Hoop-dee-do review is one of my favorite parts of Disney! My wife and I go every trip! So I thought I would give a little advice:

-Take the boat from MK to fort wilderness and then take it back afterward. If you go to the 7:00pm show you might see fireworks on the boat on the way back to MK!

-Group 2: balcony are the best seats in the house! Right next to the Spot Light Guy! You can't get any better.

-Take full advantage of the unlimited SANGRIA. It is amazing! Served over Ice in a Mason Jar with fruit pieces in it! Once we got a server who made her OWN! It was amazing! My brother got the same server another trip and she did the same thing! I guess you have to be lucky!

Have a great time and remember It's supposed to be dumb so sing a long and have a good time!

I also wanted to mention that the balcony is a great place to sit if you like getting picked for things! They spot us having a good time and call us out! It really is a lot of fun! One time I got to play the Indian who has the death scene! It was a lot of fun.

Thanks for the info, we are going next month :yay: We have not seen it since 1990 so it will be like the first time all over again :lmao:

Ooooohhh...thanks for the tip about the Sangria! I've been to Hoop-de-doo in the past but never had the (legal) opportunity to partake in the alcoholic drinks. I was wondering if the Sangria was any good. You've got me looking forward to Hoop-de-doo more than ever!:thumbsup2

Thank you OP !

DS18 and I "did" HDDR in May 2010... I know I've been there before... but Dad doesn't remember and Mom has passed away....

"The Longest Running Show EVER" I believe they say....

We had Cat 1 seats and I DO believe Cat 2 would have been MUCH Better....

OMG... I never would have thought I'd enjoy the FOOD like I did! The Fried Chicken was WONDERFUL! Ribs.. meat fell off the bone... salad... corn bread.... etc... it was so yummy !

Hugs,
Mary

I'm glad you posted this, too. I'll be making my ADR's soon as well, and just assumed that the tables in front would be best, but I'll take your word that the balcony is great, and request one there.

When you make your reservations, are you reserving a specific table? Or just an area?

We're looking forward to it. :goodvibes

You can just reserve a category, but when you get to the review you can request the balcony when you check in. If you get there early you have a better chance. NOTE: There are two categories in the balcony 2 and 3. 3 is on the side and I don't like those seats because your table is not facing the action! 2 is split between upstairs and downstairs so you have to request balcony.

So...category 2, balcony, correct?

Thank you!!! :goodvibes

Balcony?

I don't remember any balcony.

I have been seated up on the SHELF at the Hoop quite a few times.

I agree!
But thanks to you, that song will now be in my head all day:headache:

Sorry to piggy back, but I have a HDDR question I'm hoping someone can answer. We've been there before, but never used the dining plan. this time we will be using the dining plan to eat there. When I booked it on line I connected it to my dining plan like I was supposed to....but I'm a bit nervous about this. I did enter a credit card number. If memory serves they do not present you with a bill at the end, so how do they know while there to charge your dining credits and not your CC?

You pick up your tickets before the show starts. They will take care of it then.Gratuity is included so you settle your bill when you pick up your tickets.

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't remember doing that, but it's been a few years.

I've never done this before, mainly because I felt like it would be a 3 hr. thing..how much time does it really take, from start to end?

There is some cat 2 seating on the floor. It is around the perimeter of the room under the balcony/shelf/overhang. I've sat in that area once and the view was fine. Given the choice, I'd ask for balcony though.

Also a tip for parties of 2 with cat 1, ask to not be seated along the front of the stage. That was a little too close when the action was at the front of the stage. (sorry I don't remember the correct theatre terminology). I remember seeing another party of two seated behind us. I think that would have been a better vantage point.

I will be seeing it for the 4th time in May when we go. Over a 33 year period! Always a fun show. The food is tasty and the strawberry shortcake is worth singing about haha

The balcony is the best view by far.

Since it seems a few of you know the show well...

Do you recall what song they sing when they have the honeymooners/anniversary guests get up and dance? We got married, had a honeymoon and THEN had a reception. So our "first dance" was actually at HDDR, but neither of us can remember what we danced to. Anybody want to refresh our memories???

Once seated, dining and show, together, take a bit under 2 hours.
(Close to about 1:45.)

About the same amount of time spent at most "real-world" plays, musicals and movies.

nice thread with some good info

We've never done the Hoop-Dee-Doo Review before. One quick question: How old do you think kids need to be to enjoy it?

Our daughter will be about 2 1/2 when we next go and we are wondering if she would enjoy this or get bored, or be too loud, etc.

Thanks!
