Sunday, March 27, 2011 cont'd (part 4)
After our successful morning of rides, all of our walking around was making us hungry! And where did we choose to eat lunch? Cosmic Ray's of course! It seemed like we beat the lunch crowd so we got our food pretty quickly and found a table near the window so we had a nice view of Cinderella Castle. Nothing beats it. As we were eating we witnessed something strange...this family of 4 came in (they had two younger kids) and one of the kids was not happy about something. The mother then got really upset and started yelling at the kid, and then stormed off. Poor kid, getting yelled at in Disney World. I don't know what the mother's problem was. Anyway, moving on...
When we were done with our lunch of cheeseburgers and chicken sandwiches, you know we had to stop by the Rapunzel meet and greet area again, hoping that MAYBE the line had gone down. YEAH RIGHT! I guess it was probably around noon by that time so I asked the attendant what time they were waiting for. She said 2:15. I thought I must've heard her wrong because 2:15 was two hours away! Nope, no misunderstanding there. So no Rapunzel for us that day.
The weird thing about getting so much stuff done so quickly was that we were kind of like, "OK, what do we do now?!" After all, we had only been at the park for about 4 hours. It just felt wrong to leave shortly after noon! So, since we were still near Tomorrowland we decided to go take a nice relaxing ride on the People Mover. We were also able to snag some fastpasses for Buzz Lightyear (the time was only about an hour out) before heading over to the Laugh Floor. It said there was a 20 minute wait but we must've had good timing that day because we literally walked right into the preshow area. Awesome! The show itself was hilarious as always. One of the best parts was when they chose an audience member to put her fingers up by her head and act like they were antennae...well, I guess she didn't understand English too well because it took her forever to finally figure out what to do. They tried to get her son to do it and then eventually panned out to the whole area around her until she got the idea. LOL!
When the show was over we saw that Buzz Lightyear was out doing meet and greets. We still had some time to kill before we could use our fastpasses so we waited. When it was our turn, I got to dance with Buzz. I have a picture but I sort of look like I dork so I'll just share the boring one instead. Some other lady in line said how he was a flirt or something. hehe
So, we said good-bye to Buzz and went to battle Zurg. I kind of rocked that time. Not quite as good as maxing out but I think this is my personal best, and I made it to a new rank (though I don't remember exactly what it was...).
In the gift shop we found a Lotso bear that Claire really wanted to get. She settled for a picture instead. And yes, he did really smell like strawberries! Yum.
By that time we figured we had gotten off to a great start and decided to head out. We probably could've stayed because the park just was not crowded at all! In fact, here's what Main Street looked like when we left:
We also checked out the attraction board and I think the longest wait was an hour for BTMRR or something. Definitely not bad. We did make a quick (or not so quick) stop in the Emporium where I bought an Animation vinylmation combo pack. Here's what I ended up with:
The blind box comes with the Simba topper so I knew about this one:
And my mystery one was...
NAVEEN!!! Love Princess and the Frog!
Even though we were leaving the MK, we were not ready to go back to the resort! I gave Claire two ideas of what we could do next:
1.) take one of the boats to the Wilderness Lodge since she's never seen it before
or
2.) take the monorail to the Polynesian
Guess what she chose?
Yep, the Polynesian! So we made our way to the resort monorail station. Boy do I miss the days of using that all the time.
A nice view of the Grand Floridian...
After brief stops at the Contemporary and TTC, we finally arrived at our destination. Good old Polynesian welcome...
I always get nostalgic making that walk from the monorail platform into the Great Ceremonial House. Just love it. And really, what is better than seeing this in the lobby?!
Love all the flowers/plants...so pretty!
We made our way outside to explore and relive our past trips. The only bad thing about going to visit the Polynesian is that even though we've been fortunate enough to stay there several times, I still get jealous of everyone who IS there. Not fair! If only they had Vacation Club there...that would rock.
A few pictures from our stroll around:
Captain Cook's. We'd always grab lunch from here on our arrival day and I remember a couple times when we'd go eat it by the pool while we waited for our room.
I don't think we ever stayed in Samoa.
Thought this flower was so pretty. The wall behind it is actually where the elliptical pool is. We would swim there all the time since it wasn't as busy as the main pool.
HEAVEN!!!
The new volcano pool. Well, not so new anymore but on one of our first trips it wasn't there yet! haha
Claire took this one which I kind of love.
And some more of the wonderful sights from the resort:
Oh how I miss these longhouses!
Not wanting to leave we slowly made our way back to the GCH to get the monorail back to the MK. Farewell, Polynesian! We miss you!
Here comes the monorail!
Yeah, I'm still hoping there's some way my sister can get us a CM discount to stay there. That's how bad I miss it. As much as I love DVC, the Polynesian will always have a special place in my heart since many of my earliest Disney memories are from there. We just love it!
up next: A surprise?! And the best safari EVER!!!
(for those of you who I'm friends with on facebook, you may already know what I'm talking about...so don't spoil it!!!! hehe)
