Which park/resort/etc. did you (or did/do you want to) work at?

What are the pros and cons of that location?



I've already decided I want to work in a resort, but come August I want to have a park to work at picked out to tell my interviewer (just incase) and I'm stuck on which one! I've pretty much ruled out MK because as much as I love it, I hear you get a lot of late nights and I'm a total morning person.

Animal Kingdom is good if you're not a night owl, they're never open after 7

I'd love to do Bippidi Boppidi Boutique hostess. I adore playing with hair and makeup and I'd enjoy seeing the smile on all the pretty princess' faces after they get all sparkly

I'd like to do vacation planner too, but the sales environment is kind of intimidating. And, I practically lead the campaign for saving money at Disney when my friends ask my opinion on what to do, which is pretty much the opposite of what you're supposed to do in that role hahaha.

If you've ruled out late nights about the only choice you have is AK or DTD. (which isn't really a park)

I read on the 2011 Fall/Fall Advantage FB page that for Vacation Planner, you usually meet any quotas without trying.

I work/ed at Epcot which I loved. The hours are steady (close at 9 most nights, EMH til midnight).

Actually, Animal Kingdom is open until 8 during the busy periods (summer, spring break, holidays) and 11 during EMH, but otherwise, they are the earliest park to close. They also have early mornings more often than most parks (during really peak times they'll open early while all the other parks close late) I worked at Animal Kingdom and loved it. For attractions, at least, as a CP you'd get the open shifts after full and part time people chose their desired schedules, meaning most CP's closed. It was the same when I worked Front Desk at Fort Wilderness, but that may not be true across all the roles.

CPs all across the board mostly get the closing roles because the full/part timers get all the shifts they want. I know some people who consistently opened for one resort (forget which one) but they were off at like 2 or 3 everyday.

I wouldn't mind getting my late nights free, so AK wouldn't be so bad............I really wouldn't mind the late hours at MK, except for the fact that I'll be car-less and the mass exodus out of MK at 3 AM by all the leftover CPs scared me a little! The other parks would be great too.

During my first CP I worked at Hollywood Studios. I really loved it there.
It's the smallest park, so when you're running late, it's possible to actually run backstage and get there on time HS doesn't stay open too late. Only on event nights. I feel like more adults come to HS because of the type of attractions. I could be imagining things though. I think the Block Party Bash Parade is the best. Also, in HS you are allowed to be in your costume in any part of the part unlike MK and Epcot where there are "lands" that you can't go back and forth in. It makes it easier to get out of the park that way.

For my fall CP I am sort of hoping for Magic Kingdom. Normally, I'd say no way because of how busy it is, but because I'm MEO, busier is better and since I want to drive the trams they have the longest drive. But really I'd take any park.

Hmm well I'll definitely be considering AK- of the times I've gone to WDW I've actually spent very little time in AK but I like the idea of steady hours in the day time or morning

When I first heard about the program I thought for sure I wanted to work at MK & Epcot, and now I'm starting to think AK and DHS. Unless of course I get accepted at a resort hotel, which is what I REALLY want

I want to work at Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios doing Outdoor Foods. I sent an email requesting Magic Kingdom ODF so hopefully I get it! Although I never heard back from them so I don't know if they even got it.

I bet the Animal Kingdom bus is the less crowded lol. If I could work at a park, I would love it work at AK, it's my favorite park. Also DHS. I also wouldn't mind working in a hotel. Hotels are a big park of the World, and if I could pick a certain hotel it would be either Grand Floridian or Saratoga.

MK or Epcot, hands down. They are my favorite parks. AK wouldn't be too bad...but DHS...eh it's not my fave. I only spend one day at DHS per trip usually.

DAK actually doesn't have nighttime EMH anymore (at least for a while, they don't)


Even though I'm still waiting to hear if I get accepted and as what. If I get merch I want to work in Dstreet. (I'm a big vinyl nut)

Any of the other roles it doesn't matter as much as long as I'm inside.

Hollywood Studios is my home, I really really loved it there and I still know that park, onstage and backstage as well as my own apartment lol. I wouldn't mind being there again. But hours-wise anything but MK! Yikes. DAK has the best hours for me I think, but Hollywood has my heart.

The good thing about closing MK is that most days during the summer my shifts didn't start until after 5 so I still had time to sleep in and spend a few hours in the parks before work. my roommate who worked at DAK never went out after work since the rest of us were working and she had to be at work again in the morning.
I've never worked at DAK, but I imagine it would be annoying without a car since costuming is so far away from the park. The CP bus can drop you off there, but then you have to wait until the next CP bus comes just to get to the park.

How did you like working in those 3?

I didn't like Candy Cauldron but I am allergic to peanuts to the touch and wearing gloves didn't help so I didn't have to work there very long. The rest were great though. D Street was my favorite. But all of them had a great group of leaders who were like friends. DQ up stairs in the art gallery place is just a little boring. But it's nice to have sometime to yourself sometimes.
