Has anyone eaten at the dinner with Shamu? Was the food decent, the view worth the money? We are taking our 9 and 5 y.o. sons and thought this might be a nice "treat" for them.

Thanks

My girls loved it. The earlier you book it the chances of getting right pool side are higher!! The food was decent, and it was in my opinion worth the money!

Thank you.....I tried booking for April, and they said they book 2 months in advance....so now I will be ready.

I personally think it's overpriced for what it is. That said though, I have a kid who just can't get enough of Shamu and will be going to this for a third time in March of 2010. My son got to pick all the vacation activities for our March 2010 mini trip. It's a buffet (good, but not great food) and a half hour talk by one of the Orca trainers. On top of that one of the Orcas will do a few performance things in the little pool by the dining venue. The whole thing lasts for about an hour.

Thank you, Kathy....that helps. The boys so want to do it, and we have spent too much money on dining in the past so the kids can see a particular show, that I will bend to their will for this too....one of the only things I will bend for ;)

Took my kids 8 & 4 this summer and they loved it!! I made my reservations early and we had front row seats for the three of us. The buffet had plenty of food that my kids liked to eat. I enjoyed it too!

I just posted this exact question! 4 of us would be just over $110 and want to know if its really worth it. My daughter loves anything sea animals.

Not to be the naysayer, but we booked this early, had the prime pool side seats, and then the weather kicked in. It kept getting darker and darker, and instead of starting the show a little early since it was obvious something was coming in, they waited the full 45 minutes while we were eating and did nothin, went to start the show and literally the second the guy started talking, a massive thunderstorm came through, and they canceled the entire show. No Shamu, no refund, no come back another time...nothing. So we ended paying all of that money for so-so food, and not even a teeny glimpse of Shamu. Very disappointing.

We did dine with shamu a few years ago. Our table was very far back, and could barely see the whale swimming around. The food was just ok.
We would not consider doing this dining experience again.

My Wife and I did the Dine with Shamu a year ago this past November. We actually didn't have reservations and when the park first opened we went to reservations and made our ressie and at the time the lady at the desk told is there were only 8 other reservations for that night at that point so we knew it wouldn't be crowded. We were deciding between the Shark Dinner or Shamu. I did the Shark dinner the year prior so we opted for Shamu. It was def a cool experience, not something we do every trip but we wil for sure go again. The food was good from what I remember and it was a buffet. We had great seats and a great time!

I love it!!!!! I have lived here my whole life minus 2 years. When I was 10 my parents moved all of us to Jersey to live with the grandparents so they could save up for a house. I could wait to get back down to Florida lol. As long as you the heat and humidity dont bother you too much then its great. No snow days, so everyday you have the opportunity for fun in the sun! Also we can wear shorts and flippy floppys all year long = )

I forgot to mention the most important thing! We are only a 2-3 hour drive to Disney, Universal and IOA, Sea World, soon Legoland, and then 4 hours to Busch Gardens. :thumbsup2

And 10 minutes away from the beach

Thanks...we love sun....love to be near parks....and I am in PT so there are lots of elderly homes to work in!!!

Do they still offer this? I looked online for dining experiences and did not see any meals offered with shamu. Saw an animal experience with jack hanna and a hawaiian dinner, that was it. Anyone know if this is offered? Linda

It is not currently offered but they are starting it again in Spring of 2011. It has been shut down since Feb of 2010 and the accident with Dawn. We are going and June and hoping to do it for my son's b-day...keep checking the website.
