just checking back in, you guys are too funny! I too have been "in training" for Disney. I'm trying to build up to 5 miles a day so I'll be able to handle the all out marathon that is a Disney vacation. Of course right now I'm procrastinating instead of heading up to the gym.

Anyhow, I just booked our airfare yesterday for our June trip, the prices had dropped and I figured I'd better just bite the bullet before the prices start to creep back up with the gas crisis taking it's toll. So my flight gets in on the 8th at 10:30 am which means we will have a good amount of time to hit the park in the afternoon. Yippee! Now I'm getting excited!:cool1:

Wow 5 miles, that must be over 3756 trips to the buffet. :rotfl2:

for the record, am not Buffet girl.. I am Buffett girl. BIG difference. ROFL

someone told me that good exercise is to sit on an exercise ball while at the computer, though that doesn't help for the walking situation.

OK, there you have it. Now I have another suggestion. Any time we post, if we've worked out to get in shape for the trip the day we post we can just post what we've done. I think it will keep us motivated to keep going or help some of us to get started.

Keep in mind all you really have to do is walk continuously at a comfortable pace for 45 minutes to an hour 3-4 times a week. Doing this consistently now will make all the difference in the world as far as helping you to manage your energy levels for the trip. You also really need to stretch out your calf muscles as well as your hamstrings.

It's still a little raunchy outside here in New Jersey with all the wind and rain so I've been hitting the Nordic trak and practicing my Norwegian. Repeat after me "YAH! I vill keep vorking out!!" "YAH!! I vill have to power valk to da Buffet!!!" 'Yah!! I vould like an Aquavit wit my open faced sandvitch!"
(BTW My foster parents were Norwegian so I was practically raised this way :thumbsup2)

Ok so you get the idea! Lets not be judgemental, just supportive. I think that by posting work out info before our sigs we can all encourage each other. I think it will provide extra motivation to know that if you didn't hit your weekly goal you won't be able to post it!

Smoochies to you all! :love2:

Marlton Mom
Nordic Trak 45 mins today

To help us pass another week, another round of questions to help us get to know each other...

1) What things do you pack in your suitcase that are just for Disney?

2) Ok, be honest, how many people have started packing for Disney already?

3) What special traditions do you have to prepare for Disney? (making T-shirts, watching movies, countdown calendars, etc)

4) Does your family tour commando style, absolutely care free, or somewhere in the middle?

5) What is the one thing you really want to try "new" at Disney this year? (in other words, something you have never done before)

6) Describe your family to us so we know who to "look out for" in Disney? LOL

1) What things do you pack in your suitcase that are just for Disney?
Disney spinners for the kids, glow sticks, Disney ponchos (don't use them anywhere else), all my Disney plans (spreasheets, mousekeeping envelopes, tip envelopes, ADR confirmations, etc.)

2) Ok, be honest, how many people have started packing for Disney already?
Not in a suitcase, but I have packed away ponchos, glow sticks, coloring books for the car and crayons, Frogg Togg Chilly pads (love those things), shirts that the kids are not going to wear until we get to Disney.

3) What special traditions do you have to prepare for Disney? (making T-shirts, watching movies, countdown calendars, etc) We always make a countdown paper chain to hang on our wall 30 days out (this year I might have to try a the Mickey head paint chip idea though. I usually use them for reward tokens, but it might be time to try something new. We usually buy our own T-shirts and design T-shirts for Disney. We usually have Disney movie nights on Friday Saturday nights. I try to have the kids watch a mix of the classics and the new favorites.

4) Does your family tour commando style, absolutely care free, or somewhere in the middle?I'm a big planner, but I plan for blocks of time and specific places, not for specific attractions in a given order. We have the "ones" we always do first and the "ones" we always do with Fast Passes, but I do like to be flexible. I guess I would fall somewhere in the middle.

5) What is the one thing you really want to try "new" at Disney this year? (in other words, something you have never done before) I really want to try a go on the Behind the Seeds tour this year at Epcot in the Land. I have always wanted to try it. We are also trying Pirates League this year for my son.

6) Describe your family to us so we know who to "look out for" in Disney? LOL
We are the parents with the two little ones- one boy and one girl). OUr little boy is the dare devil who wants to try every roller coaster and thrill ride at his young age. Our daughter is the little princess wanna be who will most likely be wearing something princess related each day. My husband will be running out in front grabbing Fast passes while I bring up the rear with the kids in the double stroller. (no we do not believe in running into people's heals or cutting people off- not my style LOL) We are the rope drop family who is up earlier than the roosters making sure we make the most of our Disney time (plus...the little ones don't let us sleep so we have to be up anyway:rotfl:)

ADR Change!!!

We cancelled our ADR at Rose and Crown on June 30th and replaced it with a 12:45 ADR at Via Napoli.

Got it! I have updated the list on page 1. :thumbsup2

Hi every1...DSis has already post n jus told me bout the board...we r goin in June n I cant believe how close it is...I must say I am sleepy from reading to catch up n by page 30 I just stopped for a break...

Welcome to the board! :cheer2: Do you want me to add you to our list on page 1? I would be more than happy to, but I don't know your dates, etc.

So....due to our flight changing....we now are checking in June 1!!!! That gives us a full extra day at Disney!!!!!! To excited!!
Yay! How exciting! I updated your information on page 1. :thumbsup2

1) What things do you pack in your suitcase that are just for Disney?

beach towels and bathing suits. we don't use them anywhere else!

2) Ok, be honest, how many people have started packing for Disney already?

not me...no point in it yet because anything I pack I'll end up needing before then. :)

3) What special traditions do you have to prepare for Disney? (making T-shirts, watching movies, countdown calendars, etc)

Nothing really. except counting down the days!

4) Does your family tour commando style, absolutely car free, or somewhere in the middle?

we drive down in the car so we have it for shopping, and going to universal...etc. BUT we strictly use disney buses on disney property. doesn't make sense to pay parking and all that when we can go for free on the buses.

5) What is the one thing you really want to try "new" at Disney this year? (in other words, something you have never done before)

last year we ate only at the hotel with our quick service meals. it's like we forgot that other places could feed us too! so now we've picked out some restaurants at parks to try. also we were never at disney at night last year. always stayed on the same schedule. we're going to mix it up this year and catch some fireworks shows/parades!

6) Describe your family to us so we know who to "look out for" in Disney?

tall mean looking husband who's a big ol teddy bear, short-ER ditzy blonde wife (me lol), and little bitty 9 yr old girl. we're usually wearing tank tops and very casual. laid back, trying to stay cooled off!

1) What things do you pack in your suitcase that are just for Disney?

Disney ponchos - we have really old Bright Yellow ones, I'm not even sure they still make them. But we never use them anywhere except disney and they're probably from 1997, so I'm surprised they're still good. I don't really have much else, but I know my teenager always packs her minnie headband/ears and her pins (even though she no longer trades pins lol)

2) Ok, be honest, how many people have started packing for Disney already?

Nope, not me. I am a last minute packer, otherwise I take too much stuff.

3) What special traditions do you have to prepare for Disney? (making T-shirts, watching movies, countdown calendars, etc)

My kids told me they watch all the Disney movies. I had no idea they had this tradition. Does coming to the Dis count as a tradition? I know, I'm a bad disser but I never come when I don't have a trip planned. I would either (1) get sad or (2) plan too many trips. LOL. And I make my spread sheet and file it in the "Green Folder of Happiness" Yes, I really call it that. LOL.

4) Does your family tour commando style, absolutely car free, or somewhere in the middle?

Somewhere in the middle. We have our sheet with our days and we have our ADRs and we know where we're going when we hit the parks - what FP we need. But then...we try not to rush and we try to roll with it if we all decide we really want to change plans. Correction, I try to roll with it...they're allok. LOL.

5) What is the one thing you really want to try "new" at Disney this year? (in other words, something you have never done before)

We are going to do MiniGolf. I have wanted to do it for years and years since they first opened. And this year I am determined we are going to do it. It helps that we are only getting a 4 day pass (the military one) and so I know I have 2 1/2 non-park days. Every other year I get a pass for every day in the park and I always say "oh we'll go do it" but then when you've got your park days, I hate leaving them unused, since they're paid for, so we never do much else except the parks..

6) Describe your family to us so we know who to "look out for" in Disney? LOL

Ok, so there's me; short dark hair, early 40's, looks like a geek. There's dh - army short shaved head, even without the hair, you'll know he's a red head, baseball hat on his head (probably something Army related) and some sort of army t-shirt. There's the 17 year old (will be almost 18 when we go) who could pass for about 12 - probably skipping down main st. wearing her Graduation Ears (which came in the mail today! Thank you for telling me about them!) or her minnie ears. She may alternatively be scowling. or singing. Hard to tell. And there is the little guy - 10, almost 11. Most likely sweating profusely and wearing a redsox shirt. He will not smile in photos and so when you see the family standing for the photopass guy - with the boy not smiling..that will be us. I swear, this child ruins every single picture. grr. And I forgot to add, I will look like the lady that you'd look at and say "geez, I bet she could REALLY use a beer". lol

As always, I'm late to the party! We will be at Pop 6/2-6/12. Is there a post that explains the crowd calendar? I'm clueless :cool1:

Welcome to the group! :welcome: I will add your to our list on page 1. I just added a link under the crowd calendar link which explain how to read the chart. You are not the first person to ask this question. I just posted it as a reference for people that don't want to pay for a crowd calendar. This one gives some useful information to help with planning. I hope it helps.
