Most Expensive / Moist Exhausting Continued - Final thoughts and wrap-up

I see Blue has already answered the WAVE question !!Yes the staek was good and we both asked for an advocado mousse on the side !! I also remember Chris got GREEN stuff on his plate as I recall he had the pork !! Yes the meal was good but the company was superb !!!!!
Now as for the Civil War:rotfl2:

Judy and the kids are going to Hershey in July with Kyle's Uncle and family!! So if you here of any discounted tickets let me know and I will pass it on!!!

:rotfl2: "Green stuff" :lmao: So true!!!

I do remember that avacado mousse being really good!

oh my stars that was painful Glen, it would have been faster to take the monorail to Epcot and walk!

I'd never even thought of that as an option. Where were you when I needed you?

I will admit, your return "home" is what gives me pause about staying at AKL/AKV. It's gorgeous but it just always seems to take forever and a day to get there (AK too for that matter). Not that it's really any further away but the bus routing seems to be horrendous.

With the dedicated buses, it's usually not that bad. And actually, thinking about that particular night, the trip from the Contemporary to Boardwalk was much worse than the trip from Boardwalk to AKL.

I've never been able to get excited about the menu at the Wave, not sure why, despite the generally rave reviews. Very cute about the "date night" comment.

you sound like Kendall! :rotfl:

Do you say "use your words!"?

YES!!! It was a great meal but honestly it could have just been because of the good company. :lmao: I remember I got a steak but really don't remember much about it. I thought it was good but not super spectacular. We would give it another shot in the future.

Yep, that's the picture I was thinking of! That looks like fantastic company, all around.

As for the rental car thing....that's an extra cost on top of plane tickets so I can see it getting pricey but I tell ya.... I would I eat cereal for a week to save money for it! :thumbsup2 We really don't want to go back to relying on the bus system ever again if we can avoid it.

Wow, cereal for a week? Don't make me give up my Pop-Tarts!

I say oven mitt if it is a mitten type one and pot holder if it is just a square. And hot pad for the ones you set hot food on on the table.

Oh yeah, we say hot pad sometimes too.

Yep-er, Blue supplied the famous Wave picture.

Judy and the kids are going to Hershey in July with Kyle's Uncle and family!! So if you here of any discounted tickets let me know and I will pass it on!!!

I'll let you know if I hear of any discounts. :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: "Green stuff" :lmao: So true!!!

I do remember that avacado mousse being really good!

I don't think I've ever had that, but I do like avocado so I'm sure it'd be good.

Day 8 - Part 1

Day 8, Saturday, June 19th, was our last full-day. Our last park day. And nearly the last day to eat all of the breakfast items that I’d included in our grocery delivery. So, we started this day off with a big, in-suite breakfast. And, since we’d been going full-throttle for several days straight, we finally decided to ease into this day a little bit.

I was up and dressed by 8 o’clock, which is “sleeping in” when Disney is concerned. I ventured out into the darkened living room and kitchen area and found this Mickeyfied harbinger of impending doom, which had been slid under the door. It was our Magical Express envelope, with the luggage tags that we’d need for tomorrow’s flight.

IMG_3866.jpg

I started to work, first making coffee, and then bacon and eggs. After a while, the smell of breakfast food and the occasional additional light being turned on finally roused the kids. Still, we took our time getting ready to hit the parks. Over breakfast we decided that we’d “re-do” Epcot today, particularly the World Showcase, since both Judy and Lauren were disappointed that they’d missed it. And that was another reason why we could take our time getting ready, since the World Showcase opens later than Future World.

We didn’t leave the suite until almost 10:30. On our way out, I stopped at the Kidani library and went out onto the balcony to take another series of pictures to make a stitched panorama. This is the savanna and the animal viewing area outside of Sanaa. It’s made up of 20 photos.

IMG_3874Stitch.jpg

We caught a bus quickly (no more of the bad bus mojo that had plagued us the night before) and arrived at Epcot at 11am. As we entered the park, we saw a Photopass photographer so stopped for a few pictures. Here are a couple with my camera.

IMG_3894.jpg

Ah yes, the sun was mighty bright that day. :sunny: I think James is leaning back in an attempt to shade his eyes. And I’m so glad we did laundry so that he could wear that M*A*S*H shirt again. Did I tell you in the earlier chapters that that shirt was actually mine, once upon a time? Yep, my mom found it and thought he’d enjoy wearing something that used to be mine. But I think he likes it not because it was mine, but because it’s Army-related…he loves wearing camouflage.

IMG_3895.jpg

Lauren needs to learn the art of the “reverse blink”, like I employ. It’s where you keep your eyes kind of closed until the photographer is about to take a picture, then open them for the second that the picture’s being taken. (Of course it helps if the photographer gives you a verbal warning.) I think she tries to hold them open the whole time he’s framing the shot, and then by the time he takes the picture she just can’t hold them open any longer.

And here are the Photopass pictures.

After our little photo session, we took a few more steps and arrived at Spaceship Earth and decided to go on. I’m not sure why, because it went against our whole touring plan, which was to tackle the World Showcase. Also, I’ve always thought it was a “no no” to do it first because it’s the first ride people see when they come into the park and so it’s always busy in the morning. But I guess we just realized that we had no idea when else we could do it, so we got in line. And it was quite a line -- it snaked around the left side of the ball, then snaked around the right side, and finally went in.

And it was sooo hot!
Smiley08.gif

If we had shade and the line moved on, I’d try to hang back for as long as I could before venturing out into the sun. But fortunately, the line did move quickly.

My pictures of the scenes on the ride didn’t turn out very well, but even though it’s blurry I have to include a picture of my favorite lady on Spaceship Earth.

IMG_3901.jpg

At the point where your car turns around and you back down a tunnel of lights, I got this wild light photo. It was an accident really -- I didn’t expect that the shutter would stay open for 5 seconds like it did.

IMG_3903.jpg

I decided to make a goofy face for my picture and I guess that means that my future is going to be, well, strange.

IMG_3904.jpg

Do you dare take a closer look?

IMG_3909.jpg

smiliehunchback.gif

Oh my.

Here’s Marlene and Lauren, parked in the Atlantic Ocean.

IMG_3912.jpg

The rest of us were in the Pacific.

IMG_3913.jpg

Don’t ever get “the bends”. It ain’t pretty.

IMG_3915.jpg

Lauren and Marlene are looking really snazzy in their futures?

IMG_3917.jpg

I guess it's okay to wear a beret and argyle together in the future....but I wouldn't do it now.

Anyway, we really liked the ride and were glad we went on it. We hadn’t been on it since they’d done the refurbishments and we thought they did a really nice job.

We got in line and e-mailed our “futures” to ourselves. Then we had to peel James away from the interactive games so that we could continue on to the World Showcase.

6 judys

I like that Judy, Lauren and even James are getting a WS do-over. A slow morning to finish up all the groceries is a great way to ease into the day.

SE is great way to break up the long walk from the busses to the entrance and the walk to WS.

Great SE Update !! :banana:I love that ride !!We didn't do it our very first trip but I did on my first SOLO trip and told the family they had to try it and they did and LOVED it !!!Same thing with GMR , that is one of Kyle's favorites !! I hate those ME tags on the door:sad2:

6 Judy's!

I love those panoramic photos you can take. It really captures the whole view. Very nice!

That's an awesome photo of the lights! It almost looks like you're underwater or something.

:rotfl2: OMG - Your picture on Spaceship Earth is just so.......I'm actually speechless......:rotfl2:

Laughed the update. Sad its your last full day though. You mean this TR isn't going to last forever? Why the heck not?

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

As with Mary Ellen, I am actually speechless. Just couldnt' get any worse than that. :rotfl2:

I haven't abandoned you, PROMISE!! Out of bytes, bits, or whatever they are.... so have to ration. Back later, Quasi.... with more comments (as if you wanted them after those initial ones.)

8 Judy's and I am first!!BUT am I right ?????:rotfl2::rotfl2::confused3

You're first.....but 8 is not correct. :(

You're the first with the correct count! Another round goes to Pat! :cheer2:

Surprisingly we didn't get a lot of guff from James about going to WS.

Yes, that's a good point. It's quite a hike from the buses to the World Showcase and we needed to get some ride on.

I wish we'd come across it when the line was shorter, but it was a nice ride.

6 Judy's!

Yes, but sadly, you're not the first with the correct answer. Sorry that your streak ends at 1. :)

I love those panoramic photos you can take. It really captures the whole view. Very nice!

Great Biscuit taught me. It's a shame you can't see them as larger pictures...you can really see a lot of detail.

That's an awesome photo of the lights! It almost looks like you're underwater or something.

It reminds me of a school of fish, like in Finding Nemo...the ones that point the way to Sydney.

:rotfl2: OMG - Your picture on Spaceship Earth is just so.......I'm actually speechless......:rotfl2:

It's probably better that way. I'm afraid what word(s) you might use.

Laughed the update. Sad its your last full day though. You mean this TR isn't going to last forever? Why the heck not?

Well, it probably does seem like I'm trying to stretch it out. I hope to be done before the year mark. :rotfl2:

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

As with Mary Ellen, I am actually speechless. Just couldnt' get any worse than that. :rotfl2:

Couldn't get any worse?! Ouch! (But I agree! :rotfl2: )

I thought about not posting it, but after Brook posted her not-so-flattering one, I figured I had to.

I haven't abandoned you, PROMISE!! Out of bytes, bits, or whatever they are.... so have to ration. Back later, Quasi.... with more comments (as if you wanted them after those initial ones.)

No worries. Come back when you can. Quasi'll be here. ;)

Dang it, late again!:headache: 6 Judys.

Oh dear Glenn:eek:. Your Spaceship Earth pic is something else!:lmao: I wonder if Judy saw it and thought, "look at that handsome fella up there, that's right ladies, he's allllll mine!";) Ok, I'm just going to ask...did you mean to make that face or did you sit on something sharp just as they took your picture? You look like you just got goosed!
IMG_3909.jpg

So glad you all had an Epcot do-over, especially since Lauren was able to enjoy it after her 2 month long sickness.;)

I think it is so sweet that James has your MASH shirt now!:thumbsup2 And you have documented proof that he likes it, it's in your Disney pics (all 2,000 of the Epcot ones from this update...:rolleyes1)

Marlene looks very chic in her beret again. Your family pics here are so cute! You really are a darling family.:thumbsup2

I wonder if Lauren is suffering the after effects of her long illness here, it appears she has trouble blinking?:confused3:laughing:
IMG_3895.jpg

Very cool pic!

Great update Glenn!:goodvibes

Looks a great morning so far.
It's hard to believe that is 20 pictures stitched together in that one photo.

Love the M*A*S*H shirt. I can't believe your mom kept your shirt, but I think that is too cool. I wish I had kept some of my clothing from the 80's. I used to have a Alf sweatshirt, & Spuds Mackenzie shirt I wore all the time that I think would be cool to have now! Heck, I wish I still had my Shaun Cassidy satin jacket from the 70's that was the envy of my elementary school! Do you remember them?
Anyway, I am saving Lexi & Levi's favorite t-shirts.

Levi & Brad need to learn the 'reverse blink' trick too. I think I'll teach them that!

Great pics of you guys in the future!

You're the first with the correct count! Another round goes to Pat! :cheer2:

Whoo Hooo finally!!! :cheer2:

Surprisingly we didn't get a lot of guff from James about going to WS.

He probably figured since the whole family was together he didn't stand a chance of staying at Community hall that day.

Yes, that's a good point. It's quite a hike from the buses to the World Showcase and we needed to get some ride on.

I know how you think. Scary huh?

Couldn't get any worse?! Ouch! (But I agree! :rotfl2: )

I thought about not posting it, but after Brook posted her not-so-flattering one, I figured I had to.

No worries. Come back when you can. Quasi'll be here. ;)

I love how those pictures just happen. :rotfl2::rotfl2: You know there has to be someone watching to make sure they are not naughty pictures but I would want that job for a day. I bet you see lots of pictures that people don't intend to show anyone, ever. :rotfl2:

Dang it, late again!:headache: 6 Judys.

I know...so close.

First, how do you know what I look like when I've just been goosed? Have you been spying on me? ;) But no, I meant to make that face. Wait, let me rephrase that....I meant to make a goofy face. If I'd had the chance, I would've opted for a re-do on the photo!

I forgot to mention in the chapter that since we're a family of 5, I was the odd-man out and rode alone, so nobody had any idea what my photo looked like until we got to the end. Yes, as you can imagine, my family was all like, "Dad! What did you do?!"

So glad you all had an Epcot do-over, especially since Lauren was able to enjoy it after her 2 month long sickness.;)

Absolutely -- we needed to make another, proper attempt at Epcot!

I think it is so sweet that James has your MASH shirt now!:thumbsup2 And you have documented proof that he likes it, it's in your Disney pics (all 2,000 of the Epcot ones from this update...:rolleyes1)

She's also given him a couple of my old toys, that I had kept in pristine condition. Let's just say that he didn't play with them with the same care that I did.

Marlene looks very chic in her beret again. Your family pics here are so cute! You really are a darling family.:thumbsup2

Aw, thanks.

I wonder if Lauren is suffering the after effects of her long illness here, it appears she has trouble blinking?:confused3:laughing:

No, I think she was just trying to hold her eyes open for as long as she could, and the photographer was taking too long considering how bright that sun was.

Very cool pic!

Great update Glenn!:goodvibes

Thanks, and thanks!

Looks a great morning so far.
It's hard to believe that is 20 pictures stitched together in that one photo.

A good start. :thumbsup2

Yep, 20 of 'em. I didn't skimp.

Do I remember them? Of course! I even remember Shaun's older brother, David, on the Partridge Family. But naturally, I was a Susan Dey fan.

Levi & Brad need to learn the 'reverse blink' trick too. I think I'll teach them that!

The timing is key.

Great pics of you guys in the future!

Thanks.

Whoo Hooo finally!!! :cheer2:

Good going!

He probably figured since the whole family was together he didn't stand a chance of staying at Community hall that day.

I'm sure that was it. There was no arguing or debating or bargaining at all.

I know how you think. Scary huh?

A little. There are rumors of axe murderers on these boards.

I love how those pictures just happen. :rotfl2::rotfl2: You know there has to be someone watching to make sure they are not naughty pictures but I would want that job for a day. I bet you see lots of pictures that people don't intend to show anyone, ever. :rotfl2:

That would be fun. A day might be a stretch, but I could do a half-hour shift.

Thanks for the laugh!:rotfl2: That picture is a classic.

My family enjoyed their ride here too. It's always been a classic but the added stuff at the end really makes the end so much better.

I'm so glad we're doing an WS do over. Any chance for more phone calls in the UK? Or better yet more fountain pictures in Morocco?

I had the same MASH shirt when I was a kid. I noticed it in an earlier post and thought "What's a 10 year old doing with a MASH t-shirt?" :lmao: Now I know.

BTW, love the Spaceship Earth pic.

Day 8, Saturday, June 19th, was our last full-day. Our last park day. And nearly the last day to eat all of the breakfast items that I’d included in our grocery delivery. So, we started this day off with a big, in-suite breakfast.
:rotfl: Yep, I know that kind of morning! Think every DVC member does? ;)

And I’m so glad we did laundry so that he could wear that M*A*S*H shirt again. Did I tell you in the earlier chapters that that shirt was actually mine, once upon a time?
:thumbsup2 Love this! Seriously, one of the best television shows EVER.

Don’t ever get “the bends”. It ain’t pretty.

Oh my, this is intriguing... was Britney Spear there?! popcorn:::rotfl:

I do wonder....will you see someone's underpants??

(in your next update that is.....)

:lmao:

It appears that you just missed our trip during this trip of yours....we were there June 12-17...you should have come a little earlier on your trip...or heck, we could have stayed a little longer..

Our next trip is also planned for June 2012...we can sweat together!!!

I mean...um....you know, like my family will be there, and your family will be there..and it will be like sun-hot...you know, therefore we'll all be sweating...like..together..

I didn't mean to insinuate like you and me would sweat "together"....

mmm bacon and eggs. cant go wrong there,i had that for breakfast yesterday.:thumbsup2

actually i had some left over chili so my egg was a cheese omlet with chili on top.popcorn::

that was a very cool blue light pic on SE...
