A Birthday Trip without a Birthday - 2/16: Conclusion and Bonus Birthday Tea

Thanks Liesa! We picked the picture because it was everyone's favourite on the TR. :goodvibes

Well, since I got so scorched for hogging up someone's pg. 1 a couple months ago (hahaha, including my own) I hope I'm ok taking up a spot on pg. 2. :lmao:

I knew you had chosen that for the many comments we gave on it. It's perfect!

I imagine, you're getting ready to get on a plane right about now- or are you going by train?? Have a super magical, fantabulous time! Say bon jour to Mickey for us!

I thought it was quite ironic that you managed to slide in with the last post on page one. :goodvibes The funny thing is, that while I love being on the first page when I reply to threads, I realized that for me as "post host" it really does not matter on which people subscribe. It is wonderful to have new readers, wether it is on the first page or on page 99. :thumbsup2

I am just about to do the last bit of packing, flights leave tomorrow morning. We are already checked in, have a lunch reservation for tomorrow and are very excited. Weather forecast is beautiful: 50 degrees and sunshine... :cloud9:

I'm in!:goodvibes I'll be there in Oct, too:cool1: I will be turning 40 less than 2 months after WDW does, so this is kinda my birthday trip without a birthday, too, lol.

Hi Kathy, great to have you along! I guess I won't be able to write a report without some history involved... ;)

Hi Tracy!! I am glad that you can recommend celebrating a 40th birthday at WDW! :thumbsup2

Great news about the Beach Club! I hope the waitlist will come through for you. Ours did work out quite well. We now have all nights in one room (more on that in a seperate update). :goodvibes

Katharina and I are very much looking forward to meeting you!

:woohoo:

I can't believe it!! This is a wonderful side effect of moving our trip to October. Looks like there will be quite a few DISers at WDW at that time. We would love to meet you if this can be incorporated into your schedule with your guys. :goodvibes

I am sure it can !!! I think they would LOVE to meet someone from Germany but not as much as I will!!!:banana:

Geezzze you guys move quick. Already on page two. Well by golly, page two is better than not at all. Looking forward to another pretrip report with bonuses. :cool1:

:welcome: and great to see you on the DIS again! I hope everything is ok?
Everything is great! We have just been busy, mostly with the new puppy. Send me a PM and I will tell you my FB name if you're on Facebook and you can see pics of Sandy. We have also planned a Disney trip for December (see new PTR in my siggy) and we've been off-again, on-again on the Germany trip this year. Just last week we got an offer for a package again and now we're back to thinking about it for July.

Looking forward to your PTR!!

Man, 3rd page already! You obviously have a lot of devoted fans!

I hope you are having a wonderful time at DLP...can't wait to hear about it!

I decided to go back and read your older reviews since I just started following your last trip report I've missed out on a lot. I've only read your first trip report but I found it very fun and full of the details that you are known for. I really enjoyed reading about how you came up with your screen name and I found this quite intresting..
Final thoughts:

On our second visit to WDW Carola and I agreed that we had a lot of really great food.

Caution, this is going to be a bit of long and winded back story, so preoceed to the next paragraph for the real final thoughts!

I love to eat well when on vacation and was always a bit apprehensive of food at WDW. After my first trip to a Disney park, Disneyland during a stay with my aunt in California, in 1992 I really wanted to go and see Disneyland Paris that had opened that year, but really did not have the money for it as I was just starting university. However, my sister one year got me as a christmas present a huge guide book for Disneyland Paris (then still called EuroDisney), it was the Unofficial Guide for Disneyland Paris (I think there was only ever one edition published) in a German translation. In the chapter on food it starts as follows: During the ten years that we have been reporting on Disney's American parks, we did not have many good things to say about the quality of the food offered there. Of course there are exceptions, but in general Disney's restaurants have to make an immense effort to reach at least the level of quality offered by McDonald's (my translation back into English from German). They then go on to say how great the food at DLP is. I finally got to go to DLP in 1995, 1997 and 2003 and never had great food there. The food was not bad, but I never found anything really good (besides my love for Cowboy Cookout Barbeque). So I was really afraid before our trip in 2004 that the food would be really bad! That was before I had discovered the disboards and dining reviews and such, so I only went with what I could get from reading guide books. Wow, was I relieved after our first meal at Boma during that trip: the restaurant was really as great as it had sounded before!

 So knowing both parks better today then a couple of years ago how do they compare? I can't believe they said the food was worse then McDonald's :sad2:

Hope your having a great time!!!!:goodvibes

Joining in and hoping to be in WDW during this same time period. A friend is turning 40, I'll be turning 45 and a third friend just turned 40. We are hoping to have another mom's only trip the 17th -22nd. October is a lovely time at WDW. The Food and Wine festival is awesome and the Halloween/Fall decorations are lovely. Weather is just beautiful, too. I have spent 3 trips to Disney in October. We have experienced record high temps in the 90s, but our last mom's only trip in Oct 2009 was cooler- 70s during the day and much cooler in the evenings. But much less humidity. Hoping and praying for some nice discounts to come out this summer for this time period.

Hi, just gonna throw my 2 cents in about food in DLP.Really not great the last time I was there. QS burgers and pizzas overpriced and under taste. QS in WDW is far superior IMHO

I'm late and on page three but I'm here!

I can't wait to read all the details and learn more about Germany from the sisters.
