know....but we are use to it in Pittsburgh, they have gift cards for EVERYTHING...I am even using the universal gift cards to buy universal tickets....
its not for everyone and its easy for me....its well worth it for me, and we use a lot of gas, especially in the summer, we have 2 boats and 2 waverunners and a summer home that is in NY so we drive 380 miles R/T at least once a week.....so we use it up fast...



thanks for caring though..........I read a post that someone read my post and had $1000 left to pay on her trip so she went to Giant Eagle and bought gift cards for $1000, paid off her trip and got a free tank of gas, $120 just for that....every bit helps and its for that reason I post this, so others can save money if its possible, glad it helped that poster out....

downfall: your stuck with disney gift cards if your trip is canceled but they dont expire and no fees..so if we had to rebook, we would use them and lock them up in the safe so we dont lose them, lol........

Here is my only concern with this regarding something I read at the pump the other day. Now this one one grocery store that works with one gas station for the discount. Their's is for every $50 you get .$.05 off per gallon (cheesy compared to yours) but on the sign it said that all money on the card toward gas would be used at the time of fillup and they expire the end of the next month. So based on that if you had $21 off and gas was $4 then it would wipe out all $21 which sucks.

Sounds like yours is a much better program

I didn't book it. My dates are too early for the deal and I already have my tickets anyway plus I'm staying Deluxe and already have a room discount so this just wouldn't be the best deal for me regardless. Now if this came out for December I'd have to think about it.

Chase's site would be more accurate about the requirements than mousemiser. Chase is who negotiated the requirements with Disney. They'd have the details.

I'd personally call and book it now but since you do have a list of resorts you'd be happy with I'm sure you'll be fine waiting until Monday. Personally, I hate waiting on hold and typically the hold times when free dining is released are LONG so no way would I want to call Monday when I could call now. But, that's just me. Everybody has their own ways of doing things and if you're more comfortable calling Monday then go for it! I'm sure you'll get something you'll be happy with on Monday. You're certainly very open with your options.

I have been to NH but I like Maine best....Colorado and Maine would be my choice to live if I could change but kiddie is settled here, jobs here, etc......I really don't like Pittsburgh, DH loves the Steelers but Pittsburgh just isn't that great for us...we do have a home up on Lake Chautauqua NY, we LOVE it there, so we go often, all year round.......wish I could get you some fuel perks, cause you sound like a toughie...I am scared!! lol but I am a RN, so I know first aid, lmao
