SodaStream....

I use mine almost daily. And it takes up half the counter space of my belove Keurig. Originally I was looking at it from the going green standpoint and not the money saving aspect. But it is a money saver as well.

As for the flavors, I'm a brand loyal Diet Pepsi and Diet Mt Dew girl. The cola is a pretty close match for the Diet Pepsi. They're versions of Mt. Dew and Dr. Pepper I like 8 times better! Plus I can control how syrupy I make the soda, so I can totally stretch a bottle of syrup past the number of liters the bottle says it makes.

I've had mine since last June. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT. Haven't regretted the decision for one minute. That said, I primarily use it for seltzer and not soda. Occasionally I'll let DS make a bottle of root beer for a treat, but mostly I use it for plain seltzer.

I currently own 4 of the bottles so I can keep plenty of them cold in the fridge. The store where I buy my cannister refills usually gives me a bounce back coupon with each purchase.... so I try to time my purchases to make the most of those coupons. I usually keep 3 cannisters on hand at once (I live 45 minutes from the mall where I buy my refills). Once I am onto the last one, I usually go in and get my refills.

I would love to find a cheaper source for my cannister refills, but I haven't really taken the time to search too much.

No more lugging home bottles from the grocery store, no more recycling bins full of bottles, no more running out of seltzer!! WOOHOO!............P

I have one and love it! I love being able to control how fizzy my seltzer and soda is. If you like flavored sparking water, they also have bottled flavorings for that (fruit flavors) that are pretty good.

Wow, this post took me back. My dad had this in the 80's :) He was always doing "budget minded" experiments LOL We had a Soda Stream, a yogurt maker, I believe we had a bread machine until my mother yard saled it....

Anyway, I do remember the soda being pretty good so if it is the same thing and hasn't changed much I would think you'd like it.

Now I'm going to have to look for one ;)

My Bed, Bath, Beyond has the cartridges. It was $29.99 for the new but with a replacement they're like $15.

Good to know about Bed Bath and Beyond having them!
We got our soda stream at Christmas and love it. We don't drink water in our house, just carbonated water. It is so nice not to have to lug bottles of water home from the store. We have used the flavoring for the water and love it. It was a great buy for our family and I couldn't imagine not having it, we never run out of bubbly water now!

DO these use REAL sugar or fake sugar? (I mean the real soda not diet ;) )

I can't have aspertame or sucralose or any of that stuff.... :(

We bought ours at the Black FRiday sale at Bed, Bath and Beyond. We use it but aren't sure if we are saving money or not. We like it but the diet, (which is all we drink), has an after taste. When we bought ours at BBB, they told us we could return it after trying it if we didn't like it for any reason. That made us buy it as we felt it was risk free but we did decide to keep it.

I'm wondering if one model works better than the other. I really like the glass bottle, stainless steel model. We would only be using if for totally unsweetened seltzer.

We love our Soda Stream.

Soda Stream is coming out with real sugar flavors in the spring. I know there will be a real sugar lemon lime, root beer, ginger ale, and cola. We are looking forward to getting some flavors with real sugar.

How long does it stay bubbling in the fridge? We don't drink a lot of soda, and one of the drawbacks to the liter bottles is that they go flat before we finish. Cans are so much more expensive though.

We have a soda stream, but didn't like the flavors or the sweetener.
We make our own version of sprit/7-up using simple syrup (regular sugar) and the True Lemon/True Lime flavor crystals. It takes some experimentation to get it to your liking. There is True orange too,but only avaiable from the website (and it's clear orange soda-kinda weird, but tastes good)
I am noe experimenting with agave syrup as the sweetener instead of simple syrup and I really like it.

Let me start by saying we drink a lot of diet soda. So we bought a soda stream and then we have an adapter that hooks a larger CO2 tank to it. This way we dont have to spend $15 on each of those little refill canisters at bed bath & beyond. It lasts much longer then those did. I fill it at a local fire extinguisher refill place, they will fill our 5 lb tank for $12. Then we buy real diet coke syrup in the box from gordans food service. We have an adapter for the end of that so we can pour the syrup out and use it. We have a reverse osmosis water system and just use that for the water. I love that we dont have to run to the store all the time now when we are out of our caffiene fix. It is always on hand and only takes a few minutes to make more. No more saving all those cans and bottles to recycle. The kids like some of the flavors that came with the soda stream, especially the root beer. Love it!

LovingMickey - Where did you get an adapter???? I need one of those.

We bought a soda stream a couple of months ago. We love it. We have tried the soda stream flavors and they are gross. I like the torani syrups best. Made with no HFCS and you can add as much or as little as you want. Vanilla is my personal favorite. You can also just use juice, my kids love orange "soda". Once we make up a bottle of soda water we pour it into a cup and then add the flavoring so everyone can get exactly what they want.

I did a lot of searching of reviews online. The top of the line with glass bottles does not seem to get the best reviews. We went for the next one down that has plastic bottles and was available at Bed&Bath.

Never heard of this before...then I saw it at Kohl's for $79.00 (with Kohls cash it would be less) but that's a lot of soda!

We love ours. We only use it for seltzer here. We've pretty much given up soda. Canister refills are $15 at Bed Bath Beyond and you can use a 20% coupon on it bringing it down to $12.

My husband was drinking a lot of seltzer cans before and I hated all the cans I had to bring back to the store, plus the fact that cans have BPA in their lining. The sodastream bottles are BPA free.

are the flavors for the sparkling water sugar free - as in no sugar or substitutes? If not, I could just add fresh squeezed lemon, lime, etc.

I have just about given up soda (only have it at the movie theater). I am drinking bottles of sparkling water - gotta have the fizz!!!! I have been limiting myself only because I was going through so many plastic bottles and I hate that for so many reasons!!!!

Would love to do this and have all the guilt free beverage I want! This sounds like the perfect answer.

DH got one for xmas and he loves it! He uses it mostly for seltzer flavored water. He likes the ginger ale flavor and the Petes' Choice(dr pepper version)
