can we leave our bags at the hotel on the first day?

we are picking flights and we may be getting into MCO by 9 am.

will we be able to use DME and can we leave our bags at the hotel while we go out to a park that day? i assume the room will not be ready and we don't want to waste time.

Yes, we have done this many times. In fact, they will make sure that your bags are all delivered to your room.

We do this all the time. We leave whatever bags we are not taking with us to the parks with Bell Services at the resort and go have fun at the parks.

To be clear, if you put the yellow DME tags on your bags and let DME handle them for, then the bags will be delivered to your room whether or not you are in the room. If you collect your bags at the airport and bring them on the bus yourself, then you can leave them with bell services and call for them when you are in the room, a tip is customary. Cary ons can be left with bell services and called for delivery or picked up when you get back, tips are appropriate if delivered.
