A Hop, NO Skip, and Many Mishaps to a Disney Dream!

Yikes on the having a hard time getting around.

Glad you found your hotel and the restaurant safely. Looks like you and Claire were having a nice time outside the restaurant, can't wait to see how the rest of your evening pans out.

We made it and thats all that mattered at the time!! Dad seems to get stressed over really dumb stuff.

Nice update. We've done that in the past...we'll get directions from the airport and not the car lot which can throw you off a little because you do go out a different street (thankfully, we know Orlando like the back of our hand now and have no problems).

I see that you have started your TR. I was waiting for it, but I see I arrived a few pages late. I was in Holmes county OH. for a few days with no computer! :scared1:

Anyway, here I am enoying the trip!

I can usually find my way ok. And I did that part, but I just needed the route to find, and Dad wouldn't even read the next sentence to tell me what was up. LOL! He was set on finding a road that we had already been on, and he was being stubborn about it. :rolleyes1 I knew I wasn't going to get any further with im, so Mom had to take over. :rotfl2:

No Internet! The horror! :lmao:

I love your trip report so far. I've seen your signature line in other TR's and I love Claire's pirate outfit. Did you order it online and if so what website (if you don't mind me asking)? We cruise in June on the Dream and I need to order something for DD (9). Thanks! Can't wait to read more of your TR :cool1:

I did order the top part, which is actually a dress at a costume shoponline. I can't remember the name because I bought it a few years ago on clearance. BUT, it was actually too small for her now to be a dress, so we took some pants we had and added it to the outfit, and I think it looked great.
Just google pirate costumes and you will find lots of sites. Many are starting to clearance stuff out too now.

Map reading with my DH used to be like that. I got a TOM TOM GPS last year and now I don't have to listen to him guessing which road to take anymore:lmao:

I'm uneasy about letting anyone touch my camera too. I've only let a few, and they had to have the neck strap on before anything.;)

....and now you know why you DON'T fly the day OF your cruise! I don't know what's worse...being stressed STARTING the trip...or the stress of airline stuff on the way HOME?? :sad2: But...better late than never...glad you made it!

Sux to find out about the rental car taxes AFTER the fact at the airport  ugh..live & lesson learned I guess. I woulda been ticked too...but, like ya said...whatcha gonna do? :confused3 I'm betting for not much more $, you coulda hired yourselves a car and just relaxed on the ride to the port area. At least that's what we do because my DH would probably shoot himself if he had that stress of driving to the port AFTER the airline stress... :guilty:

But pretty soon you're boarding... Lookin' forward to reading about it :)

joining the trip report! Luvin the pics. Sorry bout all the mishaps though

Did they do something to these boards recently? Can't do a lot of usual things and having trouble editing?

meant to tell ya... I know EXACTLY where the Villages are. FIL isn't far from there..he lives in Ocala. I-75 to SR200....not far at all! (we even visited the Villages years ago)

We're staying at the Villages a couple of nights before our cruise. We're going to visit my best friend who lives in Homosassa Springs.

Loving your review, especially the food one popcorn::

I have a gps on my phone, but I would've had to stop to program it. I should've just done that to begin with. ;)

It wasn't too stressful for me because we did fly in the day before. I am so happy we did. I think we will always do that in the future too. If we were sailing that day, I would be very stressed. I have been on 3 cruises now and each one has had the flight delayed. The 2 others were the same day flights and that was VERY stressful.
Skip is MR I have to have a car at all times kind of guy. We have only used ME once and he hated not having a car. Even though we rarely use it. But this time it worked out well since Dad could then take it to visit his sister.
I have the final update of the 1st day typed and I'll post it tomorrow. Then we can start with the fun stuff! :thumbsup2

Thaks for reading. The mishaps are kind of fun to look back on. I guess it makes the trip more interesting. We laugh at some of them now.

Off and I I do. I know they have been updating the site lately and many times I can't even get on.

I don't think I have been to the Villages. Dads sister lives 1/2 mile from Mom and Dads house in Ohip, but they spend the winters in FL. Mom and Dad go to FL about every other year as they have a timeshare (this year they traded it in for Vegas, so they had no plans to even go to FL this year) so when they go to Orlando they usually go and spend one day with my Aunt and Uncle too. It sounds like the whole Villages area is really neat, and every one has a golf cart.:yay:

Thanks for reading. it seems like everyone knows someone who lives there. My MIL's ex boyfriend had a place there too. And then he ended up marrying some lady from there and moving in with her. (he was a jerk though :rotfl:)
It sounds like it's really a huge place.

People don't use cars to get around (that live at the Villages)...they use golf carts to get everywhere. Doctor, grocery store, etc.... I used to work with a lady who ended up retiring to the Villages.

Oddly enuf, FIL's "lady" is retired realator and she told me she actually would steer clients AWAY from the Villages :confused3

Hey, hey lady!!! I am here! Thanks for the heads up that you started this!!!

Yeah, my mom said that they go to the Walmart in gofl carts. I thought that was funny when she first told me that a few years ago. I think there are nice areas, and then some not so nice areas there too. From what MIL had said her exes place was NOT very nice.

Hey, hey lady!!! I am here! Thanks for the heads up that you started this!!!

Yay Heather!! Glad you made it.

Hi Jen! I've read most of your pre-trip and almost all of your dining report for this trip. I figured it was time to introduce myself!! :cool1: I can't wait to read your report, especially since today I booked our first cruise on the Dream!!! And I have to admit, reading your reports inspired me!! We're going on a 4 day to the Bahamas in January 2012 with me, DH, my 2 DD's (6 & 8 now) and my MIL. Sooo excited to read your report!!
