Military Discount Tickets

My MIL has the dependent card she needs to buy tickets as her husband is retired from the Navy. Can she buy 2 of the $138 tickets for herself? We need 6 day hoppers and it is cheaper for her to buy 2 and use 6 of the 8 days than to buy a 6 day hopper. Also, can she buy her remaining 4 tickets for 2 people so it would be cheaper for those 2 people? She is traveling with our family so she will be there to activate them with us. We have myself, my husband, 2 children and her. We were going to get YES tickets but they have changed the policy so that only the adult with the child in the class can get discounted tickets. So we thought about getting YES for one child and adult then the military tickets for the rest of us if we can use 2 per person.

Also, does my MIL have to be the first person listed on the reservation for our hotel to get the military discount? She is on the reservation buy my name if first.

Thanks!

The eligible military member, or spouse, can purchase up to six of the $138 Military Promo ticket. And since you all are traveling together as long as the military member, or spouse, is there to activate them the first time that they are used you should be fine. These tickets expire Oct. 1, 2011 so hopefully your trip is before that date.

As far as I know about the resort discount the military member has to be the person listed as the primary on the reservation. The last time we used the military resort discount we could have booked up to three rooms with the discount but that might have changed. You might want to call CRO to verify the resort discount for all of your rooms.

Thanks, I called to update the primary person on the reservation and their system was down and she could not tell me if I needed to have her as primary or not. I figure it is easier to call now and get this done then to have any problems at check in. We go in September so we are good on the dates for tickets as long as each of us can have multiple ones.

Thanks for your help!

Also, there is a limit of five tickets that may be activated by a spouse. The service member must be present to allow activation of six tickets.

If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in this Forum, especially Post #17, you can get a lot more information. An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature.

Expire Oct 1 does it mean have finish all the days on the ticket that date? or can still use them after Oct 1 until all the days are used/ 14 days after Oct 1?? Anyone know the answer??

From what I have read and based on the wording that is on the Shades of Green website the tickets expire and cannot be used after Oct. 1, 2011 regardless of how many days you may have left on the tickets.

At Midnight on October 1 any remaining Military Salute tickets turn into pumpkins and become worthless.

Today on the Disney parks blog they announced that they would be extending the military discount through September 2012. I'm not sure exactly what that means because it wasn't exactly explained. I'm planning on calling.

You are the ticket expert and I have a ticket question, if you don't mind please.

If we (military family) pull our camper down to Fort wilderness and plan on staying at least two weeks. We want to take our time and enjoy the parks but also enjoy the campground. (Last time we went we overflowed from SOG to the POP and bought our tickets through the shades of green.)

If we saved us a little money by just buying, lets say, a 6 or 7 days ticket package, when do they actually expire. I know that they don't start until you activate them but can you make the tickets stretch out the time? Like go to park one day, stay at room one day, etc.

Thanks

Absolutely. You don't have to buy a ticket for the length of your stay.

Tickets are good for up to 14 days after you first activate them.

ooh, thanks for posting this.

We are eligible for these tickets, but are not arriving at Disney until October 8th this year and were worried they would not have a discount available.

Is the military 4 day ticket for $138 good for 14 days from the first use as long as it is used before the special ends?

The 14 day rule does not apply to the military 138 ticket. For the present promotion that runs until Sept 30th 2011, that is the end of usage.

So............you could use a couple of days in May and then return in August to use up your last 2 days.

Thanks for the quick response. We are going to be in Orlando for 14 days in June and we didn't want to have to go to Disney 4 days in a row. We tried that before and the kids were exhausted by day 3. This then allows us to pace ourselves and go when they want to go and do something else on the days they want to sleep in.
Wonderful. Thanks again.

Well, that's just blasphemy.

I am leaving in 2 weeks for a girls trip and one of the girls purchased our park tickets with her military discount. She told us today that she has some family medical issues come up and may not be able to go. Will we still be able to use these tickets if she isn't there? She is the only one with a military id.

Unfortunately the answer is no. The person with the military ID has to activate the tickets at a guest service window at the parks.
