Restaurants that won't break the bank?

We're heading to Vegas in May for our first trip. Can you guys help us out with suggestions on places to have a nice dinner that won't cost us a ton of money? We're not picky eaters. We like pretty much any type of food. We're going to be there for 3 nights. TIA!

It all depends on how much you are willing to spend... Vegas has PLENTY of places to eat. If you are looking for Buffets then there are some really good deals at Harrah's that let you pay one price and you have 24 hours to eat at there sister hotels buffets. Cafe Bellagio is pretty good. I normally eat at what ever hotel i am by at the time that I'm hungry. Just wing it you will find that no matter where you eat you will have some pretty darn good food. Downtown vegas you will be able to find some really good deals for food.

I'm sure we'll do a buffet or 2 for breakfast or lunch, but for dinner, I think we'd like to do a "sit down" dinner. I'm thinking $75-100. BTW, we're staying at NYNY.

OT - Ladytink...Where did you get your DVC signature? We're owners at OKW.

Are you buffet type? More burger and fries? Hearty breakfast? There is the Earl of Sandwich in Planet Hollywood. Reasonably priced. They are fantastic. Lines can be long sometimes. some buffets can be on the cheaper side depending on which casino you go to. It always help to if you go to the lunch ones as close to dinner time. That way you get the lunch rate and eat mid afternoon and then light dinner which can be more cost effective also. But when I get in Vegas and settled I will scout out the resturants. its ok the Tr I am doing the people like food porn so its not out of my way for doing this. I would be happy to. So keep informed and I am sure other people may chime in also.

Ellis Island, a block or so off the strip has a 10 ounce steak dinner with salad, potato, green vegetable, and rolls for $7.95. Last time, a couple three years ago, we were there it was $4.99, and they even had a liter of wine for $9.00....probably up a couple of bucks now. Also have breakfast steak and eggs for $4.99.

Go across the street to MGM Grand and try the Wolfgang Puck Cafe. You can probably get out of there for less than $100. Try the homemade chips with the blue cheese sauce - out of this world!

Or, walk down to Mandalay Bay and try Border Grill - gourmet Mexican food.

Mandalay Bay has several restaurants on there...and there are a few more on the strip. I always buy at 80% off..so $50 GC for $4. Read fine print on everything.
MIX at Mandalay Bay has fab food & fab view.
Some of best ones are Stripburger in Fashion show mall (tough to get on sale...they run out the first day of month)
Hash A Go Go at Imperial Palace...different denominations for breakfast/lunch or dinner, so read fine print.
We like Earl of Sandwich & PF Changs at Planet Hollywood.
La Salsa at Caesars or PH
Cheesecake FActory at Caesars Forum Shoppes
Grand Lux at Venetian/Palazzo
Isla at TI
WE do NOT eat at buffets in Vegas. They are typically overpriced for average food at best. I have heard Cosmopolitan is fantastic.
MIX is the only high end mentioned above. The rest are very average prices for generous portions and very good food.

We liked Red Square at Mandalay Bay-- probably on the higher side of your budget. (I think two steaks, a soda, and a cocktail was $90 pre tip)

Earl of sandwich is great and not overly priced. There are a few places in the Miracle mile shops that have decent prices. One is a cheeseburger place. Also in the same area across the cheese burger place was a rest that was fairly priced. They are near the cantina. There is fatburger. In the south point hotel there are two places I could not see the menu but that is called Stake and Shakes. They have a garden buffet that was 13 pp on sat. Outside of Ceasars there is a place called Serendipity. They have hot dogs, hamburgers and different things. Look them up online and take a look at these places. You can also type in resturants in the miracle mile shop and it should list all the eating places.

Last year we did the Steakhouse at Wild Bills Casino. Its across the street from Ballys. Food was awesome, service top notch and decor was old school Vegas. My wife and I ate like kings for 75.00. You would never know this great of a restaurant was in the place. Worth checking out. Biilslasvegas.com

DW and I are going next month. Some of the same places at WDW & Universal Studios can be found in LV. We usually go on a budget as well and these are some of our favorites.

Rainforest Cafe. Across the street inside the MGM Grand.
Planet Hollywood. Inside of Caesars Palace. Yup. You read that right. You would think it would be inside PH the hotel, but it's inside Caesar's.
Hard Rock Cafe. Right across the street from NY/NY. Opened up a new one about a year and a half ago.
Margaritaville. If you like cocktails, try and tackle the 110 oz. Margarita. Food is good to.

We also do some buffets as well. As others mentioned, we are going to try the Buffet of Buffets this year. We like the Caesar's buffet and the Carnival World buffet at Rio. We've paid for each separately so we're going to purchase the 24 hour deal this year. Really not that much more than what you would pay for dinner. We think it will definitely worth the price to pay. Looking at the prices for the Caesar's buffet, it would be like paying for breakfast and dinner, and getting lunch free.

Yup. That's the plan. We'll be there during the week and not so much the weekend. Usually when it's a little slower. We'll be there Tuesday-Saturday. We fly back early Saturday so Friday is the only day we'll probably really see the bigger crowds. Hopefully not, but never know. We thought just like you did though, late dinner, breakfast, lunch and then early dinner. Even thought about sneaking back to one just for some snacks.

FYI, they raised the price. No longer $40. Think they raised by $5 + tax. Still worth it though if you can get 4 meals out of it.

Well I have yet to hear anything good about the Excal buffet, LOL. However, I also do the 24 hour buffet pass at CET properties. I normally get a 10 am breakfast the first day & then can get lunch, dinner & a 9 am breakfast the next day. Not quite the bargain of getting 2 full suppers vs getting 2 full breakfasts, but my timing has just worked out that way.

Also - in a brochure my girlfriend found this trip when she & her family came with, it indicated you could add the RIO Seafood buffet on for an additional $10 to your pass.

I love Earl of Sandwich, but it isn't a romantic sit-down place to eat. However, it has AWESOME sandwiches.

I like Margaritaville also. Ate there at least 6 meals last July when I had a food comp offer at Flamingo. The inside area is super popular but you wait for seating there. I enjoy going up to the balcony level (3rd) & eat at a table (1st come 1st served waiting line up there) overlooking the strip & watch the lights & the noise at night. If you want to keep it a bit more reasonable have an order of Volcano Nachos (google images for pictures of it) with meat on them - THEY ARE HUGE. Easily shared by two people - you could add soup or a salad if you want. I have yet to have a bad meal there.
