Using Disney World tickets at Disneyland

I've read here that it is possible to use Disney World tickets at Disneyland - that you go to the turnstyle and they will change 1 day from DW ticket to a DL ticket. I will be at DL Monday and Tuesday after Easter. What is the best way to do the ticket exchange? Will they allow me to exchange a ticket on Sunday for use on Monday or does it need to be done Monday. I expect it will be very busy and am just trying to figure out the best way to use my DW tickets and not be holding up lines in the morning.

You will have to do it each morning, they can't do it the night before. Sorry!

I second that..... they told me it has to be done the "day of entrance"...

The good news is that it's simple, and hopefully you won't have to wait too long. BTW... just be aware that when i did this back in 2009 with leftover days I had on my WDW pass, the original cast member that I approached had no idea what I was talking about, and I had to ask for a manager... don't let them tell you they can't, just ask for a manager. have a good time:cool1:

I had no clue this can be done at all I am so excited. We will be def doing this. We always have tickets to Disneyworld but I am having a hard time finding decent priced Disneyland tickets

It must be non-expiring tickets and must be done done day at a time.

If you have a PH, you will get a PH. If you have single park, you will get single park.

I have a 4 day park hopper that is disneyworld that I never used or activated yet will this work? it does expire after i start to use it

we're planning a WDW trip in May and then a stopover in LA..and we'd like to use the leftover day in our WDW parkhopper pass at DL...it sounds like that's possible! do we go to the gate itself or to the ticket booths?

Thanks for this thread!:)

please see POST below...sorry for posting same thing twice. I'm new at this!

Hi Stacie,
after you use your WDW ticket in DL, can you please do a POST and let us know how it went? if you go right to the gate itself or to the ticket booth or guest relations??

Thanks!

I do not know if it has to have already been activated or not. I have never read of someone using brand new WDW PHs, just PHs with days left. Not sure in your situation. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Welcome to the DISBoards. Yes, it is possible. You will go to the turnstile. The CM will get a supervisor. The supervisor will take your WDW PH and disappear for a few minutes, returning with your WDW PH (minus a day) and a DLR PH good for 1 day. If your WDW PH is a child's, you will get a child's PH. If you give an adult's, you will get an adult's.

I'm in the same boat as Dreams. Lots of people have used extra days on thier WDW tickets. I haven't heard of somone using unused WDW tickets at DLR. I certainly don't think the intention is that people can buy WDW tickets to use at DLR.

I have another question for you. My son got married at Disney World and they gave them a season's pass, his company is sending him to California for a week or so and he wanted to know if he could use the season pass there. I was wondering if anyone knew. Thanks in advance

What a nice wedding gift! I am guessing by "season pass," you may an Annual Pass. If he has a Premier AP he can use it at DLR and WDW. If he has any other type of WDW AP, he cannot use it at DLR.

It won't help at DLR.

BUT, they can upgrade it to a Premier pass that is good at both WDW and DLR. It will only be good for a year from the first day they use their WDW pass. They will pay the difference of the WDW pass value to the Premiere cost of $700. So this could be cheap if they have the premium about $30, if it's the regular WDW AP(that is just for parks, not Disneyquest and the waterparks) it will cost about $170. So it depends on how many days they are going to DLR for if paying the $170 or $30 for it is worthwhile. However since their pass was part of thier wedding package it may not have the full value assigned to it, to apply to the upgrade either. That's a very particular question. You might pose it on the wedding forum with a title like, "Upgrading Wedding APs to Premiers APs??.

Thanks, I will pass the info on to my son.

Just to chime in and agree with the prior info that was posted. We are from the east coast, and we have used WDW passes at DL a few times.

I always thought it was bizarre that they did the transaction right at the turnstile, not at guest relations. But they watch and make sure you go into the park, I guess that is why.

It worked out well for us because we often buy the 10 day no expire hoppers to use for WDW. And we sometimes use some days at DL.

Thanks so much for answering my question! My family of 4 is looking forward to doing this....next month! It's been over 10 years since we've been to either Disney park. Thanks again!

Can we go directly to the California Adventure Park and exchange the WDW PH for the DL PH at the turnstile there? We really want to go to that park since it wasn't there the last time we went to Disneyland :)
Thanks in advance!

Yes. The ticket policy is consistent throughout DLR. So what happens at the DL gates takes place at the DCA gate, 50 yards away too.

Because the gates are so close it is really convinient to park hop when ever you want.
