Hi Folks,

we have narrowed our officents for wedding on May the 4th (be with you lol) to : Rev Randal Miller, Rev Jack Day and Ron Rosensweig. All have replied and seem lovely. We are not religious therefore want a non religious ceremony and one that can be customised.

Any advice would be much appreciated!!

We loved Rev Jack Day - he was so sweet and great to deal with. We are alo non-religious and we wrote a custom ceremony, using some of the suggested materials that he had sent...he did a great job on it. Loved him like crazy. There is a bit of footage of him in our sneak peek video, it's linked from page one of my PJ.

Thanks so much for this!! I looked at your PJ / TR and it looks amazing!!! We are getting married at SBP and it has not hit me at all yet.

We just had our wedding on 12/03 and Ron Rosenzweig was our officiant. We also wanted a non-religious ceremony and he delivered on it. He was very professional, even doing a run through with my nervous son (he was the best man) He came into the bride's vestibule to talk to me about what to expect during the ceremony and made me feel very at ease. He was even going to the ceremony at the last minute if I had wanted to.

Forgot to add that everything about the ceremony was customizable. He even sends to you different ceremony components that you can add, change, delete...whatever you want.

He is highly recommended from us. :thumbsup2

we are using rev. miller. what can i say, i liked his face, saw a PJ or two early on and had DF call and they had a texas connection of some sort! he does ask about what type of ceremony you want, we are going towards the non-religious side of things. i have't talked to him yet, but am looking forward to working with him!

We are using Ron, DH picked him from a couple recommended by our planner. So far he has been wonderful to work with and we can't wait for our big day.

We also didn't want anything specially religious and he has been great with the ceremony, etc.:thumbsup2

We had Rev. Day and loved him. We got so many compliments on how beautiful the ceremony was. We had taken a few of his sample ceremonies and combined them to make it our own. He definitely did have some non-religious examples. He is really just the sweetest man and I highly recommend him.

We used Rev. Miller for our vow renewal in October and were very happy. He is very nice and made us feel comfortable. He does ask on the planning sheet what kind of service you want and he sent a draft about a week beforehand - so you will get a chance to see what will be included. Good luck!:goodvibes

wow, thanks so much everyone! so much to think about im not sure who im leaning towards now....

Thanks a lot - I was happy with every part of our wedding...location, officiant, food....basically wouldn't change a thing!

My husband and I used Ron. I was not impressed. Maybe it was just a fluke but he was not very cooperative with customizing. We wanted to have a sand ceremony, he was against it and he refused to do it at first, we wanted a memorial candle and he was against that as well. He not only did not impress me with the fact that he read from a paper with a monotone voice but he stepped on my dress and left a shoe print. Right before I was supposed to walk down the aisle. He was a nice guy I just felt that he wasnt the right choice for us I guess.

I used Rev. Miller. He was okay, but not super. He kept trying to reassure my DH that he could call day or night if he was having second thoughts. It was a sweet gesture, but he mentioned it over and over and over... After about the 8th time, I was starting to take offense. I mean, do I look THAT undesirable as a wife?! Years later, my DH will still joke about the second thoughts the Rev. Miller seemed to think he should have.

Other then that he was alright. He seemed taken aback when we wanted to write our own ceremony, even though I had said we would be doing so from the first time I contacted him. He also stumbled through some words the day of, suggesting he hadn't really read it much before. But all in all, it was okay.

We used Jack Day for our wedding last month and he was beyond fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about him. He was sweet and genuine and I felt like we became family at the rehearsal. He seemed to really care about us and making our day special.

I'll admit though I had my doubts at first. We spoke almost a dozen times before the wedding and each time he was calling to "introduce" himself and thank us for allowing him to be a part of our day. Once he even called me three times in the same day! The first time was at 5:00 and he apologized for calling so late. Then he called back at 7:00 and again after 8:00. My husband and I had a good laugh about that. But honestly, on our wedding day none of that mattered. He did a great job and was completely in the moment. He also allowed me to customize our ceremony and I added in as many Catholic elements as I could to appease our parents (who thought we should be married in a church).

Highly recommend Jack Day!

Hooray! We have Jack Day too and we can't wait! I am the same as you, we didn't customize any vows at all except for a few words with the non-religious vows and I couldn't get through it without tearing up. I talked to him on the phone and he is just the cutest thing!!

We have scheduled Rev. Jack Day and I love him. I was able to meet him when I went for our first site visit. He is a sweet old man and I can tell through our converstations that he is going to be absolutely amazing!

I haven't really heard bad things about any of the officiants on this board, so no matter who you choose, you have a good chance of being happy with your choice. My DH and I used Rev. Jack Day, and he was more amazing than I possibly could have asked for! The one thing that made me want to comment here is your comment about not being religious. My DH and I are not religious either, so I didn't want our ceremony to be religious. I discussed this with Rev Jack. He sent us some sample ceremonies, and let us completely customize it. We asked him to emphasize love, not religion, and he did a beautiful job! He is amazing. It was the most beautiful ceremony I have ever heard, and he definitely respected our wishes to not have a religious ceremony. I would 100% recommend Rev. Jack!

thanks so much! the email conversations we have had have been lovely. only a week to go now!!!!!!!!!!

I was wondering if your ceremonies didn't mention God in them either with Rev. Jack Day. This is what I am looking for and I was curious if that would be an option with him. Thanks! :)
